Recently, I rather unexpectedly needed to stay in Cleveland, TN for 4 days. I chose the Cleveland Hampton Inn mainly for its location, and expectation of fair price to value. My expectations were exceeded, and I had absolutely no complaints.
Upon my arrival, I was very pleasantly greeted by a housekeeper cleaning outside the front lobby door. That was just the beginning of the “hospitality” I experienced there. Over 4 days, I had numerous encounters with various staff, all of whom seemed to make a point to make eye contact, not avoid, and all exchanged pleasantries. I felt they and their smiles were sincere.
Upon my arrival, no one knew me from Adam's house cat, but they made me feel like a “V.I.P.” This was particularly the case initially with Ms. Amber (and several others) at the front desk, the numerous housekeepers, and breakfast bar staff. And then, there was Ms. Connie, who went above & beyond with her hospitality & kindness. Ms. Connie treated me more like a long lost brother than just a customer.
This was unexpectedly refreshing to be treated with such genuine outgoing kindness. From the desk staff to the cleaning staff, everyone was friendly and professional, communicating sincerity.
Running the breakfast bar, was Mr. Rogers Hornsby, who was another highlight of my stay. Quickly found out he was indeed a relative of the famous baseball hitter “Rogers Hornsby” and in fact had been named after the original. Kinda felt like I was at a family reunion, meeting some long lost relatives, and they were all glad to see me.
As to what most people might seek from a review, the entire place was very clean and modern, everything convenient, safe location. The breakfast bar was better than most (very good actually), the room window view was woods instead of concrete, and I simply had a very peaceful & enjoyable 4-day stay.
My initial primary reason for choosing this hotel was again, its location, right off I-75 between Chattanooga & Knoxville, TN. Cleveland, TN is simply a safer area, and this hotel location particularly safe. It is also a very peaceful & quiet area compared to either Chattanooga or Knoxville. Yet numerous restaurants, fast food, and shopping areas are all very close to this hotel.
Over the years I've stayed at several Hampton Inns, as well as various hotels often considered “4 Star” hotels on the international scale. Not only was the Cleveland Hampton the overall “nicest” Hampton experience I've ever had, but every aspect was as good or better than many higher-rated hotels charging considerably more.
If you're traveling I-75 thru Tennessee, and need a truly decent, modern, safe place to stay, you'll be hard-pressed to beat the Cleveland, TN Hampton Inn.
Also, it appears this location has become quite the “destination” for weddings and other events where people are coming in from every direction. It's just so much easier here than dealing with the big city traffic of Chattanooga or Knoxville...
Read moreIt took the night clerk over an hour to get us a room, mind you it was about 1am when he finally accomplished this. He did put us in a 2 queen bed unit even though we reserved a king unit. He asked me directly, "you booked a king room"? It got a little weird. I feel like he didn't want 2 women sleeping together! Lol..Ok so we walked into room 313, the smell was aweful! I am not exaggerating, it was humid , musty and smelled really bad. I went downstairs and spike to the night clerk. He moved us into 314. Good news was that it didn't smell. One of the besd was undone, Im thinking that someone was there and switched rooms. Anyways, once I finally got in bed "the unused bed" without taking a shower due to it being so DISCUSTING and full of hair everywhere, towel with blood stain on it that looked like it had already been washed but stained. The AC unit had a very unpleasant noise, the noise was constant for a while, turned off when the AC turned off, when the AC turned on it turned on. Honestly, I didn't get to sleep, it was very frustrating because we had been driving for 10 hours. Around 8am we were downstairs ready to check out, we passed by the breakfast bar and that was just another story. We didn't get anything to eat. Upon check out we had the pleased to meet Donna, this lady is unpleasant, fake and unfortunately useless. She asked me, how was your stay? I told her what had taken place and she looked at me in disgust and said "well there isn't anything I can do, you had a great rate." Now right below her was a sign that said"100 guarantee". BTW, I paid $150 to stay in this disaster for about 7 hours. To all who read this, Please do yourself a favor, don't stay here. If you do, you will remember this review. Management, if you read this, retrain your staff, clean your rooms, change the smelly carpets, switch up the breakfast. Having a good crew makes a world...
Read moreI'm doing this a little late but I wanted to express how wonderful the staff and building is! My husband and I recently got married and it happened very suddenly. I told my family about us getting married and that we were just going to do it in front of the court house but my family had other plans! They wanted to be there for it so we had to look for a place where it was big enough for a reception. Mind you we only had 2 days to find a place. I frantically went to 4 other hotels that said they couldn't do it. When I walked into the Hampton Inn I was greeted with a smile and they totally understood the frantic mess I was in. The lady at the front desk was lovely to talk too and the manager was wonderful in my time of need. They had a room that accommodated what I needed and right then and there my family and I arranged to book the room. Who ever is reading this I want you to know this place is not just a building this is a place where the people working there are kind and took care of me and family when we were in desperate need. They are wonderful people and they deserve to recognized as such! On the day of my wedding as I walked in a man at the front desk complemented me and my family as I walked down the hall and it made me feel so special. After the wedding the sweet manager and her manager came in and greeted us. They did not have to do what they did but did so with kindness and beautiful smiles. I will always recommend others to Hampton Inn because they treat others as friends. Thank all of the Hampton staff. You made a simple wedding special and no one will...
