Well it's been almost a week since I stay there. And no one from the place is ask me how my stay was. This is a 4 * Hotel and I had a suite. It's supposed to be a sister Hotel to the Simsbury inn. This is no comparison to the Simsbury Inn. I have stayed at both. And in its day it probably was a nice hotel. It was not dirty by any means, just old and worn out. The sheetrock was coming down from the ceiling. The glass top on the table in the room had a big chunk out of it and I sharp edge. The caulking around the tub was all ugly. The windows go right to the floor which is nice but when you open the window there's no screen. Plus if you had a child they could crawl right out the window. But the most important part of the room, the bed seems like it has been in service for a long time. It had a big divot in the middle so much so that you could see it just standing in the room. I was here for wedding and I asked some other guests and they said the same thing about their beds. I could go on but I think you get the point. PS if you do choose to stay here check your reservation cuz mine was all messed up. And the price they quoted you is not the price you pay in the end they add all the taxes and service stuff and on top of it so what looks like a good deal is not such a good deal in the end kind of a bait-and-switch if you will.

I was booked here for two nights for work. I promptly checked out. It was filthy and disgusting. Not only were there 2 live bugs in my bathtub, there was an additional dead bug squished and dried up in the bathroom door jam. It is clear cleanliness is not a priority here. To make it worse, a coworker found a live bug in their bed. Another coworkers room smelled of cigarette smoke. A third coworkers room felt wet and damp. This place is disgusting. Don’t let the random positive reviews fool you- this place is gross. Stay far, far away. If you want to stay in a filthy hotel from the 1970s, this is the place for you.

I had a great stay here. The staff work hard and very friendly to make you have a good stay. The lobby serves tea, coffee, cookies, and fruit. The rooms are old but spacious with a very comfortable bed and large bathrooms. In the morning they serve a complimentary breakfast which includes cereal, bagels, muffins, fruit, boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, and waffles. I used the gym which has modern equipment but small with some weights. I hope to visit again.

If you like to be scammed and bombarded with chemical smells all night, this is the place for you!

I have stayed at some very questionable and disappointing hotels and inns before, but nothing can compare to this experience, and I do mean that negatively. While everything was sanitary and pleasant, there were too many issues. Upon entering the hotel, we were notified that there would be an extra fee per person per night of $10, this fee was not disclosed anywhere and frankly came off as a scam. What really sealed the deal that the location is doing some sort of scamming was when our credit card was charged $100 with no explanation the morning we woke up in the hotel. Before leaving we went up to discuss the matter with the front desk and heard only excuses. The credit card readers have "issues" apparently, one "charges a fee without explanation of $11," and that's the one they usually use apparently (this means they are fully aware of this undisclosed charge but allow it to happen anyways) but the one that the person who had checked us in the night before used a broken card reader and it charges $100..? Now this is not acceptable. It was clear from the explanation that this is a recurring thing, and if giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming that what we were being told was truthful, that is some terrible customer service to continue using facilities that steal money from customers. Looking at it from a different perspective however really sheds a light on the suspicious things going on at this inn. The location is not afraid to spend money to make it a pleasant stay: they use coffee beans to absorb the coffee coming out of the complimentary coffee machine, they have accessible pool tables, complimentary breakfast, there is money the hotel clearly puts into their services (they can afford this because they charge the $10 fee probably,) so shouldn't they be able to spend a few hundred dollars to purchase a sufficient card reader? The fact of the matter is that they can, but they don't. That is why I'm leaving this review, do not stay here if you want to save money and don't desire to be scammed.

On a completely separate note, the electric vehicle charger was extremely slow and the person at the front desk when we checked in (who according to the person who checked us out was fully to blame for the mishap with the card reader fee of $100..) fully failed to assist us and for that reason we weren't able to charge our vehicle until the next morning, leaving us only about an hour to charge because we only received help in the morning.

I also strongly discourage anyone with allergies from staying here as the structure is old and I found myself repeatedly sneezing. They decided to spray extremely strong cleaning products in our room and it honestly made breathing difficult all night. I myself have a very strong sense of smell and found it rather disturbing to be bombarded with the strong, and not necessary pleasant smells of old furniture and bleach/other...

