Hotpot 757 Chesapeake is THE place to go in Hampton Roads for HOT POT!! Hot pot is an Asian version of fondue. Perfect for winter. I can't speak on the Korean BBQ experience but thoroughly enjoyed my first visit that I have to share!
My first visit was extraordinary & here's why I'll return. Hotpot 757 recognizes therefore offers a 10% military discount! The establishment is welcoming and spacious. We were greeted with smiles & politely escorted to our booth. There was no chaos and staff throughout the restaurant were all so very nice & pleasant. Their air ventilation system has got to be top notch as my eyes didn't tear up, I didn't observe clouds of smoke, nor did I leave wreaking of BBQ. This was a huge win for me!
Our server, Zay, was upbeat, attentive, clear in his delivery, thorough and seemed to take pride in the work! Loved the service Zay provided and gives me hope for future generations. Zay ensured our drinks were filled, dirty plates were removed, and that we were satisfied. Kind bussers/runners also walked around picking up dirty plates. There's an extensive condiment bar to create your own dipping sauce(s). A banner hangs over the sauce/condiment bar that displays recipes of sauce recommendations. I'm like a kid in a candy store at a condiment bar & can get creative with various combinations! So don't fear, use the banner as a guide, keep it simple, or create your own. The sauce & salad bar appeared clean and ingredients fresh. Seasoning containers were labeled with sesame seeds, chicken broth granules, black pepper, etc.... There was hand sanitizer and gloves too!
My friend and I chose HOT POT!! I've chosen both, hot pot & KBBQ, simultaneously at other establishments & it's not enjoyable for me. I prefer not to multitask but to focus on one cooking method. The hot pot option also has more veggies and fun dumplings to choose from! For those who enjoy heat, Szechuan Spicy Style cooking broth was so flavorful! Take it easy because I almost choked on a pepper in my gluttony!! The meats, dumplings, and veggies came super fast! Presentation was immaculate, ingredients were separated, and portions were perfect to try! Enjoy and want more of a specific ingredient, just ask! My favs were the brisket, pork belly, fish ball with fish roe dumpling, radish, and tofu skin. I loved it all and still so much to try! I finished off my dinner with a little mousse cup and fruit from salad bar. Also, soooo good! Hopefully the KBBQ experience is just as wonderful.
Whatever y'all did on this visit, Hot Pot 757 of Chesapeake, PLEASE keep it comin! So happy to have your business in the area! I highly recommend this specific Hot Pot 757 Chesapeake location if you're in the Hampton Roads area and have a craving for hot pot.
Note: This location is next to Michael's. My GPS took me to the middle of the parking lot near Value City where I began doing figure 8's. Signage was dark and light was off. Please ensure light is on at dusk....
Read moreThis was my first time at any hotpot restaurant, and reviewed as a person with a food allergy. (Not celiac, allergic to wheat) When you make a reservation, you can not be seated without the whole party on site. The sauce bar is messy and disorganized. I got a little overwhelmed trying to make a sauce from a first-timer. I wasn't the only one as others who walked up said they had no idea what they were doing or where items were either. Almost all of them had soy sauce (wheat), so it would be nice to have alternatives. There was something called special soy sauce, but I had no idea what that was, and there was no explanation. There was also no explanation from the person taking our orders. A gluten-free soy sauce in a bottle would be helpful. Of maybe even a 'how many spoonfuls' are recommended for the sauce. Our waiter only had half an idea of what was going on. We were a party of 4, and our items got mixed up, or what we individually requested was not brought out. He is marking every single individual item for everyone. I have heard that others leave a tablet on the table for individuals to order, and then the food is brought out. This may help with this situation. As someone with a food allergy, I had to repeatedly ask about it because there are so many components. The broth is the first. The waiter finally showed me an ingredient list of the broths on his phone. This would be much more convenient and helpful to just be listed in the menu. As the hot pot broth dwindled, a cup of plain cold water was dumped back on my bowl. It dilutes the flavor significantly, and a little more broth on request would be appreciated. When anyone at the table was ready to reorder, we had to wait for the waiter to come back, and they were BUSY. Again, a tablet at the table would help this. More adequate utensils left or delivered to the table would be helpful to help prevent contamination. You don't want to use raw meat tongs on cooked food and/or veggies. Because they were so busy, we had to wait quite a while to get our tab. Again, a tablet would be most helpful.
Overall, it was a good experience. I think this process could be streamlined to make it great. I was happy with the option and broth list overall, and the...
Read moreThis is their other spot with their sister location being in Virginia Beach. You can do hot pot (think of it similar to fondue except that you're dipping your ingredients into soup instead of cheese). You can also do the barbecue grill instead if you'd like. And finally they have a combination price if doing both. You can cook beef, pork, poultry, seafood, or vegetables whichever cooking style you choose. The grill or the induction stove (for hot pot) heats up pretty quickly and your server will assist you if you've never tried this experience. Watch out how many items you order as it's easy to get full pretty quick and they charge for uneaten food. They also charge a gratuity fee for parties of 7 or more. They have better wifi here over their sister location. Makes it nice if you're looking to surf on your phone, tablet, or computer while eating. The staff are polite and professional. They are following current Covid guidelines. Recommended. Update 4/13/2023: Price has gone up again due to inflation as it already went up a dollar or two last year. So now it's increased an additional dollar or two as of this year. Update 1/10/2024: They have started adding automatic gratuity regardless of your party size, 18% for 5 people or less and 20% for 6 or more people. Keep this in mind in regard to the overall amount that you'll end up spending for your meal. The amount of gratuity is posted throughout the restaurant. They have also made one singular price whether you get hot pot, Korean BBQ, or both. Update 11/29/2024: the price is now $31.99 although they have taken down their signs about adding automatic gratuity and it doesn't appear that they're adding gratuity for parties of 5...
