So if the entire staff were as professional and nice as the gentleman who checked us in and out, David I believe his name was, I'd have given more stars. This was not the case at all. The first night there I turned the stove on and the whole place went dark And we had to move in the middle of the night. Got accused of having too much going on at once to which I replied only the stove was on and I was looked at like I was lying. We were accused of trying to get two rooms for one bedause we left a few items by mistake to which I replied 'its dark im sorry' I was basically ignored. The whole week following, there was no water for 5-6 hours daily and no hot water at all. The phone didn't work and when I spoke on it, maintenance came and replaced it and said don't break this one too. Like it was my fault but it wasnt working prior to our coming in. The main thing was we have witnesses upon witnesses who saw us several times all hours going outside to smoke and we would smoke a half amd save it for later. . The neighbors pot smoke came in through our bathroom vent and so I lit a few incense and a bit of ash wemt on the floor and counter early Sunday morning head of housekeeping came knocking once and proceeded to walk in although I called out her ask if she could return since we weren't up yet. 745 am. No warning nor notice at all.walke right in Saw our half smoked cigs and saw the ash clearly not cig ash but still accused us of smoking in the room the room charged us 250 and said if we don't have it by that evening we'd have to leave we explained our situation saying exactly what hOpened and still got put out early that . Morning. There were a lot of carts in the parking lot and we waited for our ride and instead of for a ride. As of highjacking the luggage carts we switched over to a shopping cart that was there in the parking lot. A moment later the manger I assumed , came and obviously didn't see us come out of a room and said vagrants aren't allowed and threatened to call the police unless we leave her propertyediately she continued by shaking the phone saying go on now leave.. again I emphasize the kindness and professionalism of David at front desk and I forgot to mention the housekeeper an African American lady with a short hairstyle she was amazing as well. In my honest opinion she should replace the current head of housekeeping and he should replace the property manager! The two of them are the best thing about...
Read moreWe are currently homeless and wanted somewhere saf(er) to sleep. The kitchenette was a plus as I have a lot of dietary restrictions, and prepared food is easier on me. We stayed for an accumulated five days. The only good thing about this place was location, price (per night price drops, the longer you stay - lowest price comes at 30 days, but it's still over a thousand dollars total), pets incur a $27 per night fee that drops to $10 per night only after 7 days on the same reservation.
The first room wasn't bad, but it was on the third floor, and they turned off the elevator at night. I'm not sure what time. My senior dog and I had a really hard time with all those stairs if we had to use them.
The second room was the accessible room on the first floor, 141. The first floor was a huge plus for me and my senior dog, but... the sidewalk was littered with trash, our neighbors smoked right outside the door, leading to it seeping into our room, and the bathroom was a joke. There is a lip on the "roll-in" shower. The drain was full of hair that was neither of ours and never cleaned. The water pressure and temperature were a joke - it took a long time to heat up to burning hot, then to cool down and if you didn't do it slowly, it would go totally cold and you'd need to wait forever to heat it up to tolerable. The bathroom was also dirty and old. The tile was obviously old, and the shower was very dirty. You'll see it in my pictures. The only plus was that there were plenty of clean towels. We saw a roach in our room on the wall the very first night.
The people at the front desk were always helpful and nice to us. I really liked the man there when we checked back in on Thursday, and I saw him again when we checked out today. He was very nice and helpful. They do allow you to borrow dishes, pots, pans, and utensils based on availability.
When we first arrived, someone approached us as we were unloading as little as we needed to take upstairs. He acted like he wanted to ask about my dog but kept looking behind me into the car. No one staying there bothered us except him, but you could hear people yelling often and kids running up and down the stairs screaming. You can also hear the bugle at Fort Jackson in the morning...
Read moreWe booked in advance over the phone thinking that this hotel was actually on Fort Jackson, AND it was not!? I asked the lady at check in why it listed the hotel on Fort Jackson?.... her response, "I'm not sure why they have it listed like that!?" I asked if there was any type of military discount when checking in, the front desk person said "Yes, but you have to do it online, because I don't know how to do it. " Mind you we are retired and honestly thought there would be a bit more respect when it came to being located near a military base!? NOPE, not at all. We were told that if we needed fresh towels we had to bring the used ones back to the front and get new ones, so I'm assuming house keeping is a non existent thing at the hotel. Since we were simply using the hotel to sleep we did not complain, other than the fact that the AC unit wasn't working in our room at first.... thankfully the manager came over and was able to fix that for us after calling to ask over and over 4 times for assistance. Even after all that the room was BAD!? The room smells musty and moldy, they had a sheet on the bed, but it did not fit correctly, and the mattress cover had stains all over it underneath. Thankfully there was a nearby Walmart and I grabbed a set of sheets and blanket just so we could sleep without feeling completely grossed out. The refrigerator was working but covered in rust, ALL OVER IT!? The microwave was also covered with rust on the inside, needless to say, we did not want to use either one. The faucets in the bathroom came off of the wall when turning it off and on and leaked the entire stay no matter which way we tried turning it. "Complimentary" breakfast consists of muffins and granola bars sitting in a box on the floor in the office- entrance area. In my opinion this was far from being over $200 for 2 nights. Next time we attempt to book a hotel at "Fort Jackson" we will make sure that is where it is. We would not recommend this hotel. By far one of the worst hotels we have EVER stayed at.
Horrible response from hotel management after my review. There is absolutely NO WAY we will ever return...
