When it comes to traveling, I always try to select something within the Hilton line of hotels for the HonorPoints, and my trip to El Paso was no different. When planning a trip to El Paso, you have to book this hotel pretty early on as a lot of the name brand hotels around the airport fill up fast (it's a fast-growing military town). So, I was happy that I was able to get this room.
Upon arrival, the hotel seems to be in a great location. I was initially worried about being located literally right next to I-10 with the noise, but the rooms themselves seemed to be pretty quiet. Another reviewer mentioned that you could hear everything out in the common area but that wasn't the case with me. Two loud noises in the room, on the other hand, were annoying. The fan in the bathroom made a horrible racket for about 20 seconds before finally quieting down and the HVAC system was tremendously loud.
Keeping the room cool was another issue we experienced while staying there. Granted, it was December so having the air conditioning unit on the roof shut off made economical sense to someone who wasn't staying there. Unfortunately, something about the design of the hotel made the rooms abnormally warm (75F +). I learned that the best thing to do was to leave the "A/C" off, prop the door open when I got back to the hotel, and when I went to bed to slide the window curtains all the way open (which, I think, saved me and kept the room around 72F). I dislike waking up in a pool of my own sweat.
The room itself looked like it could use a little work. I found several water stains on the ceiling, which concerned me about mold. Some of the wallpaper was falling off and had been hastily taped back up with Scotch tape. The television were the old tube kind and the cable seemed to be analog as I got so much snow and interference that I hardly ever turned it on.
The morning breakfast was pretty good, no complaints there. However, it was the first time I've ever stayed at an Embassy Suites where the cook asked me for my breakfast card. No big deal as I said the food was pretty good.
After reading a lot of the more recent reviews, I elected not to leave anything in my hotel room of value, other than my clothing (I even took my electric toothbrush with me every day). On this trip, we were able to wrap up early every day and was back to the hotel before 3 p.m. Every day that I was there, I never once received housekeeping services before 3 p.m., which I found odd. I would get back to the hotel just after 1 p.m., start in on my reports, then hear a knock at the door. Not wanting to be bothered, I only asked for fresh towels.
Finally, I was extremely surprised that I was going to be charged for using the Internet. Many hotel chains offer free Wi-Fi but Hilton continues to use the model that free Wi-Fi as a reward for their Hilton Honors members. My status got downgraded earlier this year from a Diamond member to Silver because of a traveling hiatus. Since that happened, I've stayed in a couple of Hiltons and Embassy Suites elsewhere which automatically gave me a code to access their Wi-Fi. This Embassy Suites, however, told me that since I was a Silver member that internet access would be $5.95 per night. Thankfully, I have a Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone that I used for my laptop.
Next time I travel to El Paso, I'm going to probably try a competing brand of hotel to see if the problems I experienced are an "EL Paso kind of thing" or whether it's just this specific hotel. However, if you are traveling to El Paso, the Embassy Suites is just "ok" when considering the room rate, free breakfast, and a variety of...

This hotel is completely outdated, all the money they have coming in, it shouldn't be any reason for them to not upgrade this hotel. Bathrooms toilet and tub areas is very rusted, they're stains on the carpet, fingerprints on the headboard mirrors are not clean, their windows are so disgusting, clearly they don't send anyone to come clean those windows outside nor inside, they must have had a water leak, because there are spots on top of the ceiling that looks like it was some type of water damage. I'm guessing that all housekeepers go on breaks at the same time, because when I asked for a deep cleaning around 7:00 p.m. I was told that the housekeeper was on break. On their website it states that breakfast is made to order, that means (when you place your order's, they are suppose to make it freshly) in front of you. But in this case they're false advertising. The only thing that is "made to order" are omelets ONLY. The rest of the breakfast is a very basic one star buffet that is not desirable at all. With their water down scrambled eggs, sausage halfway done, and they're frozen defrost extra tiny potatoes. Their breakfast is definitely not made to order. I wanted to relax and get into the jacuzzi, but I was informed by the desk clerk that their jacuzzi was about to get shut down "due to some type of high balance" she stated "that will cause people to itch really bad". The swimmer pool was full of kids screaming and splashing water. So I wasn't able to enjoy any of the amenities that were there. The young lady at the front desk stated "she will wave the $5 parking fee", but once I got home, I looked at my receipt and saw they still charged me for that parking fee smh.
