We travel a lot; and are loyal Hilton customers - we've stayed in Hilton high-end and boutique properties, down to their very basic, no-frills economy locations.
That said, this Hampton Inn ranks right up at the top of our list of favorite Hilton properties. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. We selected the mountain-view rooms, and they did NOT disappoint - beautiful sunsets.
We could tell that the staff really takes care of the property - as we were leaving this morning, one of the staff members mentioned that he planned to shampoo the carpets today because there had been several kids in one of the conference rooms, and he wanted to make sure it was clean and ready for the next group to use - and he seemed glad to do it. The little touches in our room like the stamp on the new roll of toilet paper, and plenty of towels gave everything a touch of class.
As for their free breakfast buffet - this location knocked it out of the park! Sometimes we have walked away from stays at Hilton properties unimpressed with the breakfasts - but not at Hilton in Elkins. The eggs truly, truly tasted homemade - they were so yummy. The bagals and other pastries were individually wrapped - and that's something I really appreciate.
And then, to top things off - they had JIF peanut butter! Not some offbrand peanut butter wannabe - but real JIF in cute little individual packets. That sounds silly, but truly, it made my morning. :)
The staff were all so pleasant - housekeeping obviously does a great job cleaning, plus every time we passed them, we were greeted with what felt like sincere greetings - refreshing!
The person who made breakfast was superb - we came in for breakfast only 10 minutes before it was time to close it down, and she made us feel welcome, rather than as inconveniences. And, when it was time to shut things down, she came by our table and pleasantly asked if we'd like anything else before she started to clean things up - that's customer service right there.
Lastly, the check-in staff were all friendly, accommodating and helpful.
I keep a list of our favorite Hilton properties so we know where to book (and where NOT to book!) on our future adventues - and this Hilton, in our book and in my list, is top-notch with a 5-star rating - thanks, Hilton...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst experience of any Hilton Property I've ever stayed at. UGH!!! Requested two queen beds for two rooms. The hotel said they were sold out but would do their best. Upon checking in, they had no roll-away beds and the front desk staff were arrogant and had attitudes just because I asked what other options I had. The front desk staff told me they had a wedding and baseball team at their hotel and hence the reason they were sold out. I was kept awake despite my repeated complaints to the front desk. The baseball team was so obnoxious - they were having a party above my two rooms all night. The front desk staff, Jason, was mean spirited and acting like I was the problem - I was only trying to sleep. Then I was put in touch with Emily. I told her I would be checking out and not staying another night as I drove 7 hours and was exhausted. Emily told me the team was checking out the next day. The next day I left for a family reunion. When I returned at 5:00 PM, again I heard loud banging and screaming upstairs. I went to get coffee thinking the walls are paper thin in this hotel and there was the baseball team again. They did not check out as I was told. At this point I couldn't find another hotel - I was stuck again! Only when I called guest services at 12:30 AM did the noise finally stop! The absent manager from this hotel Lisa has never contacted me. I did receive both rooms, both nights free; however, that was no the point. I am a Hilton Honors business traveler and when I need to rest, I feel my rights for a peaceful environment were impeded and the attitudes by the front desk staff didn't make matters better. I will never stay at this location again. Also, I am rethinking my honors membership and am going to start staying at Marriott's again where the customer is...
Read moreWe were not able to make reservations directly with Hotel kept getting switched to Third party reservation. Even after retrying to reach Hotel desk person on phone said that it was the Hotel desk but on receipt it was Third party still, I DIDNT GET ANY AARP DISCOUNT because of this. My ESA pet was chased out of Dining room when we were only there to pick up breakfast to sit outside. Both Manager and staff that day were very rude to my wife and myself and pup. They didn't seem to be aware of ESA policies. But we were then charged the extra $75 dollars ESA in room. The other hotels in are we stayed deducted $45 from original cost because ESA pet. Beware this we were not spoken to or reminded upon arrival to that there is no Housekeeping unless special requested. Seems we were charged extra $75 upon l departure to clean room. That was cleaned by my wife done impecabley by herself. We felt that there is some very sketchy things going on with this Hotel I would take into consideration next time we visit Elkins I would avoid this place. Check other reviews about ceiling so thin you can hear footsteps above in middle of night. It apeared because of view they can dictate what they want discriminating against customers. We were charged over double the off season price for a room explanation was saying hotel had other guests that week so thats why you are charged double the usual rate. (A peak pricing week only?) we weren't on the tour and the rooms were not all sold out as told. I would write to Hamptons INN/Hilton Corporate with your concerns. I hope this docent reflect on their other Locations. We will avoid staying her next visit to Elkins. As we found you shouldn't have to be caught in the trap where they try to make up the overhead with...
