Ok, I REALLY wanted to love this place but it was very disappointing. My husband and I were really excited to go tonight with our kids. We just moved here from Texas and have a favorite German restaurant in Houston we go to so we were excited to have one so close to us. I made a reservation for our family an asked for a highchair but when we were sat I had to ask the waiter, who didn't bring one, and stopped another employee to get it. No big deal but a little annoying because on their website they're very demanding about reservations and special requests. Also, we were seated right by the fireplace and it was burning up in there!!!!

Our service was a little slow but it is Valentines Day and our server said he had been there since 10 so my husband and I, being from a service industry background, completely understood. The bread rolls came out cold.. not room temperature but COLD. We ordered 2 shots, at the servers suggestion, of what was supposed to be a vodka with gold flakes but when we got it we realized it was just Goldshlager. No big deal except the server was arguing with my husband about it. When he brought the bottle to the table it was in fact Goldschlager. No biggie but strange.

When it was time to order they were out of almost the entire valentines menu but it was late so we understood. I ordered the Edelweiss Plate which on the menu stated it came with Jagerschnitzel.. the server informed me it didn't come with that but another dish and that was a typo. I was about to argue my way into getting what the menu said because that was one of the reasons I wanted it but my husband ordered Jagerschnitzel. But, I think if you have something on the menu a certain way you shouldn't tell the customer they can't have it. The salads were good, I liked the potato salad and beets! The saurkraut balls were pretty good also. As far as our entrees go... the cashew crusted chicken was dry and bland. The salmon was very over cooked and rice was undercooked and crunchy. The schnitzels my son and husband got were both very good, especially the gravy on them. My plate had cordon bleu, filet Madeira and a cured pork loin. The cordon bleu was the best of all 3. The cured pork loin was dry and tough and my filet came out RARE. I like my steak cooked medium rare and even a little under but this was seriously just seared a little and the bacon was not cooked at all. I asked the server to cook it up and he had a new piece made that was slightly more cooked but still very very rare. At least the bacon was cooked more on the 2nd piece. My son and I split it but it was not ideal. The spatzel was bland but the vegetables were tasty. I ordered a side of the red cabbage and it was cold and gummy... not at all like the red cabbage I've had before. We love to support local restaurants and probably will give this place another try, perhaps not on a busy holiday. I hope that our next experience is better than this one because we really wanted to...

Terrible service! Saturday evening, last night, I was with a large group of people who’d reserved part of the outdoor space. I was the first guest to arrive, but – due to rude, unprofessional service – the last to leave. Getting my bill after dinner took over a half hour and it was a completely unacceptable experience. Three friends were at the table with me, and we were all ready for our bill and were expecting it to come soon after we finished eating (or possibly even before, like others). The people at tables next to us were getting their bills and leaving while we sat around waiting. Finally, our waiter came and gave us the bills. It took a few more minutes for him to take our credit cards. Then we sat around and waited for about 20 more minutes. No employees came out to check on us the entire time. Finally, I was so fed up, I headed inside. There was no one in sight. I made my way back to the kitchen where I immediately noticed the staff goofing around. They seemed to be partying. One of the cooks had napkins stuffed up his nostrils, and another was dancing around. I said “excuse me,” and the napkin man said “hey, there’s customer over there.” Nobody came over to me. In the dining room nearby, several employees were sitting around rolling silverware into napkins and hanging out. It’s shocking that none of them came to assist me as I made my way to the kitchen. Anyway, I went over to them and said that my friends and I had been waiting for about a half hour to get our credit cards back so that we could leave. We were all more than ready to leave, especially since it was late and we needed to drive back to Denver. Nobody got up to help me. One of the women called out to someone else to come help us. I walked back to my table alone. About 4 minutes later, a different woman came out and said that the credit card machine was slow and they can’t print everyone’s receipts at once, “that’s just how it is.” She actually gave that as an excuse. Apparently it takes this restaurant more than a half hour to run 3 credit cards with no other customers around. Our male waiter eventually came out apologized for the delay. He definitely did not seem sober. I thought for sure he would give us a significant discount on the meal, or a coupon or something, but he offered us nothing. To top it all off, the high group gratuity rate was already included in our bill. I would not have left a tip if I had a choice. He started handing out the bills and our credit cards and gave me the wrong one twice in a row. The waitress said that she needed to run one of the cards again and was very rude and impatient. This was by far the most shocking and unprofessional experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I will never come back and will make sure others know about...

Our family - a party of 6 - chose your restaurant for a special Christmas dinner Dec 27 @ 5pm. We had a reservation for the lower basement level. We are previous visitors, usually taking out of state family and for special occasions over the years.

We greatly enjoyed many aspects of the visit especially the decor, ambiance, and the food. Overall the food & drink was excellent 5 out of 5. We were seated promptly -My estimate is we were seated at 5:05pm

Our issues/ complaints were:

-I had to remind our server to take my order (he was about to leave without taking mine) -Our drinks did not arrive for a long time (My estimate was at least 15 minutes, possibly much longer I wasn't keeping track with exact minutes) (my mother in law did not receive her hot cider until with her main course) (my wife estimates we waited more than 20 minutes for drinks) -Our drink order came incorrect (My son ordered a lemonade and received a wrong drink) -Our appetizer took a long time to arrive (we ordered the B. Holzbrett - it came with the meats and cheeses but with a pretzel type bread/shape - is this normal? - the menu says rye bread) -We did not receive our main course until approximately 6pm (my mother tracked down a server to check on the status and a moment later then it arrived) -We did notice that a larger party seated next to us (I believe a party of 8) received their main course before us -While normally we would not mind the much slower pace we had our 8 year old son with us and a different obligation we had to leave around 6:30/ 6:45pm at latest (all of my times listed above are estimates/ I wasn't writing down or keeping exact track) The other guest in our party were making comments - upset with the timing & pace which is the main reason I'm writing.

-While I understand these charges are posted on the menu I would not have left a 20% tip and the appx $4.50 gratuity for the kitchen staff. I'm a project manager for a painting company. I understand things go wrong, issues happen, etc. I'm not expecting perfection especially during a busy evening, etc. However, there was no manager to come check on our table or our visit. No one apologized for the delays. We had to check on the arrival of our main course. One of our specialty drinks was delayed until main course arrived. We were not offered a comp. (such as a desert) etc. I would not have tipped 20% for the service we received. I don't think this experience deserved a 20% automatic gratuity + kitchen tip (again nothing wrong with the food other than a bit confused on appetizer)

I did send an email on 12/28 attention to the manager/ owner for a follow-up and have not yet received a...