As you can see from the pictures, something was biting me up so bad on my feet while I was sitting in the eating area. I hope they have cameras in that area, because if they do, they will see me constantly looking down brushing my legs and my feet trying to see what was on me biting me up. I thought I was tripping at first, until I got up from the table, in my feet was burning with itching and redness. So I checked out at the front desk, then walk to my car, and that's when I can actually see my feet and how bad it was bitten up... Whatever it was, I had a bad allergic reaction, I was itching all night in those same areas as soon as I got home, I jumped immediately in my shower and washed all my clothes that I had at that hotel. I wanted to make sure I wasn't bringing any unwanted guests 🕷️🦟🪲🐜🪰🦠🐾 into my home.
I will never ever go back to this location ever again. Y'all have to do better to keep your customers coming back. I am disgusted, and I've been itching like crazy since the bites. Y'all need to do a deep shampoo on your carpets & floors. Because whatever pest that are living on you guys floor/carpet, they are multiplying.
So, for the customers that will go to this location, please be aware 👀! Make sure you report any, and all bite marks with whatever else that needs to be reported for your safety. Also, have the housekeepers to come in and do a deep cleaning before you put your things down and or before you get into the bed. If they tell you they cleaned the room before you arrive, have them to do it again while you're there. There's nothing wrong with a second deep cleaning to make sure things get done correctly while you're there in the room. Also, have them to vacuum your entire room floors while...
Read moreI booked a room for 3 night 4 days, I was told over the phone threw the booking call centers this hotel would accommodate my size of family. I originally wanted to stay at Hampton suites but was told there wasn't a room available so they suggested their sister hotel . Not once did they mention this establishment was under construction. Our reason for travel was that my son need surgery so this place was close to the hospital. Apon arrival we where put on the 5th floor above the pool area .when we walked in it was so hot and humid, the ac was struggling. We asked for another room , they where nice enough to give us the room next door. Same issue but we tried to sleep bc it was late and had surgery the next day . I woke up around 2am trigged by a panic attack dure to the amount of humidity buildup in the room . That day I let the person who was texting me from the hotel my experience. The room was dirty the humidity was so bad the wall paper was peeling I took my youngest to the pool and it was dirty some kind of weird substance tracked around the pool it looked like diarrhea, globs of hair , fingernails, and a toothpicks.it was to late to find other accommodations and I was stressed out thinking of bringing my baby out of surgery into that establishment. We asked for room away from the pool as we had only been there one night . That room was better . Although it was stressful and I noticed that the sheets didn't fit the beds so when you laid in them the poped off so we slept on the mattress covers. waling threw the building bc we had to stay there while my son recovered constant noise and drilling sounds in our room , the doors to the rooms where black . Debri and dust lined the hall ways and corners in the rooms . Someone let there dog poop in the area where people eat breakfast ( the main area when you walk in )lobby . It was definitely an nightmare but my whole reason was to keep us in a clean environment so we didn't get infections in the surgical site . No do we want covid , flu or RSV . We have stayed at Embassy suites in Albuquerque and this hotel chain is usually a great stay . Corporate needs to address the structural issue , I would not be surprised if they had black mold we where told by staff people complain about the 3rd floor , we where on the 5th and I wanted to cry bc of how bad it was. (Humidity) so if you have breathing issues stay away until they can fix that issue. The only good thing was that the staff was so kind during our delema they helped as much as they could . I finally told them the maintenance man can't fix what there problem was it was bigger than his abilities. But the cleaners should do better , this place needs a deep clean bad . This was the most unpleasant trip I've had . Also if the people who book guess where more informed about the condition of this place and was able to communicate hey it's under construction so if your plan is to recover in a room after surgery this might not be a fit for your needs . Also breakfast was insane with the amount of people childen running no structure to get items people angry bc other people are knocking them over . And they stop refiling batter for the waffle machine at 830 also construction started at 830 so rating to drills , hamers and yelling . Yay...
