Baskin-Robbins — Restaurant in Chiefland

Sorry it’s long, buckle up. 🤣 This location has become a bit of a joke in our family. “It was bad, but was it as bad as that one Baskin Robbins?” 😂 We stopped while on vacation. We decided the sign must be upside down bc their “31 flavors” were actually only 13. 😆 That’s fine, still plenty of options… but then they were out of SO MANY THINGS… much of which they didn’t inform us of until after we’d paid. We weren’t sure which end to go to so we went to the ice cream counter since that’s what we were there for. We were the only customers there yet we still stood there for several minutes without anyone coming to help. It turns out the guy working was standing looking at his phone at the Dunkin register waiting for us to come to him. He finally leaned over the counter and rudely asked us if we were ready yet. My bad, dude, we interrupting your work day? 😆

We went down to order, paid. My kids wanted waffle cones, which they didn’t have but at least they told us before we paid for those. They didn’t have most of the flavors we asked about, but we all settled on something they had. No big deal.

Then he had us walk back down and basically re-order everything again at the ice cream counter we were at originally since he didn’t print it out or write it down or anything. Not the most efficient system, lol, but we were finally getting served so it was fine.

My husband and I ordered a 3 scoop sundae to share. The employee handed me 3 tiny scoops of ice cream in a dish, nothing on top. I was confused and was like, ummm, isn’t there usually something on a sundae? Acting like I was thoroughly inconveniencing him the guy informed me he was out of hot fudge.

I politely pushed a little bit… “Ok but like, isn’t there anything ELSE you put on it? Cause this is just 3 scoops in a dish which is a considerably cheaper price point than the sundae I already paid for!” 😆 He was acting annoyed and was like well what do you WANT on it?

I saw some syrups so I’m like, how bout one of those? He hands it back still acting like I’m super inconveniencing him and I’m like, “What else is normally on it? Could I have some whip cream or a cherry or something to make it more like a sundae?” Apparently they were out of both but I did get a little scoop of nuts for my trouble. 😆

This whole ordering process took a little over a half hour but then we still needed to wait for our friends to go through the whole thing. 😂

We’re pretty good natured so I didn’t demand money back or anything but then our friends went through a similar ordering experience right after us where Baskins had NOTHING that they were trying to order but they also ended up paying for items that turned out to be out of stock.

We weren’t mad, just befuddled, and we all had a good laugh about it as we ate our sad little ice creams scrounged together from the scraps of their kitchen.

But here’s the kicker… the real “cherry” on top of the whole experience, since I didn’t get one on my sundae (ahaha see what I did there? 😂)

Before we left I went in to use the restroom and another employee was using the restroom.

Ya’ll I watched her walk out WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS! 🤢 I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe she had a soap allergy and would go use other soap or hand sanitizer or SOMETHING… But nope…. I watched her walk straight from the bathroom, behind the counter, to the register, and immediately start serving other people. 😱 🤢🤮 So anyway. That was an interesting experience. Ordered ice cream on the app which showed there was 31 flavors. Which is what a baskin robins is known for. Placed the order for 2- 2 scoops of ice cream. They didn’t have a single flavor we ordered and paid for. Was in the drive thru for about fifteen minutes going back and forth trying to figure out what flavors they do have. Employees and manager were quite rude and acted as if we were highly inconveniencing them by ordering this ice cream… at a baskin robins. Ok.. so finally after saying “can I just get plain chocolate?” I got “We don’t have that” So I asked for a refund as we already paid, they could not give me a refund and just handed me a gift card for $5.77. We tried this place twice. The first time we couldn't get waited on in the drive through so we left. The second time, the guys were busy laughing it up. We asked for a soft serve vanilla and chocolate cone. They said they didn't have chocolate so we asked if they had the hard chocolate. They couldn't understand that for quite a while and kept calling my husband "bud." Finally, they got that we wanted the hard chocolate and drove ahead to the window. Got there and they handed us dishes of ice cream. My husband took his but by this time with the disrespect and the not listening to us, I was livid so told them this was not what we ordered and wanted the cone. DON'T EVER GO BACK TO THIS BUSINESS! They hire incompetents with no customer...
