So disappointed. The last time I stayed here I still gave them four stars because I believe that they only made some mistakes. I have stayed here several times at least five at first was very impressed. But today was the last straw. I don't like to give poor reviews unless they are warranted. I prefer to find the silver lining but in this case I could not. I called to get an early check-in and was granted one while driving through the parking lot we heard an explosion. We could not tell what that was so I went inside to be met with flickering lights. The staff was young and inexperienced and provided very little guidance other than something happened to the power we can't check you in. One of the employees mentioned that they saw a Transformer blow which I was able to verify there was an explosion so that must be the cause. There goes my early check-in I was told to expect to wait an hour. Now is important to note that the hotel does not own the Transformer it's a city issue so the time could very and certainly did. Being very sticky from a long drive hungry and wanting to use the restroom we decided to wait although I did attempt to contact IHG and switch reservations to another local hotel. That did not work. So we waited one hour turned into two perhaps two and a half hours before I could finally check in. While they could take my credit card they were not able to produce room keys so the staff of 2 made a plan that one of them would walk us up to our room and a another set of guests and let us in. I offered to walk my wife and I to the room and let them stop at the room above us first and then come down to us and let us in we could pick up the room keys later. 20 minutes later bladder is ready to burst for both of us I walk down to the front lobby to show my face and hope that they would recognize I'm still waiting the hotel simply is not that big. 10 minutes later for a total of 30 now I'm pissed I go back down to see both employees there and the gal simply forgot that there was another person waiting to get into the room. That was the first real issue. Then we go into the restrooms do a quick inspection of the room to find pretty fresh boogers on the inside of the shower curtain then looking further it's missing a large light bulb which when exposed to moisture can cause an issue and is a safety hazard and the tub is absolutely cracked on the outside and if you ran your skin against it it could break your skin pretty unsafe. Within the room itself the carpet was filthy and we found Cheerios and what looked to be a hunk of steak on the floor. whoever was supposed to clean this room certainly didn't do it. Although the desk clerk who had finally walked me up with a key to open the door offered breakfast chits I declined as as I already felt this was going to be a difficult stay. If I could give zero stars for this day that's what I would give I'm not sure what happened to the Holiday Inn Executive Center but it needs to get fixed. One more thing there were events going on at the Executive Center, I'm not certain why there wasn't some form of backup generator that worked or some plan at the hotel had in case of losing power but it was concerning that there was still an event that was allowed to continue in the dark. Seemed unsafe to me in if there was another emergency. now I want to visit my daughter in college I will have to find another...
Read moreAs you pull up to the property, it looks very nice and inviting. The front desk is modern, fresh and new. Check in went ok, although we were told Breakfast wasn't included in our reservation only to learn it was on our 3rd day. The elevators are very fast but sometimes kinda work with their own mind. It wasn't scary or anything, you just never knew until you got into the elevator if you were actually going up or down sometimes. Our room was 459, on arrival it look like a normal room. It appeared clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and an assortment of pillow were great. The carpet in our room wasn't so clean & fresh. We learned this after my daughter was walking in her white socks, she went to put her shoes on and the bottoms of her socks were BLACK. The bathroom door handle was barely hanging on. Our biggest problem with our room was the bath/shower. If you took a 5 minute shower, you ended up standing in 1.5' to 2' of water. My wife reported these issues to the front desk twice on day 1 & once on the morning of day 2. Frustrated, I personally went down and spoke with Drew. DREW WAS GREAT & UNDERSTANDING. He took down all my issues and I watched him call on the radio to report the issues. We returned to our room late that night to find no one came to our room to fix the problems. I took a fresh towel and walked on our floor for 5 to 10 minutes and then took it to the front desk to complain along with a picture of the bath tub. I was told it would be fixed in the morning (the day we checked out). That morning NO ONE visited our room. After a 3rd day of a disgusting shower I visited the front desk. Drew was working, he remembered my name & room number. He was shocked to learn nothing was fixed in our room & might have been more angry than me because they reported back to him that the repairs were completed. We had good and bad experiences at the restaurant. First night dinner wasn't very good and the service was horrible. The second night we heard great things about the pizza and had a great server & the pizza was really good. Night 3 I enjoyed an App & Drinks. I believe Lisa was the bartender & even though she was crazy busy she was friendly and attentive. The pool & workout room was great. Indoor & Outdoor pools & lots of options in the workout room. The back of the property needs some work. Lights were broken & laying in the grass with wire exposed. In conclusion the place has lots of potential & some really good people who work there & care. It also has some that could care less & don't do their job. We had friends who stayed in another room & had no issues however it was a suite not a...
Read moreUpdate: A representative from the hotel reached out and expressed her concern over the matter. She apologized for the incident and provided a complementary one-night stay. Of course, I’m still unhappy with my experience, but I greatly appreciate the follow-up. Review changed from 1/5 to 3/5.
My reservation was made on March 29, 2023 for a three night stay from July 24th - July 27th. I was asked to complete an online check-in the day before my reservation was to start.
I arrived at the hotel at approximately 4pm on July 24th. I was there for a large convention and there was a significant line of people waiting to get in. I was able to reach the front desk at approximately 5:30pm. At that time, I was told that there were no rooms available at the moment because housekeeping was behind. My name was placed on a wait-list and I was told to come back to the hotel after I was called.
I waited until 8:30p.m. and had never received a call. I re-entered the hotel and waited until 9:00p.m. before I was helped at the front desk. I was told that the hotel was overbooked at 115% capacity. The front desk person told me that there was never going to be a room for me and that the other lady creating the wait-list didn't know what she was doing. I was told that they had every room filled and that I'd need to find somewhere else to stay.
I'm confused as to how this was allowed to happen. I understand that hotels overbook to cover no-shows, but a 15% surplus of bookings is unconscionable. The convention was planned months in advance. There is no reason that management could not have anticipated this problem arising. Management failed to take the steps required to prevent this problem from occurring, and for that they deserve 0/5 stars.
I had to find a different hotel and pay a higher than the rate I was guaranteed at Holiday Inn. My loss as a result of Management's poor planning is $58, and that my trip had to be shortened by one day. I would like to speak to a representative to compensate...
