Disclaimer: It is a motel, so I never expect a lavender scented room with a mint on the pillow. But I do expect customer service to be in order. I would give it 4 stars based on the expectation of a motel, but if you read below you'll see why it's a two.
Initial Room: Everything was perfect, except the fridge didn't work. This sounds trivial but silly enough as it was, the fridge was rather important. Attendant: I asked if i could have a new fridge, or if they could move a fridge from another room. (Temporarily ignoring the problem of a broken fridge...) He said there were no spare fridges and they cant move them. So new room.
Second Room Given: The Non-Smoking room we requested smelled DISGUSTINGLY of smoke. It saturated the entire room, which wasn't even clean. The sheets were ripped off, towels scattered, and items were scattered. Attendant: Said he would send someone to clean the room. I told him it smelled HEAVILY of cigarette smoke and he moved me again.
Third Room Given: The Air conditioning didn't work. We waited 10 minutes to see if it would Kick on, but it did not. Attendant: Told me that I need to wait longer then come back. He actually then proceeded to go check out the room himself to verify that it actually wasn't working. Then moved me again.
Fourth Room: Finally it worked! We had a fridge, Non-smoking room, and the AC worked! Attendant: He actually checked the room this time prior to giving me the key. We had to wait till the maid got to it to clean it.
Customer Service: We had to wait about 5 minutes with no acknowledgement from the staff. Even after we attempted to get their attention for the room ordeal and for checking in. The attendant didn't seem perplexed about the constant room issues, and gave an apology. Took about an hour of moving things around and driving around the building to each of the rooms which was frustrating.
The Good: Cleaned everything well Changed the Sheets Clean Towels Clean Bathroom (You'll discover the bathroom has no insulation. So if you're not alone, your friend/partner/whoever will hear all you do in there if the main room has no noise from the TV or otherwise) Water Pressure was good TV was a nice flat screen Fridge decent size Wifi is free but ...(see the bad below) Taco Bell, Dennys, Gas Station, McDonalds, and a very unique liquor store all across the street or down the road Near Highway but not so close you only hear the highway
The Bad Again, customer service could be improved As someone else mentioned, there might be a bug issue. Saw a large spider on my ceiling which I had to remove under a controlled panic Some rooms obviously may have severe issues. Poor insulation, you hear many things if you get noisy neighbors...or you ARE a noisy neighbor. WiFi is free but...good for casual browsing, not good for online game play or streaming unless you enjoy low quality Bed is quite firm, you may hear the coils as you sit.
Edit: Possible Bad: There is a charter school literally next door. Unsure if there are school bells, or loud noise of children or increased traffic due to it since I stayed during a vacation period for...
Read moreGo ahead and let Motel 6 know they don't need to leave the lights on for ya, because you won't be checking in. Then book your stay at Days Inn Chula Vista, you won't regret it!! I have been staying in hotels/motels for the past month while I wait for my home to pass building inspections, building codes and everything else that's needed. So I can give you my honest review and personal opinion for pretty much every hotel/motel in San Diego. I normally don't write reviews for things such as food or hotels because everyone's preferences/personal tastes are different. However, since I have wasted so much time & money trying to find a "decent" place to stay that I wish more people would write honest reviews because it's the truth & not because they are paid to do so. So I hope my honest opinion helps you in making the decision that's right for you. I've already rambled on too much so I'm going to try to keep the rest short, sweet & to the point (Wish me luck, since I've never been successful in keeping any story short & to the point). Please remember, this is based on MY personal experiences. Days Inn - 699 E. St. Chula Vista, Ca. 91910 is currently undergoing a make over and it looks like the majority of the upper floors are closed. Each category will be rated with ⭐'s 1-2⭐ = Low - Really Days Inn, you can do much better than that !! 3 ⭐ = Average - Almost there, don't give up trying. 4-5 ⭐ = High - Perfection!! I knew you could do it Days Inn !!
Location: ( 4⭐) Close to freeways, within 2 blocks of 5 Fwy making work commute a breeze!
Price: ( 4⭐) VERY comparable, (if not cheaper) to the 4-5 other well known hotels within 3 blocks in every direction. I stayed a few weeks here and paid between $60 - $80 a night for a standard King room (Which is 1000x better, cleaner, cheaper & nicer than the "Executive Suite" I stayed in across the street at HoJo's).
Neighborhood: ( ⭐) Definitely NOT the best neighborhood but I was never harassed or treated badly by anyone.
Property Amenities: ( ⭐) Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, Laundry Room, Snack & Drink Vending Machines, 24 Hour Front Desk,
In-Room Amenities: ( ⭐) Incredibly Comfortable Pillow Top Mattresses, Big Fluffy Pillows, Air Conditioning, Microwave, Refrigerator, Coffee Maker, Flat Screen TV, Black-Out Curtains, Desk/WorkSpace, Iron, Ironing Board, Alarm Clock, Sitting Chair, Fluffy Soft Towels,

As a manager your behavior out in the parking lot was uncalled for and totally unprofessional. You are not perfect sir and neither am I. I did nothing wrong with checking into an available and clean room before 3pm. You were not there and left a new employee alone on her first day.
You falsely accused me of "pressuring her"for a room which I told you was untrue. I know she was new as I have been a customer at this hotel for almost two years.
Although you have shown in the past some inconvenience or unprofessionalism. I continued to do business with you.
Now because I questioned your authority and behavior in the parking lot while sitting in my car. You became agitated and abruptly responded by saying.
"You are no longer welcome to stay here as of this Saturday." And walked away.
Personally I should have taken my business elsewhere months ago but I became content with your other staff and location. You possibly did me a favor to seek out a more fully staff run hotel and a manager that treats a regular customer such as myself with respect and courtesy who never cause any issues. Good luck Sir !
Sincerely,
Don S.
June 8 2023: Carlos Mendez you are indeed someone who shouldn't be a manager or even have a job based on good moral character alone
Today I was informed by your own former and current employee of the lie you told of me being rude towards your new employee who worked alone last Thursday at the front desk. Now either she lied to you about what occurred or you personally are trying to save your job. I questioned your unprofessional behavior as a manager out in the parking lot and you became agitated and told me I am not welcome there anymore. Not once did you mentioned to me I was rude to her.
Why after two years of being a loyal paying customer there that all of a sudden become angry ? Well it's simple. I didn't. She did a good job and booked me for a room. Period.
Had you been there at that time. That verbal incident in the parking lot would not have happened and you know this to be true.
If the owner and corporate office actually took the time to see all of the reviews of the hotel you manage. You would probably be demoted or out of a job. Karma...
