The room in our hotel was spacious, but smelled moldy, it was constantly damp. We are members of Choice Privileges so we got a special rate for the King Suite with whirlpool tub. On the second night, we had spent the day walking through Portsmouth and I have some health issues and was in desperate need of hot water therapy. This is what we got. When we complained to the night manager told us to just run the water for a while. I was also told I could speak with the general manager when we checked out Sunday. He was not there, so I called on Monday. Mr. Patel was rude, condescending and said we could've checked out--in the middle of the night--with no refund for that nights stay. Then he argued I had nothing to complain about since I had reduced rate already, a rate that was given to me as a Choice Privileges member, not because we were going to have putrid water that we couldn't shower, brush our teeth, make a pot of coffee. Finally he offered 10% of the room rate...$11.80. At this point it wasn't about the money. There was a broken water main somewhere in the town, I understand that things happen. It's the way the manager spoke to me, the was no understanding.

Stayed here for a few days and while the staff was friendly and accommodating—letting us check in early and helping when the cable went out—the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The room was mostly clean, but we had to request new sheets immediately upon arrival due to visible dirt smeared on them, which was disappointing. The hotel itself feels very outdated. The TVs are small and unreliable, the beds are hard and uncomfortable, and the rooms are damp and humid. Everything from the furniture to the fixtures looks worn out and in need of serious renovation. For the price, I expected better quality. It’s not a terrible place, but it’s far from worth what they charge. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Beds were comfortable. Sinks and shower were worn and cracked. Internet service was absolutely horrible. Will consider another hotel when staying in the area next time. Edited review after staying here a second time. Found a cockroach in my room. When it was reported to the office staff they shrugged it off. I guess they’re used to living with them. And the breakfast is still a brown paper bag with a granola bar and piece of fruit. Pathetic considering they’re charging almost $200 a night. Updated 11/21/21

Very Nice Inn & a Good Night's Rest||Cost - |The price was reasonable - and as cheap as I am, I don't say that often! Our room was clean, fresh, and comfortable. What more could I reasonably ask for at the price? |FOUR pillows on the bed allowed ME to cover my ears and sleep while wife watched late night TV. The Inn itself was nice & quiet while we were there. ||Speaking of quiet... There IS a RR track nearby. Rail traffic was fairly frequent during our visit. I'm a train geek, so I loved the sounds, plus I can sleep through almost anything. My wife (a much lighter sleeper) said she never noticed ANY train noise. Just keep in mind - if you're a light sleeper, you may want to ask for a room AWAY from the tracks.| |Amenities - |Breakfast was very nice. Nothing elaborate, but fresh & hot Biscuits & gravy, fresh fruits, waffle maker and what tasted like REAL coffee...not that powered "shtuff" some places offer. There are also several eateries nearby, many within easy walking distance.||The pool (which was down for repairs in a prior review) is fully functional, and looks GREAT. Clean and inviting. The water was pleasantly warm.||The "business center" - a pc in the lobby - worked just fine for my needs. Being the last person on earth not having a phone, I really rely on the bc to stay in touch with family||Some Choice hotel locations have small individual safes in each room. This location does not.||Staff - |Last but certainly not least...Very friendly. I was a long ago resident of Scioto county. Every time I talked with Debbie and Rena, I felt like I was "home" again, talking with neighbors. Thank you, ladies! ||I've stayed here several times over the years, and hope to return this summer. I'll certainly choose THIS location. This is my...

Stayed here for a week. 1st night here kids were excited to get in pool. I was getting towels when they got in , turned around noticed pool was green, stuff was floating in it. Kids complained they was itching. They got out. I took a pic. Talked to front desk , they said they had just put shock in it. Next morning kids had a rash and my son had itched so bad he had sores on him. Later that night the pool was shut down due to maintenance and not reopened the remainder of the stay. Unfortunately there was baseball tournaments going on that week so hotels were booked in the area so I couldn't get a hotel till the following Wednesday. So I was pretty much stuck there till then. Another thing is the doors that surround the building. Usually you have to have a key to enter. Not here. Anyone can enter the building through any door at anytime. The locks on the outside doors do not work. But they did try to reassure the guests that they do have cameras that surround the building. For safety, I guess that makes you feel safe. We did find a nice Comfort Inn 30 miles away on Wednesday to finish the remainder of our stay that we were very satisfied with. But as far as Wheelersburg Comfort Inn , we will not be staying...

I was taking getting out of the shower as the house keeping attendant was knocking in the door and enetered the room while I had the do not disturb sign out. 20 minutes prior to check out.||I was at the front desk checking out at 10:55, 5 minutes before check out. I asked to speak with the manager to discuss this matter and he immediately got defensive, said "it's only 5 minutes before check out - no big deal". |And it was my fault for not answering the door when she knocked... I'm not typically one to answer the door until properly dressed.||No apology. No sympathy. Simply defensive of their rush to get guests out and get to his lunch break.||I then contacted Choice hotels to discuss with management, and they connect d him into the he call with us. When we clicked over he did not hear or know and both myself and the Choice hotels representative heard the general manager making fun of the situation, laughing, and calling me stupid.||The Choice hotels representative very quickly compensated me for the general managers insults.||I am a Diamond Choice member and have never seen a manager this horrible at his job, or as condescending to his guests. ||We will be pulling our Railway contract from this location...
