My partner and I have been staying here about every two weeks for a couple months now, so we are very familiar with this establishment. Never had any problems whatsoever and have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay, until our last stay. We’re usually booked into the same room but it was occupied this time. The AC unit in the room we were in was not working when we first came in. Was told to reset it and wait. If it still wasn’t working, we would be placed into a different room. After doing so, it did come on but would turn off after not even 5 minutes with the room still very warm. It was a very warm day and the sun was beaming right onto our room for the majority of the day, so it was quite hot in our room. My partner also has high blood pressure so this was extremely inconvenient for them. The room we are usually in has an AC unit that works wonderfully, stays on and we actually have to turn it off because it gets so cold. There was a different person working when we went back to inform them of this issue who was a bit rude and interrupted me as I attempted to explain what we were told to do. After previously being told we would be placed into another room if this problem continued, we were then questioned why we would want it cold in our room because it was “so cold outside”, when it in fact was not at all. And that the window has been closed this whole time, almost as if it’s just normal for you to keep a window open immediately after arriving to any hotel. We were also told that we would most likely not be placed into a different room because the AC did come on. We were told to turn the AC back on and to open the window. If anyone is familiar with this location, you would know it is a pretty busy area, therefore it is pretty noisy outside. Having the window open was not helping either because, as previously mentioned, it was a particularly warm day. We also were not comfortable leaving our window open all night due to the noise from the street, as well as the other patrons staying here. After going back to tell them these efforts still were not helping, the owner was called and we were told we could not be placed into another room now and we would just have to open and close our window every so often, but there was nothing else that could be done. Hoping as the night progresses, it at least gets a bit cooler in our room. For the time being, it is very hot and it’s made both of us feel ill. Never thought we’d have an unpleasant experience here as we’ve stayed many times and always enjoyed our stay. Before this experience, I would have recommended this hotel to anyone who didn’t mind the area. But now, especially after the slight change in staff, I’d just have to say be wary of staying at this...
Read moreFirst, I would give zero stars if I could. Stay away! I didn't even make it into a room before I saw the homeless camp set up right across the street. I did not feel like this was a safe location and the building looked pretty bad. I went to front desk to cancel my reservation and the girl was nothing but rude to me when I told her I was cancelling. She asked why and I told her the area didn't appear safe with the homeless living across the street, that I would find another place. She said I would find this same situation anywhere I went in Colorado Springs or Denver, that it was everywhere and that was just the way it is. I told her I still wanted to cancel. (I know the homeless have to be somewhere but I don't have to be a target.) She reminded me I would have to pay 1 night's fee and I told her that was not a problem. She started processing the cancellation and said nothing more to me so I was waiting for her to either give me some sort of receipt for the transaction or something but all I got was a curt statement from her "I don't know why you're standing there, you don't have to wait." I had no idea if a receipt of some kind was coming but she was so mad that I had cancelled, she refused to communicate what she was doing and that there would be no further paperwork coming to me. I shouldn't be dogged because I have made a different choice for my lodging. She had no reason to be so unfriendly and rude just because I cancelled. I've read the other reviews now and I'm not the only one with the same concerns about the homeless camp and the security issues surrounding it. She was plain rude and it wasn't necessary. Lady, you need to check yourself. If your job brings you to this point, it's...
Read moreIn terms of the motel itself, not a bad price for what you get. Other reviews seem to come from entitled people expecting it to be akin to the Hilton and whine when they get there. The rooms are alright but there is some need for improvement.
The bathrooms are in severe need of a remodel. The fan in the bathroom is about to blow. The toilet is rather small and the water is far too high (men be warned or your boys are going for a swim.) The tile grout needs to be scrubed.
The beds are stiff. The carpets need to be shampooed; feet turned black from walking barefoot. The AC units are need of either replacement or tune-up. They are not outputting like they should and smell of mildew.
The majority of the staff were quite nice, considering the stuff they have to put up with IE crazed customers and the homeless. However, the cleaning person was by far the biggest annoyance of my stay. I stayed in bed rather late for my vacation, so I put up the do not disturb placard on my door. Every. Morning. I would get a knock, "housekeeping." I always replied no thanks, but she would keep knocking repeating it until I shouted, "No!" I knew she could hear me because she replied, "No need housekeeping?" She even went into my room one day while I was gone, despite me telling earlier I do not need housekeeping that day. I find that rather disrespectful. On the last of my trip she came by three times and repeated my song and dance with her. On the last trip, to my room while I was packing to leave, I had enough. I told her both in English and Spainish, "For the last time, I do not need cleaning. Please go away and wait." Silence. Only to be proceeded by a loud bang on the door like a kick or a...
