The worst hotel experience I have ever had. I checked into the DoubleTree by Hilton Claremont on Saturday January 13th, 2024 for a 4 night stay. I settled into the room and when I entered the bathroom, I found feces in the toilet and a small piece of feces on the floor. I flushed the toilet and cleaned the small piece on the floor with one of the bath towels and immediately threw the towel under the sink for housekeeping for the following day. The rest of the room looked clean, so I slept for the night as I was very tired from traveling. In the morning I explained to the front desk how the room was found with the feces in the toilet and floor and asked for a thorough cleaning as I did not feel comfortable with the room condition. I was assured by the front desk staff that the room would be thoroughly cleaned. I placed all towels onto the floor of the bathroom as I did not want to use any of the towels until cleaned. I left for the day and night and did not sleep in the room on Sunday as I stayed with family. On Monday I returned to the room and when I went into the bathroom, I found a towel hung on a hook. It was the same dirty towel that I used to clean the feces from the floor as the towel stain was obvious. Also, there were no other towels left in my room. I immediately went to the front desk staff to complain and got new towels and an assurance that Tony, the hotel manager would contact me regarding compensation to make this right. I spoke with Tony; the manager the next day and he assured me he would comp me 40,000 Hilton Honors points which is equal to one free night in the future at the hotel. It’s been over one week and the points did not materialize in my account. I left multiple messages with Tony and have not received a call back. I just want people to know the Doubletree by Hilton in Claremont is not a good hotel for cleanliness or customer service. They simply lied to me to appease me. I will not be staying at that...

Read moreI joined a friend and her family for Christmas dinner at The Orchard at DoubleTree by Hilton in Claremont. The choice was a three-course preset meal. It was $45. for the first course you had a choice of soup, spinach salad, or shrimp cocktail. Everybody in the party seemed to enjoy these. The sourdough rolls were also warm and delicious.
The choice of Maine course was chicken cordon bleu, prime rib, or sea bass. The portions of the sea bass were small and not particularly tasty. The chicken cordon bleu seemed to be okay. I had the prime rib which I ordered medium rare. It came well done. The men you said it was accompanied by a red wine au jus. prime ribs one of my favorite meals and I've never ever had it served with the au jus not being on the side. It was smeared on the top and tasted more like gravy. Perhaps it was to hide the fact that was well done as opposed to medium rare. In either case it was not good. My meal came with mashed potatoes broccoli and carrots which were all fine.
My choice of one of the three deserts was out already at 4. Most of us had the red velvet log which was okay. Was also pumpkin cheesecake which was literally the smallest piece of cheesecake I've ever seen in my life.
The service was barely acceptable with only one refill of water throughout the entire meal. This might have been okay had they been packed when I looked around there was virtually no one else in the restaurant. How can you not refill waters and beverages when you are charging 21% gratuity added to the bill?
When a meal is over $60 a person including a soft drink and tax in mandatory gratuity the food should be a lot better as well as the service.
Would not recommend. I realize it's Christmas and a lot of places were closed but really was hoping for a lot more...
