Gonna be a long one folks. First off, the only reason I rated it this low is because of the insane price considering the following issues. Beds are not great, there is no air conditioning, in 2020, in colorado. The walls are paper thin so any lovers who planned any passionate romance better keep it at volume levels safe enough for the 6 year old mext door (who screams in the morning). The sounds of doors opening and closing travels throughout the whole entire building, so other people's schedules will affect your stay. The owner was a bit greedy with the fire wood, he gave us 45 minutes worth of firewood at like 7:30pm in the summer, so by the time it got dark there was none left and he left no details on where we could get some. The person next door told me they had no deadlock on their door, so thats not the safest, even if they did the doors are cardboard it feels like. The stairs tremble and shake as you walk on them. "Paying for the view" can only go so far in colorado where any view you could imagine is only a half tank of gas away. It felt like I was being taken advantage of and that doesn't feel good. Compared to 4 star hotels at less than $150 a night in colorado springs or other places, this gave me buyer's remorse. I couldn't imagine staying here again because for this price you could find much more luxurious places. No disrespect, I've just worked at a 4 star hotel with rates lower than this in evergreen, so the view thing is a poor excuse.
Edit* I stayed in the economy rooms so this doesn't apply to any other building. No continental breakfasts, no any kind of food, but they do have a nice grill so you can buy groceries and store them in the tiny fridge until you cook. Hot tub is only 30 minute use, and is tucked into the corner of the office building so the view is awful, and the hot tub is only open until 9pm. No pool. Housekeeping doesn't clean, they only take towels and trash bags, anything more is an extra charge. If this room was cheaper I'd have no complaints but I dont see how they charge this much for an "economy" option. Carpet was coming up in our room and was covered with a nailed down rug. Minimum of 3 days so for a total of almost $500 after tax, I was not the least bit impressed. The owner relies solely on the view to justify that kind of price and that's not good business. I dont mean to be rude or hateful, the owner was kind but i dont necessarily expect to be charged this much for kindness and a mountain view. To be clear, I'd have no complaints if the room was priced lower, and in my honest opinion, and I've worked at the the comfort suites in evergreen so I have some idea of pricing, I'd charge at most $100 a night for the...
Read moreGreat cabins right on the river and close to the park AND they take pets! My husband and I stay in EP frequently and have stayed at many of the cabins on the river and this is one of the better ones. The cabins are VERY spacious with beautiful linens and comfy mattresses. They have decks with a grill outside and a full kitchen. My only complaint is that they state that they have hot tubs, when in actuality, it's a jetted bathtub in your room. There is a difference. They should advertise that they are jetted bathtubs and not "hot tubs or Jacuzzis." The Manager is awesome and super accommodating. We checked into our cabin, then late that night, the people in the cabin next to us came in and turned on their porch light (which shone right into our bedroom window along with a free-standing courtyard light. The next day, we asked our neighbors nicely if they would turn off their porch light at night as it was like Fort Knox in our room. They refused (weird) saying they liked having a night light and for the record, they never turned off the light the entire time we were there which was the first week in March. I'm not sure what they were afraid of, but whatever. So, I told the Manager about the situation and told her I was willing to go get some tin foil and duck tape and put it on the windows if necessary. She offered to move us to another cabin which was great. Some cabins have the courtyard lights next to the bedroom windows, so if light bothers you, you might want to avoid those cabins, or if you have crazy people in the cabin next to you who refuse to turn off their porch light at night (probably city dwellers). My suggestion to the owner is to put light-blocking blinds on the bedroom windows as they are not expensive. You can buy them at Walmart. They allow pets in...
Read moreJust a warning to small young families. My family, wife, myself, and 2 young kids, were supposed to stay here. I called to see if I could add an extra day onto my reservation, and I mentioned my 2 kids. This place then decided to call us back and ask how many people were in our party, to which we said 2 adults and 2 young kids. Our reservation was for a king room, which does say it only sleeps 2. So yes, we were wrong.. so they tell us that they can't let us stay there because of fire code. So they cancelled our reservation that we made a month and a half in advance.. the day before we were supposed to check in.. the week of July 4th. They did refund our deposit for us, minus the $50 for credit card transaction fees. I could understand if we were two families bringing in air mattresses or something and really piling in there. It was just my family.. we were all going to sleep in the same bed. They could have just pretended like I never said anything. But they decided to cancel on us. Maybe they're incredibly passionate about fire code? Maybe the fire Marshal drops in randomly and inspects all the guest rooms to see how many people are staying in each room? Maybe they thought they could rent our room out on short notice to someone else for more money? Maybe they are sticklers for the rules? I don't know for sure. But I am incredibly disappointed with my experience with the people here. I'm sure the property is lovely and a great place to stay. I won't ever know as I will never give another cent...
