If I stated that I couldn’t pay for the room in the morning, Why did my key still work at 6:00pm? PROFILING
Notice how he insist that I was told that the prices may adjust when he or anyone else wasn’t there to witness the conversation? PROFILING
I am in contact with bluegrass hotels and the Marriott to escalate this situation.
Me and my family had stayed here for 3 nights extending the room day by day until we were given notice from our property management that repairs are done at our apartment. Each morning I would check and see if the repairs are fixed and extend another night. Each day the prices were around $150/Night, With the bill being charged at the end of your stay due to their policy. On the 4th day, I stopped by the front desk around 6:50am, and spoke with a young woman who name I can’t remember. I asked about the pricing to extend another night as usual and was told that it would be the same price as the previous night which was fine. HERES THE BAD PART
I come in from WORK about 6:00pm and head upstairs and shower as normal, I then come downstairs to grab a Pepsi and I am then told by front desk that they have been trying to contact me(BY CALLING THE ROOM). The young lady then tells me the issue that the prices of the hotel room has increased and the room would now be around $270/Night(THIS IS AT 6:00PM).I then address that I am concerned because the person at the front desk told me otherwise and that I was good to go and taken care of. I ask to speak to a manager and I explain the situation over the phone, While I could barely explain the situation without being rushed due to kids yelling in the background. I was then told to they would call the young lady that was at the front desk and ask her, She then lies and says that she told me there would be a chance the price would increase. IF I RESERVE A ROOM AT 6:00am HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO INCREASE THE PRICE AT 6:00pm???
Upon speaking with the general manager I am told that he will address the issue with his team but there’s nothing he can do about the pricing… I either need to pay the additional or leave the hotel room.
I do believe this was an honest mistake by the front desk lady in the morning but I do not believe that I was heard and my opinion was swept under the rug due to me being a black man with dreads.
The hotel even checked me out of my room to rebook me without my permission instead of adding the additional night to the same reservation. I was definitely judged, They manager told me that they attempted to charge my card and it didn’t go through, As if they were checking to see if I had the money the card declined because it was locked and I was told I would be charged at checkout, Which wasn’t supposed to be while I was at work! I’m at Marriott member my phone number is on my profile no one attempted to reach out to me.
Again I do believe this was a mistake that was not acknowledged or compensated due to me being a young African American with dreads. I was treated wrongly given the choice to pay the additional fees or leave!
There’s a rare chance that I’ll be heard due to the front desk, Hotel manager and general manager and majority of the hotels employees being apart of the same racial community. Once hearing the accent of the general manager was the same as the last two people I...

I’ll start off with the pros: The front desk staff were friendly Convenient location to Durham/Raleigh/Chapel Hill etc.
Cons: We stayed here from Friday-Monday. Housekeeping was nonexistent. Then had the nerve to have one of those tip envelopes in the room.
Our room door didn’t lock properly. Therefore, we had to slam it every time to get the locking mechanism to work. Which I’m sure thus was super annoying to the other guests on the floor. But, the alternative would have been to keep our room unsecured which was not an option.
The hotel is directly off of the highway (which we knew prior to booking). But, you would think they would have gotten quality windows to combat the noise. Nope. You will hear EVERYTHING!
The bed linen was subpar. Especially while COVID is still here. I think it’s absolutely disgusting to use duvet inserts without a proper duvet cover. Here they use a flat sheet on top and bottom of the insert. Which I can only assume they change out the sheets but don’t wash the insert after every guest. The insert obviously comes out of the flat sheets very easily which means it’s a high likelihood you are sleeping in the previous guests germs. Given that housekeeping didn’t clean our room once, it left us constantly trying to keep the sheets on our body without touching the insert.
Our bathroom shower handle was broken and was hard to set to a certain temp. We could see that the previous guests tried to jury-rig and stuff tissue behind it to keep the water temp. Clearly this should be fixed by the hotel.
My profile states a request for extra towels (remember housekeeping didn’t clean our room once). Our room only had two towels and two washcloths from check-in. When we called down for more the front desk person exclaimed she was the only person there so couldn’t bring any up. After mentioning this was unacceptable she begrudgingly brought more towels only smh.
Lastly, one of the elevators was out of order (out of two). This wasn’t a major issue for us because the occupancy was rather low for our stay. But, based on other reviews I’ve read this could be an issue to someone else if the hotel is...
Read moreI have NEVER had a more disappointing experience. Not sure how this hotel is affiliated with Marriott because the customer service is not on par with the Marriott brand. The hotel aspires to be luxury but rooms are very basic. Customer service is non existent and the location is not convenient.
I had an issue with the type of room I reserved. The front desk staff who checked me in suggested I use the master key to check another room to see if it was the correct Type of room I reserved???? Not sure how that's acceptable. I called the general manager and he basically did not own the lack of customer service and the safety issue with allowing a non-employee to have access to the master key. I visit Durham regularly and I will take my good money elsewhere to more reputable hotels 😊. I'll be sure to tell all my friends and anyone else who will listen. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALLL COSTS.
Updating my review because I have time. If you have access to the phone logs you can see that I called the third party twice prior to confirming the reservation to ensure that I was assigned to the correct room type. I'm not even upset that there was a miscommunication on the room type.
I'm highly disappointed with the lack of customer service or acknowledgement that the accommodations were not accessible. To be clear the room type requested was not a preference it was a need. I never bullied anyone or expected to not pay for anything. I asked "is there anything that can be done to remedy this issue?" Interestingly that was misconstrued as expecting not to pay??? Every other hotel in this class would at a minimum apologize and offer to rectify the situation. I got no apology and no steps were taken to remedy the problem hence my accurate review of my experience with this property. I was offered a master key and I declined to use it to save myself a third trip back to the front desk after a long night. It's too bad the management has time to respond to reviews instead of training staff on basic customer service and...
