Manatee Springs Motel — Hotel in Chiefland

Horrific!!! When I called for a room, she asked if I wanted smoking or non, I said non. When we arrived, I asked to see the room first before I paid, she agreed, came out to walk us to a room and asked if we smoked and we said yes but not inside, she said we needed to go to the road to smoke we said that's not a problem....walk in the nasty room and I go to take the sheet down to check for clean linens and bed bugs...she stopped me and said "oh no, I not give you room" (Indian women) I said "why? I was just checking the bed" she said "you no trust me? I no give you room, you leave!" So we left and went to days in right down the road for 10 bucks more, and its way nicer. Moral to the story...she DID NOT want me looking under that sheet...makes you wonder why. Nasty woman and nasty place, office smelled of strong mildew....

Mid-Century small family owned motel. The original decor is precious. We have stayed here for the past year off and on as we roadtrip. Stays have ranged from one night to a week at a time. The owners are the sweetest folks - love talking with them and the Mrs. gives us cookies. The Mr. has a very nice herb garden growing in pots - ask him for a few sprigs. The non smoking rooms smell fresh. Full size fridge really comes in handy. The linens have been clean and towels white and fluffy. We spent many months at first at the higher priced name brand hotel down the road as we were hesitant to try a mom and pop motel. So glad we tried it. Headed back to FL tonight and they already have a room saved for us. Give it a try - you may...

We have an African Gray parrot that travels with us most of the time. This hotel is very pet friendly and the owners and staff were most helpful. We often tow our boat and need ample parking. With the boat behind us we are about 40 feet long. This has never been a problem. We never had any trouble with hot water and the room was always clean. I see a derugatory review and wonder what the lady was looking for. This is an older hotel and as such is not set up like a Holliday Inn. The rates are good for our expectations and the people are friendly. We travel up and down the west coast of Florida and often stay here. We have never been unhappy with our visits. We will be going back again and look forward...
