I was a student here for multiple programs and I never had an issue. Started at this school in 2015. Always felt very welcome from all the staff and they were always very helpful. Until I joined the Surgical Tech program. Finished with flying colors in the didactic portion, but once externship started one of the employees/coordinator for Southwest University seemed to have something against me. She was literally sabotaging my situation, things I really cannot even explain. To the point I had random nurses and other employees from the hospital come up to me and ask me why she was treating me like that. When I looked to the school to help me out they turned the other cheek. Never expected this because everyone at the school was always so helpful to me. This coordinator tried to turn my fellow classmates against me and I did not understand that. The most uncomfortable I have ever felt in my time in college. This coordinator would belittle me and tell me random things during externship to make me feel like I was not good enough for the program, totally unprofessional. The school did not help me out one bit. I did not get one phone call or an email from my directors of the program to try to get my situation leveled out. After all the money we pay for these programs and not one hand from the school was held out to help me. Therefore, I felt pushed away and didn’t feel confident anymore at that point and it took a toll on me. As far as I’m concerned this coordinator is not an employee for the school anymore and I wonder why? Probably because they did not want to get into any lawsuit trouble so they let that person go. I just want to shed some light on this so if you read this be cautious when joining this school. In regards to this comment, I also noticed this specific comment started to get pushed down by many irrelevant reviews which seems to have been done on purpose to hide this review as it has more thumbs up than any other review. This comment was originally posted during a weekend and the very start of that work week to a few days more than 15 comments were posted about enrollment and how easy it was. These reviews have no relevance to the actual experience in the classroom and personal interactions with instructors. Seems as if the school does not want people to read this specific review so they push students to leave as many reviews as possible. Almost every review has to do with how easy and great the enrollment process was. Well that’s awesome I can say the same, my enrollment process was great also and I felt welcome. That is not the point though that has nothing to do with the students whole experience at the school at the end of the day. Till this day they are still trying to silence this comment. For your own sake please look into this school...
Read moreA slight warning is that this review will be LONG. I only provide it one star because of my instructors, my program , and academic advisor they don’t deserve the one star. But the school itself definitely deserves the one star, they aren’t honest, and aren’t ethical or keep their word. When you want to enroll they do everything they can to have you enrolled, which was my case. They knew my financial situation since the beginning no lies told on my end , an amount was agreed on now a system update was implemented and all of the sudden they can’t honor the initial agreement . Not only that but also asking for an outrageous amount . They claimed that it was necessary to provide the proper equipment, while I know for a fact that is a lie! My program department had to work with what we had and the school wanted to still take away! So I don’t know where that money would be placed towards. Nonetheless the accounting department is very apathetic, I was told things like ‘ I have a business to run’ and ‘ you aren’t the only one in this situation’, I don’t know about you but I feel it is quite unprofessional. Keeping in mind they know my financial situation they still placed me in a position where it almost feels like extortion, if you don’t pay you are going to be withdrawn, they didn’t care I was a good student , I passed a board exam, or that I was in the middle of the program. They still force me to withdraw, which is very unfair and lack of character. So for everyone considering going to this school, and expected to have out of pocket pay, BEWARE keep everything on writing , and keep in mind that a system update can happen and your pay would increase. Also the higher ups are terrible are getting back to you, tried reaching out to a higher up via email since Saturday , still no response, I tried calling Tuesday , they said she would return my call, still waiting for that call and today is Thursday . So I would say some staff is not professional or just don’t care. Very sad experience, and can’t transfer my credits so...
Read moreI am a recent graduate from Southwest University. I graduated in March of 2021 with my AAS MA. I was very nervous to enroll in school in my 40's. Southwest University is an AMAZING school that cares about the success of their students. After working in the Healthcare Field, I decided to re-enroll in Southwest University to get a Bachelor's of Science in Healthcare Administration. I was apprehensive about enrolling again in school. I had an appointment with Ruby Ramirez who is an Admissions Advisor on campus. She not only answered all my questions, but she welcomed me back to Southwest University and made me feel great for pursuing my education. I cannot wait to begin this new milestone in my life and I am super excited that many of my classes from my AAS MA program actually transferred and will be accepted for my new degree plan. The next three years will definitely pay off and I cannot wait to obtain my Bachelor's of Science in Healthcare Administration. Thank you Ruby Ramirez for today and getting me excited again to go back to school. I guarantee, the entire staff at Southwest University will help answer any questions you might have about the admissions process and once you start your classes, all the teachers are going to be there for you! Definitely take the next steps and enroll in Southwest University! You will not be disappointed!
