This was the absolute worst hotel that I have ever stayed at in my life. Let's start off with parking. I am disabled with a leg and back injury and could not find a parking spot anywhere close to the entrance. There were people parking illegally in the handicapped parking spots with no permits. I went to the front desk to let them know and they didn't even care. They told me that they don't do anything about people parking in the disabled parking spots. I let them know how hard it would be for me to get to the front door if I had to park in the back of the hotel because there was no parking spots out front. The front desk and the manager shrugged it off like it was not a big deal. Even after I informed them that it was illegal to let people park in the disabled parking spots with no permits.Let's go to the staff. The staff was very unprofessional and undereducated about their jobs. When I tried to bring the disabled parking to their attention, they had no idea what to do. They ended up calling many different people on their cell phones to find out what they should do. They ended up having me talk to some kind of manager or something on one of their cell phones. Talking to that person on the cell phone made me even more uncomfortable by them telling me to, just go find a spot to park because they didn't want to just have somebody's car towed because of the inconvenience that their car would be gone in the morning when they went to get it. Now let's go to the rooms. These rooms were so bad. The wife and I would not even walk around our room barefooted, and our socks would be brown after walking around. When you tried to take a shower, the shower curtain would not stay closed. We'd have to try and shower with one hand holding the shower curtain closed, so the water didn't spray all over the bathroom floor. Being that I have a back and legs injury it was hard to get in and out of the shower and I slipped and almost fell getting out of the shower the first time. I ended up straining my back catching myself from falling. Everything about this hotel was outdated and screaming eighties. They had old cable television, and you didn't even know what channels were what. So you had to go up and down on the channels, just to find what you wanted to watch. We had friends stay at the Fairfield Inn just blocks from us, and it was all brand new. It had netflix prime video all the new stuff, and they paid seventy nine dollars a night. We pay eighty nine dollars a night for absolutely deplorable conditions. Now let's go to the construction. All day long, all we would be hearing is hammers and equipment noise in our room. We had to leave our room during the day and go drive around just so we could relax. If we would have had the money to cancel our hotel and find another one at such short notice, I would have done it. I would not recommend anybody staying in this hotel. I would go to the budget motel down the street before...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Hampton Inn Columbia Northeast-Fort Jackson Area and, despite ongoing renovations, found it to be a comfortable and welcoming hotel experience. Renovations & Cleanliness The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, which are expected to continue through June 2025. While some construction was noticeable, the staff did an excellent job keeping public areas clean and minimizing any disruptions to guests. Many reviewers, including myself, found the newly renovated rooms to be very nice, with modern amenities and a fresh feel. If you’re sensitive to construction, it’s something to be aware of, but it did not detract significantly from the overall stay. Rooms & Amenities Rooms are consistently clean, well-appointed, and equipped with conveniences like mini-fridges and microwaves. The beds are comfortable, and blackout curtains ensure a restful night. The property is also pet-friendly, with designated outdoor areas for pets. The location is excellent—right off the highway and close to restaurants, shopping, and Fort Jackson, making it highly convenient for both business and leisure travelers. Service The staff at this Hampton Inn truly stand out for their friendliness and professionalism. From check-in to check-out, every interaction was positive. The front desk team is particularly noted for being helpful and accommodating, even providing small touches like bottled water and cookies at check-in. Breakfast Breakfast at this hotel is a highlight. The complimentary hot breakfast offers a variety of options, and the staff keeps the area clean and well-stocked. Of all the breakfast items, the potatoes were exceptional—crispy, flavorful, and a cut above the standard hotel fare. Other guests have also praised the breakfast selection, noting that it’s a step above what you might expect at similar properties, with plenty of choices to start your day right. Overall Impression Despite the temporary inconvenience of renovations, the Hampton Inn Columbia Northeast-Fort Jackson Area delivers on its promise of comfort, cleanliness, and excellent service. The breakfast, especially the standout potatoes, is a real treat. If you’re looking for a reliable, friendly, and conveniently located hotel in Columbia, this Hampton Inn remains a solid choice—even...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Hampton Inn, Northeast Jackson Columba SC, and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing stay. Despite the hotel's supposedly high rating of 4.0, my encounter with poor cleanliness, uncomfortable bedding, and a power outage left me thoroughly dissatisfied.
Firstly, the cleanliness of the room was abysmal. The moment I entered, a musty smell permeated the air, indicating high moisture levels and dampness. The carpet felt damp and unpleasant, making the entire room feel uncomfortable. It was evident that proper ventilation was lacking, resulting in an atmosphere that was far from enjoyable.
Adding to my discomfort was the poor quality of the bed. The mattress seemed old and worn, providing inadequate support for a good night's sleep. To exacerbate matters, the sheets did not fit the mattress properly, constantly bunching up and causing further discomfort. This lack of attention to detail and guest comfort is unacceptable from a reputable hotel chain like Hampton Inn.
To top it all off, the building suffered a power outage during my stay, causing significant inconvenience. Essential amenities were affected, and basic tasks became arduous to carry out. It was disheartening to witness the lack of preparedness or efficient response from the hotel staff to rectify the situation promptly and ensure guest comfort during the outage.
Considering these factors, I find it difficult to comprehend the supposed 4.0 rating that the Hampton Inn, Northeast Jackson Columba SC, holds. In my opinion, the quality of cleanliness, the discomfort caused by the inadequate bed, and the disruption caused by the power outage warrant a much lower rating.
Regrettably, based on my experience, I cannot recommend anyone to stay at this particular Hampton Inn location. Potential guests deserve to be aware of the shortcomings I encountered during my stay. I hope that the management takes my feedback seriously and addresses these issues promptly and effectively to improve the overall experience for...
