I spontaneously decided to take a last-minute beach trip for my son, as Corpus Christi was just a few hours away and a new destination for us. Relying on a glowing recommendation from a close friend, I booked a room for our stay. Arriving early, I had hoped for an early check-in, especially being 7.5 months pregnant after enduring traffic for a while. Unfortunately, the early check-in fee was quite steep at $75, as informed when I called ahead. Opting to head straight to the beach while waiting, we encountered a busy check-in process with only two staff members handling the rush during Spring Break. Despite the wait, the staff remained friendly and accommodating. After check-in, we decided to dine at the hotel restaurant, but it was closed for dining. We settled for ordering at the bar, only to discover they were out of many menu items we desired. Our food arrived in to-go containers without any condiments or the house ranch for the mushrooms. Returning to the bar, the staff was apologetic but lacking in explanations for the missing items. When I requested the condiments, I was initially told that they couldn't fetch them due to a shortage of runners. Offering to retrieve them myself, I was surprised when the staff member volunteered to get them since there was no kitchen access. Despite the inconvenience, I appreciated the effort taken to address the oversight. The food was terrible, fried items were cooked in old dirty oil, I ordered the burger plain with no cheese and was told “everything comes on the side”. It came out with cheese, and everything on top. Overall it just was not worth the $55 spent, at this point I knew they were busy so I just decided to go ahead and order door dash instead of causing a big deal. My stomach was upset and I was sick, not able to eat my salad from ChicfilA. Once we were in our room and trying to get comfortable for bed, the neighbor next to us were incredibly loud for hours. Banging the walls/door and I could hear everything they said. It took calling down to the desk 5 times before the phone was picked up. They addressed it, so I moved on with the night. I consider myself quite patient, but the final straw came when a peculiar incident occurred. While preparing to shower after my son fell asleep around 10 pm, a stranger unexpectedly entered my room. He apologized and explained that we had been assigned the wrong room. Feeling uneasy, being a single mother with a toddler and also pregnant, I went downstairs to voice my concerns. The receptionist appeared overwhelmed but courteous; however, I felt my situation was not taken seriously. Only after my intervention did he check on us or offer an apology. Initially, he blamed a "glitch" for the room mix-up. I mentioned I would address this further at check-out to swiftly return to my son. Unfortunately, upon returning to my room, my keys did not work. Upon returning to the front desk, he then realized that I should have been in room 430 all along, contradicting his earlier explanation of a "glitch" as he was the one who checked me in five hours prior. The air conditioner was also malfunctioning, and at 6 am, we were startled by the fire alarm. Exhausted from the sleepless night, I chose to shorten our trip and return home. During check-out, I requested to speak with a manager who seemed unaware of the situation. Although he apologized, I felt that the seriousness of the safety concern was not fully acknowledged. The manager advised me to contact the third-party booking service I had utilized, and he assured me that he would make notes about the incident for a complete refund. I received an email from the booking company, mentioning that the manager they discussed with approved only a partial refund. They seemed unaware of the situation again and only mentioned my complaint about the AC, despite being assured it would be documented. I wouldn't choose to stay at this place again or recommend it, even with its fantastic beachfront location. if management had dealt the situation better at the time, I might not have been as...
