Rest Inn - Elizabeth — Hotel in Elizabeth

Sigh.....I really wanted to like this place (using the term loosely). For the price, you know what to expect, and the pics even looked halfway decent, but the reviews are what require your attention. This is a last resort after your last resort fails. I almost wish I had equipment to see what I can't see. I've never seen a room this small in my life. Everything is bad... except the TV, which is working fine. But thus, the place looks like a poorly maintained room in a poorly maintained apartment building. The pictures say it all. I didn't see any roaches or any signs of bed bug infestation, but I don't want to take any chances. The woman at the front was nice. I had no other interaction with her during my short stay. I only needed a place to shower and freshen up while my building was being fumigated before work that night. Knowing check out was at 11am the following day I asked the woman in the front if I could leave early as I only needed the room until I had to leave for work and she said I could just drop off the key whenever and I'd get my deposit ($30) back. Honestly, this little place has tons of potential. With work, this place can be a gem. But whomever is running, it either doesn't have the money or...

Small, very small rooms. Not clean, wen staff is available to help you, they are nice. But they are rarely at the front desk. No phone in room, no ice machine. Outlet for microwave in kitchenette was broken so we had to put it on a chair we found outside. Cabinet door under sink fell off completely. Counters are bubbly, uneven, warped and so is the floor near bathroom in front of kitchen sink. So the bathroom door gets stuck and u have to push or pull to close and open door. The only window in room, does not open. The smoke alarm in room is completely gone, and wires hang from the ceiling where it should be. The filter in the ac/heat unit was so disgustingly dirty it looked like it hasnt been clean since the place opened. Lastly, the door to room does not close all the way, so a huge draft makes the room ridiculously cold!! They also charge 20$ more dollars then price quoted on phone. Would not recommend unless this was you very last resort, and needed a roof...

★☆☆☆☆ Never Again – Do Yourself a Favor and Stay Somewhere Else

I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at Rest Inn in Elizabeth, NJ was bad enough that I feel like I have to warn others.

The room was dirty the moment I walked in — floors not cleaned, sheets looked questionable, and there was an overall musty smell that made it hard to relax. There were no towels provided, and when I asked the front desk, they said they were “out.” Seriously?

The TV didn’t work, and no one seemed interested in fixing it. The place felt extremely ratchet and unsafe, with people hanging around outside all night, loud music, and constant noise in the hallways.

This place needs serious attention and better management. I checked out early and booked a different hotel because I couldn’t take it anymore.

Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else — your peace of mind and hygiene...
