My experience with this GameStop in the 2023 Holiday season hasn’t been the best unfortunately. The three times I’ve been into this store since Christmas Eve, I was met with very cold customer service. No hi, hello, welcome to GameStop or anything of that nature. I purchased a $50 Steam Card for my Brother-in-Law on Christmas Eve and upon activating it, the code was invalid. We firstly submitted a help ticket to Steam and they told us in their response that the “Card has been deactivated by the retailer.” The day after Christmas I went to GameStop to try and resolve the issue, but the manager who I evidently spoke to, suggested I head back home and call customer service to resolve the issue. Upon calling customer service, I was placed on hold for 35 minutes until a middle eastern man picked up and after having a short conversation which I could barely understand, told me to head back to the store and speak to the manager. Today, 12/29/23–I walked in just after opening and explained the entire situation to McKeleigh (spelling may be incorrect) and she was willing to flip open the store info book and call customer service directly. After about a ten minute conversation, they were able to issue a credit to a GameStop card and sell me a new gift card ‘number’ via printing it on the receipt. I want to give kudos to this young lady for taking the step that the manager should have taken in the first place, instead of sending me on a three day goose chase trying to get something resolved that should have been a quick fix. I understand that the activation process is outside of the associates control, it is a system based issue. The let down with GameStop is the cold customer service and lack of proper action in resolving this problem for a paying customer. It’s been a very sad process overall and I could not be more let down by the presence and professionalism of our local store. While McKeleigh solved my issue, I experienced the same initial cold customer service from her that I did the manager. As I entered the store, she looked right at me and then proceeded to turn around and continue working on the back counter (back toward me) until she realized I was standing there. She seemed to be in a ‘unhappy’ or ‘dissatisfied’ state but despite the fact, knew what she needed to do to resolve the issue and did so. Why the employees here seem so cold or unhappy, I don’t know. It could be personal reasons, or it could be the state of GameStop’s management—either way, it needs to...
Read moreYou have to have your ID on you to return anything, even with receipt and unopened item. That makes no sense especially when kids may buy things at the store don’t have an ID.
I returned an unopened Amiibo that I bought at the Switch 2 launch. Because I used some trade-in on the total purchase, they would only give me store credit when I returned the Amibo. Nevermind that the total purchase amount was nearly $600 and I only used store credit for about $340. I put the rest of the purchase on my credit card. When I returned the unopened Amiibo with original receipt, they would not just put it back on my credit card. They insisted on only giving me store credit and get this- $2.92 in cash...
