I paid for the time they were making mistakes and fixing them. Inefficient and expensive. Mac was inconsiderate and refused to make any adjustment to the bill. I needed six Cat 5 cables fished in a finished house. In the preliminary visit for the price estimate, the electrician told me that would be expensive. He had a better solution - my “house was already wired with Cat 5” which he would use. I asked him at least four times if he was sure about that, since few years back an electrician fished four Cat 5 cables (three upstairs and one downstairs in the same finished house for $280). I was assured multiple times that there was no question about that – “the house is wired with Cat 5” and he did not understand why the previous electrician did not use it. The bill would be about $400 for the plates installed on numerous locations using the old wiring. I was asked to purchase cables and a switch which I did. After 10 days, the same electrician came and brought a trainee. Both were very pleasant and polite. We moved furniture. The telephone lines were cut downstairs. After the cutting was done, the trainee discovered that the wiring was Cat 3 and not Cat 5. Then the technician had to “think about alternative solution”. He could not figure out for some time how the previous electrician was able to fish four wires in the finished house. Finally he found out and decided to duplicate the previous electrician work by fishing a single wire from upstairs straight to the room below (this was not my initial intention but was better than nothing). The wire was fished from upstairs to the room straight below. Initially a thicker cable was tried. Then a thinner one. Then the hole was made larger. Then the taping broke and adjusted multiple times until the wire was fished. I received the bill and called Sorlien Electric. The secretary was very nice. She connected me to another electrician. I explained the situation and asked him why I should be paying for the time the crew created unnecessary problems, the time to fix them and the time to come up with another plan which was not presented to me during the initial free evaluation. It should have taken less than 5 min to confirm Cat 3 vs. Cat 5 during the initial visit. The electician said “OK”. I had no idea what “OK” means. In few days I called again to see how much the adjustment would be. The secretary was very polite. She contacted Mac who told her that he would not make any adjustments and the initial bill was correct and final. I paid the $468. I do not want to deal with this company again. My previous electrician spent half the time and cost less to fish four wires compared Sorlien Electric to fish one. One of the four wires was also fished to a room downstairs which was not even located straight below (as it was for Sorlien), from the same location upstairs (as it was for Sorlien). Management (Mac) should train his employees to do the job efficiently, not charge customers for time wasted...
Read moreCalled them to get an estimate on a job of replacing an old breaker panel in my home that the home inspector mentioned didn't have enough breakers for the number of circuits (some of the breakers were improperly double-tapped. As far as getting someone out to do an estimate for the job they were very quick to do so, also got an estimate back in a reasonable amount of time. They weren't the only ones that I had lined up to get an estimate for this work, so I hadn't called them back to do the job right away when their estimate came in.
After I had a quote from the other companies, I determined that Sorlien would be the better company to have do the job and gave them a call to setup a time that the work could be done. The person I needed to talk to was on their lunch break, so I was directed to their voicemail, I left a voicemail with my contact info and details of the job and estimate I was calling about. So far I've heard nothing back from them (I had called them way back on June 13th, it's now August), in the time since I called them I waited a week and was in contact with one of the other companies that gave an estimate, and they were able to come out within a week and complete the work.
What I needed done wasn't an emergency, but at the same time I find it highly unprofessional to not return a customer's call. The process of getting an estimate for the job was quick and easy, when it came time to have them setup a date for when they could do the job that is where it...
