This was our first time staying at Murphy’s Resort in Estes Park, Colorado and it will NOT be our last. My boyfriend and I needed a mini getaway. So after much research we decided to try this place out from the online google reviews paired with the awesome pricing. (I forgot to mention we booked this room the night before we stayed). We got the King Suite. This room was comparable to a small apartment or studio in regards to it being pretty spacious! The front door welcomes you into the living room which is joined with a kitchenette which came supplied with a microwave, stovetop (2 burners), a mini fridge, coffee maker, dishes/utensils and pots and pans. Next, the kitchenette leads out to a private patio which had its own propane bbq grill and a little patch of grass which is awesome for the fur babies! I didn’t bring my pet with me but they do allow a pet (restrictions apply) at a small additional fee. It had hdtvs, DVD players (one in the bedroom and another in the living room), a jetted jacuzzi tub in the bedroom which is a separate room from the living room/kitchen area and a fireplace which is positioned awesomely where it is in the bedroom, living room and near the huge tub. Then there is a room with a stand up shower and toilet. Everything in this room was very clean and organized well. They thought of everything for you. If you want to cook there the only thing you need to bring is the food. The kitchen is stocked with standard cookware as I mentioned earlier. The resort provides a free breakfast but due to the COVID they provided pre-selected items such as fruit, granola bars and muffins (all wrapped). I thought this was pretty awesome they still provided a breakfast instead of completely stopping the free breakfast like most of other hotels are doing right now during the pandemic. Furthermore, the layout of the property was beautiful just like the rest of the town! You see a beautiful mountain range view surrounding the property. The property also has a outdoor pool and picnic in the middle of the property for all guests to use (the pool was closed due to the COVID as well). Last but not least, the staff was awesome!! They were welcoming, polite and provided me with everything we needed. We can’t wait to go back! We left Murphy’s Resort feeling so...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at Murphy's Resort for our 6 year anniversary. Now we had been there before and really enjoyed our stay. So much so we decided to go back. Again, we were not disappointed.
Staff is always very friendly and welcoming, in person and over the phone. They were even so nice to leave a happy anniversary gift for my wife and I that we were not expecting. To us, it's the little things that matter and I can't tell you how much we really appreciated that. To go out of their way for us, really made us feel special:)
Our room was very nice. It was the 2 room king suite. It had plenty of amenities and quite adequate. Just to give some examples, our room came with, regular sized refrigerator, microwave, stove, full kitchen sink, cabinet loaded with utensils, pots, pans, cooking oil, I think i saw a cutting board, dish soap. A dinner table with 4 stools, paper towels. Our own personal back door porch with personal bbq grill. Our bedroom was great, plus a hot tub, separate shower, vanity, very spacious. I mean they really thought of everything, they really put a lot of thought into making their guests feel right at home with everything they need for a great stay at a great price.
The swimming pool area was very nice, so was the jacuzzi. They even had some really good music playing over a public speaker, that was cool. They had bbq grills and plenty of lounge chairs to accommodate large crowds or even just a couple such as us.
The breakfast to go was also great, a good variety of breakfast choices such as fruit, granola bars, Danish treats, muffins, hard boiled eggs, etcetera and delicious coffee. We honestly can't wait to go back.
Our only, one single gripe was that we did find a long hair under the comforter as we were getting ready for bed. But that's it! Other than that it was very clean throughout.
Look, if you're reading this and you're looking into staying somewhere, take my word, you will not be disappointed. The owners and staff really take a lot of pride in this fine establishment and you can definitely tell they have put a lot of work into making this place really great. Very memorable and enjoyable for you and your family any time of year. In fact there is so much more that they offer that I haven't even mentioned but go see...
Read moreMy wife and I spent a very pleasant weekend in Estes Park to celebrate our anniversary. The lodgings were pretty well filled up by the time we started looking for a place to stay. We found a vacancy at Murphy’s Resort. We had never been there but we booked a room for one night. We very much enjoyed our stay and found this to be an older but very well kept family and pet friendly motel.
The positives: A great, friendly staff. The rooms still have a DVD player and the motel has hundreds of movies. The motel has very additive and buttery popcorn in the lobby. Due to covid they offer a “bag breakfast” with a good selection of cereals, fruit, breakfast rolls and juices. A wonderful pool which is actually heated and a great hot tub. Numerous picnic tables, places to sit outside, several propane grills. A big grass area where kids and pets can run and play. We are showing our age but we loved that we could park directly in front of our room. The rooms are very clean with a microwave, fridge, 32” flat screen tv and good mattresses. The windows slide open so at night they can be opened to let the cool night air in.
The negatives: The toilet was slow to flush and sometimes we had to flush twice to make it work properly. The ac could not keep up with the size of the room so even though we had it at 68 degrees the room was still warm. The motel is on the east side of lake Estes and once had a great view of the lake. But a developer is putting in single family residences right across the west side of the motel which is blocking the view of the lake, but not of the wonderful mountains.
We loved this place so much we are going to make this our place to stay whenever we...