Read moreDO NOT STAY! HEALTH DEPARTMENT WILL BE CALLED!|First I am stuck here one more day. See attached photos that still understate the condition of this hotel! It's HORRIBLE, service is AWEFUL, and the smell is DISGUSTING. We are waiting for our 3rd room change which I don't believe will happen. Bugs crawling on the ceiling which dropped down, black mold and dust from the air vent, there were poop streaks in the toilet, floors and tub are gross, boogers and food on curtains, and sea mold on outer windows and that's the second room! We left for dinner after the second room change and was told that it would be cleanef and taken care of by the time we returned. Only the poop streaks were cleaned. I called and demanded someone from the font desk come look and was told they can't but would send housekeeping up aga8n they never came. This morning we found that clean towels were clean and two hours later still waiting for new ones.|Now for the breakfast, it is cold bread and Begels with oranges only. Go next door to the Holiday Inn Express for their full all you can eat breakfast. It is great for $10!|The lobby will tell the tale of what your rooms will be like. The windows and doors are filthy, the automatic and handicapped doors do not work, it's muggy, and the elevators are dirty and wreak. One smells like straight urine! This was reported and the response was "oh that's not acceptable". Yet no action or cleaning has been done.|Parking! $10 a day the the front desk made me pay even after I advised I was with a group where parking fees were excluded! Still he had me scan and pay. I confirmed this morning and was told I should not have been told to pay.|Customer service. I only have a problem with one person is unconcerned. He only says if there's a problem we can move you again. I asked got a manager and was told he's not in and was given his "personal" number. Well I called and it was the front desk number. When the attendant answered he then hung up on me!|The beach! It's a pet friendly hotel and you can smell the pet friendliness coming from the sand. The beach of the of the property has trash out there. If you want to rinse off you will use the water hose provided free of charge.|The indoor pool. It's like a sauna and has a strong smell of mildew. Go next door to Holiday Inn where they allow you to use their pools for free if you are staying at Emerald beach!|So th8s is my first 24 hour experience. I will update when I either get a response from management or leave this hotel if I can find anything on memorial day weekend.|We are here as a group with a basketball organization for a youth tournament and paid close to $500 for this mess. I will not accept anything less then my money back.I will be providing the health department with this information and ALL of the pictures. I will also contact the better business bureau and any other hotel licensing and hospitality boards of i receive just another generic response and apology that seems to be the case with ALL of the MANY poor reviews. There are so many apologies but clearly they do not correct the issues reported. They address everything in the apology except for people not getting their money back so they can go to another hotel|Lastly let me add that several of the team parents have had to request room changes for unacceptable issues. This is not a me issue, there are several of us!|UPDATE|We ultimately ended up checking out a day early and went to the Holiday Inn Express next door. The smell became intolerable, more bugs were found, which included the in the lobby. We were told by Ali that the manager David would be notified and we would not need to make contact again as we would be refunded the prepaid charges for the day we did not stay, plus a discount for the first night for the poor experience, my parking fees, and the $100 incidental fee. NONE OF WHICH HAVE OCCURRED. In fact the charges are no longer pending, they...
Read moreDO NOT EVER STAY HERE. Edit added 7-21-2025 Below. I apologize in advance for the length of this post. HOWEVER you will want to read to avoid this place at all cost. YES the view was worth it for maybe the 1st day. BUT... If I could give this negative stars I would. When we 1st checked in we were told that we had to pay nightly for parking which is done by a 3rd party and cost $15+ Tax each night. BEYOND STUPID. I read nothing about having to pay for parking when I booked this stay. Hotel smells musty. Now I get it.. it's right next to a body of water so it will have a bit of a smell but it could 100% have been better. The place is falling apart and is MAJOR need of updates. I have enclosed several photos and a video (Please forgive our lived in area). The video may be hard to hear but the elevator is sketchy. I was honestly afraid it would fall. The room was falling apart, rusty and moldy, and not well kept at all. The balcony was gross. We checked out early informing them that we were headed on to Utah early to continue with our Honeymoon, Which were were on, by the way. But we were honesty afraid they would tell us No if we did complain to them about the room. I did get 1 night back of our stay but had to stay for 2 night of our 3 in order to not lose out on to much money. Then I waited till I got that refund back to my card before I posted this. There is Mold on the curtains. The sliding door was pulling away from the wall. The couch was SO gross. There was mold or something on the ceiling. (See the black speckles with in the popcorn ceiling)The AC is SOOOO outdated and it could not keep up with the humidity. There was rust or something on the undersides of the Lamp Shade and rust on the outlets. Mold on the Photos behind the glass. The shower didn't drain. I mean it literally took all night for it to finish draining so my husband could take a shower the next morning. The celling in the bathroom was a drop down which is super weird for a bathroom and in major need of repair. The phone kept going off all by itself saying that it could not reach the party (we didn't try to call anyone) We did however try to reach the front desk to tell them about the phone and it said it could not reach them so we just unplugged the phone. I can't say enough bad things about this place. I was SO disappointed as we were just married and I had never seen the ocean and was super excited to be right on the water but I was in TEARS as soon as we stepped into the room. This was thee worst experience in a hotel that I have ever had!! I hope the Owners or whom ever see this as I would love to have my whole stay back in a refund. The start to my honeymoon was ruined due to this stay.
Edit 7-21-2025. I Reached out to this MARY in Guest Relations that responded to my review to find out that this person DOES NOT exist. I spoke with the Hotel manager who confirmed this. I told him I wanted my whole stay refunded to me due to the lies and the condition of the hotel. I told him I found MANY other reviews that had her name etc. on it and basically all the responses from anyone were copy and paste. He denied my refund (I knew he would). I told him I myself worked at a hotel as front desk for many years and knew he could as a manager give me my money back as this hotel was individually owned. He...
