I recently visited La Quinta Grill in Chula Vista on a Saturday afternoon, and while the food was absolutely delicious, the service could use some improvement.
When we entered, the woman at the computer on the front right wasn’t very friendly or welcoming when we said hi. Since we didn’t see a host right away, we assumed she was the host, which made the moment awkward until the actual host came over to greet us and take us to our table. A more welcoming customer service approach would make guests feel more comfortable upon arrival.
On the positive side, we received complimentary chips and salsa, which were flavorful and had a nice spicy kick. Our server started off attentive while taking our order, but unfortunately, she didn’t check in on us while we were eating, especially when it came to refilling drinks, including our alcoholic beverages.
That said, the food was prepared quickly, served piping hot, and tasted fantastic. I would definitely come back for the food alone, but I’d encourage the management to provide a refresher on training staff to be more warm and attentive, especially for first-time guests.
Overall, La Quinta Grill has great food, but improving the guest experience would make it even better!
I’d rate this experience 3.5 out of 5 stars: • Food: 5/5 – Delicious, quick, and served hot, which is a huge plus. • Service: 2.5/5 – The initial greeting felt awkward and unwelcoming, and the server didn’t check in enough during the meal, especially regarding drinks. • Atmosphere: 3/5 – The lack of warmth from staff upon arrival affected the overall vibe, but it sounds like the restaurant itself is comfortable.
The great food seems to make up for the shortcomings in service, but with better training and hospitality, this could easily be a...
Read moreI took my daughter to eat at this place I ordered a clado de pescado y camarón guacamole (literally only had half a avocado and lots everything else) with chips and my daughter ordered a ham sandwich. The food was disgusting my daughters sandwich looked like they put a jar of mayo on the bread she took one bite and mayo was oozing out the sides. My soup was all vegetables and 1 tiny piece of fish and 2 shrimp I asked the waitress to confirm with the cook maybe they forgot to add the main part of my soup. She came back saying " the chef/owner is the one who made the food and he added plenty of everything". Which is a lie I have no problem paying for food especially if it's good food but to be served garbage and the owner having the audacity to say he will not do it over or atleast bring me what I'm paying for. Because the soup wasn't $10 it was well over $20+ for the bowl alone my whole meal was well over 65+ for water with a few pieces of vegetables a sandwich swimming in mayo and guacamole with pure tomatoe and not even one full avocado on it. If the owner makes food like that then he should consider hiring someone else because he has no business in the kitchen. I will never go back to this place again absolutely disgusting and poor management. I will never recommend this...
Read moreFirst off there isn’t an option for rating the restaurant overall. The parking is restricted but the do have a elementary school next door they say you can park at. This restaurant is very expensive for Mexican food ( think old town) I had a surf and tuff burrito for $17 and it didn’t come with rice and beans that was $5 extra. My wife had an enchilada and tostada and they literally had a table spoon of beans spread thinly on the tortilla. When my wife and I arrived we could hear a mariachi band playing inside which we thought was a nice touch. We were seated four feet in front of the band and the dining room was 40’X40’ and crowded the band was playing at full volume I couldn’t even speak to my wife and we were relieved when they finally took a break. The other people in the restaurant enjoy the mariachi band very much and the band was very talented probably the best I have heard but way to loud for such a small room. My rating for the restaurant is food excellent but over price, staff friendly and the band was inconsiderate playing like they were at the Del Mar race track I felt like I was getting ear damage. . Our bill was $46 and we left a $9 tip making the total $55.55...
