First and foremost I would like to say that the staff was very polite and kind. The first problem I encountered was when I checked in I got a king bed and it was supposed to be two queen. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and helpful and did switch over me to a 2 queen bedroom easily. The second problem we encountered was the elevators were extremely slow both days we were there and it took a long time just to get from the 5th to the first floor. Then I got switched over to the two queen bedroom where I found there was no mini fridge. I did call down to the front desk and request one they said they were going to have maintenance bring it up and then never showed I called two or three other times after that and no answer. At that time my husband had to go downstairs and get 2 bags of ice to put our food on and our water and what not....The door from the bathroom into the sink area would not open and closed which left your bathroom door wide open with no privacy also the remote would not work unless you pressed it 5 to 10 times and really hit the button hard if it would even work at all kept having to get up to change the channels and turn it on and off. The beds are not very comfortable and the mattress slid back and forth every time you get in and out of the bed the mattress would move off the platform. Then want to have coffee in the morning and the coffee maker would not work so I unplugged it and plugged it into the one on the bathroom counter and it still would not work so I had to go downstairs to get coffee. The gentleman at the food stand was very polite who was making the sandwiches and whatnot but requested a breakfast sandwich and wrap and it took over 20 minutes for him to make them and we were the only ones down there. Very nice set up as far as a hotel goes but when we went to the pool to go swimming there was absolutely no towels at the pool had to go to the front desk , also we could not get into the workout room with our key it would not work. So I guess as far as a state goes it is a beautiful hotel nicely set up very cute and modern but too many issues went wrong will not stay there again. Also they offered two free drinks at the bar downstairs and when we went to get them it was such a hassle had to go all the way back upstairs to get ID and we are in our forties and then had to fill out a form and show the key to the front desk and bring that form back to the bar to get a free drink not really a complimentary drink when you have to go through all that. Both of the women at the front desk were extremely polite and very courteous and nice and so was the gentlemen will be checked in. All of the staff was very much on point just the hotel itself was not what I expected for the price...
Read moreOverpriced, you will not receive the value of your dollar here, the mattresses was hard as a rock, the pool water was gray, they had unhelpful customer service. My stay with the Aloft Chesapeake hotel and the resulting conversations with Marriot customer service have left me never, ever, wanting to deal with any hotel in the Marriot family. First, when I made my reservation, I requested adjoining rooms, next door rooms, or across the hall rooms. When I arrived the manager informed me that it's just a "request" and they have no obligation to hold the rooms we reserved. I was speaking with her and said that I did not appreciate the mistake the hotel made, she very brusquely informed me that they had not made a mistake and were unapologetic about putting 2 rooms on completely different floors. At that point, I paid for ONE room and my sister paid for the 2nd room, instead of the 2 queen beds we had reserved we went with 1 room with a king. My kids went to go play in the pool to find that the water was gray and disgusting. The beds felt as if they had put the sheet directly onto the box spring. As hard as the beds was it may have been more comfortable to sleep on the floor. In the morning I found that I had been charged twice for the room I paid for. After ensuring that my receipt showed only 1 room and my sister's receipt showed 1 room I went downstairs to find out why I had been charged 2 times. The front desk staff was totally unhelpful and told me a manager would be calling me after 3 on Sunday. I called customer service but they informed me that the hotel would have to directly refund my money. I waited patiently until the next day with no call from the manager. I called the hotel back and the management was supposedly "in a meeting" but would call me back. I called Marriot customer service again, they assured me that a manager would call me. No one did. So for 2 days I had $246.10 tied up and unavailable to me with no communication from hotel staff. No one at the hotel or with customer service ever even apologized to me for the inconvenience. They also made no apologies for the mistake they made by ignoring my reservation to be put in rooms near each other or for the uncomfortable bed. All in all, I will never again, choose a Marriot hotel. We travel frequently all over the U.S and have stayed in numerous hotels. I have always enjoyed my stay in Hilton hotels and have never had any problems like I encountered this weekend. We left the hotel Sunday at 11am, it is currently, 2:50 pm on Tuesday and I have still not received any call from the hotel manager, despite numerous promises from front desk staff and customer service...
Read moreI checked in the aloft in Chesapeake on October 19, 2023 and checked out on Sunday the 23rd. The hotel was okay quiet and clean but I left my purse in the room on Friday morning and Saturday morning to go down to their lobby for their breakfast. I didn't stay long I bring my breakfast back to the room. I took my wallet but I left my purse. I had a bracelet box with a pair earrings a ring and a watch. Saturday as I was getting dressed to go to a wedding, that's what I noticed my watch was missing. I didn't report it at the time cuz I wanted to be sure that I didn't leave it at home. Mind you I had to do not disturb sign the whole time because I wiped and cleaned down my room and I didn't want anyone in it. I went back home Sunday I looked for my watch and is not in my house. I called the hotel Monday to tell them that my watch is missing out of my purse. They transfer me to the housekeeping supervisor which I had to leave a message because she wasn't in. So on Tuesday I didn't hear from her I called back up to the hotel and I talked to the manager. I talked to The manager Mrs Hunt. She told me that she could look in the system to see whose key card has been coming in my room. And that she'll call me back in a half an hour. I didn't hear from her that day so I called her back again on Wednesday. She stated the reason why she didn't call me back and she was waiting on the housekeeping supervisor and I asked her again about seeing who used the key card? Miss Hunt status she had to check with the technician. She also stated that sometimes things fall up under the mattress and there's a guest in the room now and he is checking out today and she will go up and move the mattress and see if it had fell behind that. The manager stated that they've never had a problem before about someone stealing. She never called me back and she probably never will. The hotel is not going to take responsibility for their employees stealing from the guest and tell there was a safe I wish I had of used it but I thought I was just going downstairs and coming back and I didn't see anyone in the hallway for didn't even know I wasn't in the room. It wasn't a very expensive watch cuz I have about 30 of them but was my favorite watch and it was mines. I will share this with my social media also My watch wasn't lost it was stolen out of my purse and it doesn't do any good to contact management cuz you give me the runaround and claim to call me back and ever do so that apology is not accepted. I didn't lose my watch my watch was stolen out of my purse. It's been a year and I'm still...
