This stay was a complete disaster. I reserved specifically a room with a bay view. When I checked in they gave me my keys and said “ enjoy you Bay view room.” After a long trip, my family was exhausted and looking forward to getting up to our room. When we got in I opened the curtains only to see a complete brick wall. I left my family out in the hallway and I went downstairs to inform them that this was not the room I reserved. After explaining the situation to the attendant she was unapologetic and refused to give me the room I reserved. She said that room was sold out and because I reserved through a third party, her hands were tied. After asking for the manager, he said that the rate had went up for that room ( after they told me it was sold out) and if I wanted it o would have to pay $269. If it was sold out, how could I get the exact room I reserved ? After 10 minutes of confronting them on these issues, and asking why they said this room was sold out, and now it wasn’t if I paid the $269. It was very late and my family and I were exhausted. I ended it paying for the room with my credit card and disputed with my credit card company. Currently, I have spent over 4 hours with my credit card company ( who agrees that this is ridiculous and should be refunded). The manager of the hotel is not budging one bit about refunding me my $. I paid 22,000 of my reward miles and now $269 for the hotel = $ 479 for one night. My credit card company have talked to him more than twice and he absolutely stands by his decision and will absolutely not refund me. The time involved with all this is ridiculous. We are now having to try other avenues. The staff here are completely rude and dishonest. I would never recommend this hotel at all. The sheets were also dirty and the toilet seat as well. At the swimming pool they were letting customers go to the bar and bring glassware out to the pool. I can’t even believe that I have had to dispute these ridiculous charges. So much time wasted on a completely...

Sometimes, the best part of a trip isn’t the fishing, the sightseeing, or even the food—it’s the comfort and convenience you find at your home base. On a recent getaway to Corpus Christi, I discovered just that at the Residence Inn off the main highway (right off SPID for those who know the area).
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. The property was modern, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. My room was incredible—plenty of space, great lighting, and décor that felt more like a stylish apartment than a typical hotel room.
As a Marriott Titanium Elite member for many years, I’ve come to appreciate the perks that come with loyalty, but this stay reminded me exactly why I work to keep that status. One word: late checkout. Most guests have to be out by 11 a.m., maybe 1 p.m. if they’re lucky or willing to pay extra. But as a Titanium Elite member, I can often stretch that to a 4 p.m. checkout—if availability allows.
On this trip, it was a game-changer. My morning was spent on a guided fishing trip out in the Gulf, about five or six hours under the sun. By the time we got back around 1 p.m., I was sweaty, salty, and ready for a shower before our drive back to San Antonio—just two and a half hours away. Thanks to that late checkout, I didn’t have to rush. We got back to the hotel, cleaned up, relaxed for a bit, and hit the road refreshed instead of frazzled.
It might sound simple, but for me, that was the highlight of the trip—the little luxury of time and comfort. So thank you, Marriott, for making it possible.
As for Corpus Christi itself, it’s a fun city with great coastal charm, though I do think it has room to upgrade in some areas to match its potential as a top-tier Texas destination. Still, the Residence Inn will definitely be my go-to spot here. Sometimes, a trip is only as good as where you get to come back to at the end of the day—and in this case, it was the...
Read moreI stayed at this property for 3 nights with family of 4. The overall property cleanliness and quality of the room was fine. Location of hotel was central, so easy access to everything. Complimentary breakfast was decent, but with little to no change every day. So if you have a long stay you may get bored of it.
I give a poor rating mainly due to the staff quality. No toiletries provided upon arrival. Wanted to request shampoo, bath gel, lotion, etc. Could not call frontdesk from room phone as it was always on busy tone, even though they were not busy (my room was on first floor so I just walked out and looked, no one else there). So went to front desk and requested and waited for an hour and no response. Went a second time and they said they will send the items to room again. No response again for the rest of the night. Went again next morning, and they again said they will drop off items in room. In the end they dropped off just 2 bottles of lotion. So they expect my whole family to bathe with 2 bottles of lotion? I am not sure if it is they do not have the items in the hotel. If so, then fine I can go out and get it myself. The most infuriating part is they keep promising they will deliver but did not, and my whole family keep waiting to have a proper shower.
The other issue was maintenance came in the room where I explicitly request no maintenance and cleaning staff enter during our stay due to Covid concerns (I have an infant and a young child unvaccinated). In the end they came in after we left the room. How would I know? because they replaced the non-working lightbulbs on some lamps and just left the non-working lightbulbs on the table. That too is a hazard had my young kids played with those and broke them before I saw it.
Overall, will not stay again although it is a nice property. The staff was friendly enough, but are not competent to handle even such...
