There are so many little things I would fix at this property.
-all of the workers take up any extra parking around the resort. So if you’re handicap, need to go do laundry or pick up a package that is big from the mailbox area— good luck trying to find a spot that isn’t coned off or taken by a worker.
in the check in rules is specifically states no electric bikes, scooters etc. I brought this up to them after we were almost hit by a kid going 25+ on one and they had no clue about their own rules. Zero clue, the woman tried to argue back with me regarding this. After showing her THEIR OWN RULES did she say she would do something about it. She never once apologized for being rude.
-the laundry room ALWAYS smells like a dead fish/rat the washing machine on the far left (closest to the window) always breaks and costs us guests $$. They would just unplug and plug it back in and wait for the next victim to use it and loose money. It would then sit there filled up with water and start to mold and make the laundry room smell terrible. I tried to talk them into actually fixing it. They put a sign on it for a few days and then ripped it off without actually getting it serviced as it continued to break. I watched this happen over and over and over for the TWO months we stayed there.
customer service is not be nicest, they could work on their customer service skills indeed.
upon checking in we asked to extend by one day in the current site we were in. We were told that we indeed could and was given a hang tag for our entire stay including the added on day. The hang tag said our site # and check out was the last day with the added on day. So we never thought we had to move. We were never told we had to move, EVER. Here comes the day before the last day and they are telling us we have to move sites for ONE night within one hour. We refused, we had no heads up. Our hangtag said the next day was our check out date in the current spot we were in. Had they given us TWO hang tags at check in stating we would have to move the last day we would have done it or just left the day we originally had booked prior to adding on a day at check in months prior.
This location has no accountability, they are all over the place with their rules. It’s a party town USA with non stop weekend warriors who just want to drink, party and not watch their kids.
We had countless number of kids walk through our site dis respectfully. One time my husband was coming out of the RV with a plate of steak to throw on our grill and a strand of kids decided to run through our site right at that moment almost knocking my husband and our food to the ground. We have NEVER had that issue anywhere else in the united states and we have traveled full time for 5 solid years.
The only pro is the biking trail that is right outside of the rv resort and the new park. Though there is heavy heavy homelessness all around the outside of the park.
This place is as free for all half a$$ dump with an inflated price tag. We will never come back here again.
If you’re a partier who doesn’t care about your kids or health, this is the place for you.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, outdoors setting and a nice calm resort—...
Read moreFINAL: We finished our 89 day stay at Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay. As with the last review, I hold the working staff in high regard. During the 5 week trash strike, they worked hard to keep the trash from accumulating. Kibbe is still awesome and a shout out to Lorena in housekeeping with her warm greetings and happy attitude. If everyone had their attitude, including management, this resort would be even more welcoming.
Now for the less positive. 1) Overall focus in approach and pricing appears to be more concerned with the weekend revelers than sustained income/longer term winter snow birds. 2) Sunday through Thursday is a nice time to be in the park; however, the weekend adults like to party and let their children run throughout the park unsupervised. 3) For the size of the park, the laundry is woefully small and during the entire time we were there, two dryers (25%) were inoperable. 4) The resort needs to be more proactive with blast communications around the theft of numerous bicycles. 5) There is a great set of updated policies, especially around motorized scooters, skateboards, etc.; however, am unsure on enforcement of them without roving security. 6) And lastly for management, when someone reports an issue with something (the pool access), don’t act in disbelief or be condescending about it. When it was an issue for client, be more customer service oriented.
Would I stay here if in the area again? It depends on where their pricing policy goes in the future.

INITIAL: This is our 61st stop in our very long road trip and stayed more than one month. The resort and amenities are the best we have found and you can read the reviews of others for the positive accolades. But my review will focus on the staff. We have had the opportunity to interact with most of the staff and across the board have found them to be professional, positive and very personable and go out of their way to make it an excellent experience. For example, we are on the back side of the park and when walking to take our trash to the dumpster, we are often asked by staff if they can take it for us. Or it is a quick chat or wave as we pass by. The front office staff, landscapers, maintenance staff, cooks, security (especially the evening guard), housekeeping, bar tenders, and activity coordinators have set a high bar and have been the best group of any park we have stayed at to date.
But I want to single out one particular employee who we have really enjoyed. One of the first days we were here, Kibbe made it a point to say hi to us and our two dogs. Over the month we had short but frequent interactions with him as we walked our dogs and was always super upbeat. He is also a very compassionate person as we had to euthanize one of the dogs and he was checking in frequently (with dog treats!) as we neared the end of our companions great life. Thank you, Kibbe, for helping soften the blow for us. He is a great ambassador...
Read moreWe stayed 10 days at this resort. There is a lot to like. The sites are new, level concrete with a solid table and six chairs and a propane fire pit with four chairs. No grass, just nice gravel and some plants. ||The bathroom and showers are in individual rooms so you have complete privacy. Walk in showers, a wooden bench and hooks. They don’t consistently drain well, so be mindful where you put your things. ||There is only one trash and recycle site, near the office/market. The market has beverages and snacks and had a few quarts of outrageously priced milk. ||The pool area is lovely, there are two hot tubs and a fun kids area. There’s also an arcade with some fun games (you have to buy a game card and load it with credits). There’s a pool table in another room but it’s pretty trashed, one stick is broken, no chalk. ||Two good dog parks with astroturf. One has a few agility structures, and there are dog waste bags and cans throughout the park. The dog parks are very well maintained. ||The laundry room has machines that use an app for payment. It was easy-and it tells you how much time you have left on each machine.||We were pleasantly surprised with the prices and food at the cafe. The pizza was good. The portabella burger, the hummus plate and the club sandwich were good. Nachos were not-tasteless orange goo for cheese. Also veggie burger not so great. The hours were odd but we were there at the end of the season. ||The shuttle for the living coast discovery center is right next to the park. Cool exhibits, great trails. ||Know before you go:|The cottages are new and cute, but book them well in advance. If you book on-site, they will not honor the price listed on their website, even if most of the cottages are empty. We booked for our daughters to join us at the resort for two weeknights. We paid a premium price-the one listed online for the view cottages-but for a normal cottage.||The fire pits are not equipped with propane. Use your own tank, or you can rent one for a fee. ||If you’d like to check in early (for example, an hour early to a cottage, when 80% of the cottages are empty) there is a fee. If you want to check out a little late, there is a fee. ||If you want your family members to visit you at your RV site there is a per person/per day fee enter the resort. ||Most things are accessed using a card key, including the gate to re-enter with your car. Ours didn’t always work at the pool and arcade. ||This is a lovely RV resort, but I found the extra charges annoying considering the high daily rate. Especially the hassles to have visitors. But I did appreciate that the resort is secure. And the way they handled the cottage rental rates was profit over good customer service. Really disappointing. But I paid it, so I guess the captive audience upsell works...
