This is a long review - I don't write many reviews, but this hotel is DEFINITELY worth the time to write this review!! GrandStay Hotel in S. Dakota was GREAT!! There is more than plenty available parking spaces, also has several wheelchair accessible handicap parking spaces. The Hotel sits back from the road making it a quiet atmosphere. Dalton and Melissa were SO kind, helpful and caring. Dalton gave us info on things to do and nice places to eat. He knew where everything was down to the names of streets and # of stop lights! The bar was very nice w/ reasonable prices. My son REALLY enjoyed talking to Dalton and learning a little bit more about SD. Melissa was so kind and helpful. I spent alot of time in the lobby in the middle of the night ( I don't sleep well), she was a GREAT listener and VERY comforting when I had a disturbing phone call from home at 3am. The rooms were exceptionally clean, new, and modern furnishings. The housekeeping staff were very hospitable and extremely kind. They provided us additional towels and blankets without acting like we were bothering them. They asked if we wanted our rooms cleaned daily, we didn't feel needed except our trash emptied. I asked for a few trash bags so I could empty the trash and they insisted on doing that for us instead of us doing it ourselves . They always asked if we needed refills on our coffee and condiments!! Our 1st night in SD we stayed one night at GrandStay, then had to travel to a different location and hotel for 2 nights (the other hotel was a NIGHTMARE from h€ll... I will leave a separate review on that hotels site). After our 2 night nightmare stay at a different hotel, we still had 3 additional nights in South Dakota that we needed a room for. We went to another hotel in Brookings, SD and paid for 3 nights. We went to our room on the 2nd floor w/ NO elevator. The room was horrible (dirty with foot prints on the bed spread, smelled moldy, ect). Needless to say, I requested a refund ( I will leave a separate review on the hotel in Brookings)...Despite GrandStay being a little out of the way of where we were going, I knew we'd have a very comfortable, nice room that was clean, bed bug free, a warm, tasty & free breakfast w/ a variety of choices each morning and a staff that cared about your comfort and needs. GrandStay has an elevator 😉, bar, a clean, refreshing indoor pool w/ a hot tub, on-site laundry, bar, gym and a vending area. Everything was clean, neat, very modern and extremely well taken care of. I wish there were more GrandStay hotels in the USA. Hands-down this is the chain I'd stay at EVERY TIME I traveled!! Our last day of our stay (check out was 11am) the staff knew our flight wasnt until 6pm. They accommodated us, no charge, and let us stay until 2pm. Before we checked out I met Eric, the owner. He was very nice and sociable. You can tell he takes great pride in this hotel and it showed. I thought the hotel was BRAND NEW, but actually is 6yrs old...That's how good this hotel is taken care of!! I wish I had more pictures to share but hopefully my review...
Read moreHighly unprofessional and poor management, not to mention poor customer experience. The issues below have not been addressed and or resolved. No guest should have to be put through the poor hospitality and rude behavior of staff.
Booked a block of rooms for my wedding on September 2023. Have now had multiple guests contact me directly stating that the grandstay hotel in Tea, SD had no reservations blocked under the wedding last name. Called the Grandstay hotel in Tea, SD on July 31st at 1:51pm to see why guests for the wedding were unable to book. Spoke with an Emily who stated that the spelling of the last name was incorrect and that she corrected it. Emily also stated that all rooms for our wedding block were booked for the first night and there were 13 room’s remaining for the second night. Emily went on to state that Sadie would be in contact with me that same week to help resolve the issue more and to compensate an extra $30 off wedding guest rooms due to the major inconvenience and error on the grandstay hotel.
Furthermore, did not hear back from Sadie at all the week of July 31st. Attempted to call the hotel multiple times that week with no answer. Then called the hotel again on August 8th at 12:42pm which once again did not go through and got a busy tone. Called again at 12:52pm and was informed that Sadie had to go to the post office and would call back. Finally at 1:05pm received a phone call back from Sadie who went on to state that she didn’t see anything wrong with the wedding block and that no guests have booked in the blocked. Upon further conversation some guests who have booked at the hotel were booked outside of the block which were moved into the block.
Sadie went on to state that all of the wedding block was still open when on the conversation with Emily she noted that all of the wedding block was full on Friday and there were 13 rooms remaining on Saturday. When asking Sadie about the $30 off compensation for the wedding guest rooms that was promised by Emily due to the major inconvenience and poor customer experience in attempting to book with the Grandstay hotel in Tea,SD for a wedding.
Sadie become hostile/argumentative and hung up on the guest. Attempted to reach the hotel again only to revive a busy tone and to...
Read moreHighly disappointed. This hotel itself is relatively new and modern and was available for a great price, so we booked a night stay. Once we got into our room, that is where things went downhill. It was filthy. It was not just one thing that was missed by housekeeping, there were multiple areas that were not cleaned properly. I have never stayed at a hotel where cleanliness issue, so I was very shocked to find crumbs/wrappers on the bathroom floor, hair in the soap dish, dust on EVERYTHING, including the tissue box holder, toaster, lamp and clock radio, fingerprints/grease on the microwave and the carpet was clearly not vaccuumed, including trash/large pieces of debris that were left under the bed in plain sight. You would have to be blind as a housekeeper to leave the room in the condition it was in. The front desk associate apologized and offered to re-clean our room, so we had to leave the building for over an hour. Why not just move us to a different room, or provide some type of compensation for something that is purely unacceptable in hotel standards? That is the least they could have done. No concern was expressed or compensation was given. We are from out of town and love Sioux Falls, but will try somewhere else next time. Will not be returning to this hotel and would not recommend! Spend a few extra dollars, save yourself the headache and stay...