This is a place that deserves to be reviewed! From the first phone call to reserve to the last step out the door, the management deserve EVERY bit of praise we can think of!!!

When I called to reserve my phone contact was most pleasant. I had special requests (smoke and pet free, no feather pillows, etc.) We were travelling to Hartford for surgery for my companion. Every requested was honored without a glitch.

As soon as we drove up the motel was BEAUTIFUL! The lobby and gathering area were so inviting - and beautifully lit. As we left to move our car we saw foods on a side table. The management provides a free bite, I assume as an evening snack, of salami and cheese slices, dried fruit, assorted olives, crackers, AND a glass of wine! It was beautiful. What a thoughtful act.

As we proceeded to our room I noticed how well-lit the hallways were - and how clean they were. The room was lovely. We had two beds ( which did not leave a lot of room to move around in the room ) and they were CANOPY beds! Every amenity was in the room as in any good motel. There was also a truffle on each bed, and a delicious one at that.

As we went back to our car to unpack it was raining. Right next to each exit door (I know because I checked) there were multiple great large umbrellas for our use. It also looked like people were honest and returned them when done.

Of course Farmington Suites had a very nice hot breakfast as well. I am sure there are other lovely details that I missed because I wasn't looking for them. We had a good rest and an enjoyable visit. All of this cost only $99!

Granted this was probably a special run during the slower travel season. It would be so easy to plan for a day or two for a lovely getaway when special rates are offered. I have not been in a nicer setting ever. And, we have travelled a bit, especially for national meetings, which often sends us to some of the nicer hotels in the country. By the way, Farmington Suites even offers Zeel massages in every room to every guest. Now that says pampering if anything does!

Also, we have a grandchild who had medical tests in the Hartford area that required her to stay overnight. FIS does partner with some of the local hospitals with discounts; so be sure to ask about those discounts if you are in that situation. That same grandchild asked her mom if they could all go back as a family for a vacation night at FIS because she loved it so much. It helped to make her stay, with her scalp covered in gauze to hold electrodes in place for the test, a beautiful, fun memory! Now that is a real compliment to FIS.

So when you travel to Hartford, Connecticut please consider Farmington Inn and Suites for your next stay. I don't think you will be disappointed. (This is not an ad, nor have I received anything in return for...

The Farmington Inn & Suites - Review: My adult daughter and I stayed at this facility for five nights from July 24 to July 29, 2024. We reserved two so-called “deluxe rooms” (the “only rooms available”) at a rate of $159.99 per night each room, with the tacked on additional “tax recovery & fees” of $61.95 per night per room. Total cost of the 2 rooms $2,219.40, which I pre-paid. The hotel has plenty of parking space and it is centrally located on the main artery of Farmington. The lobby is welcoming enough— and that’s about it for the positives. The hotel is old and the rooms run down. It consists of two floors with no elevator or ADA compliance. My room, with a view of the parking lot, had a penetrating musty smell that was transferred to my clothes. The cold water tap in the sink ran hot and never really cooled off. The canopy fabric above the 4-post bed had a tear in it. One of the lamps had a burned out bulb. And for the surprise PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE, on Sunday morning I woke up to a black thing flying out of my bed sheets. It turned out to be a WOMAN’S USED LACY BLACK THONG, which I unfortunately picked up with my two fingers but then placed in a hand towel. After washing my hands, I presented it to the front desk.

But wait there is more…. Upon my return home, I discovered that additional junk fees, never disclosed at booking time, of $17.25 per night per room were charged to my account with the vague description of “facilities fees”. We never availed ourselves of the “free breakfast” nor do we know what other facilities are there. The pool advertised is not owned by the hotel but is in fact in another town. The hotel’s Reservation Support sent me an email asking for my review of the hotel. I responded with a detailed email explaining all my issues and demanding an explanation of these so-called “facilities fees” and “tax recovery & fees”, which constitute over 49.5% of the total cost of the rooms. I requested a response no later than today, August 3rd, after which I would write their requested review. To date—5 days after checking out and on the deadline given—I have no explanation. I will report this to a Consumer Advocate agency in Connecticut and will post this review on other sites.

But for those future patrons of this hotel, take heed. If you choose anyway to stay at this facility, bring a bottle of Fabreze, check your bed sheets carefully and have them explain their pricing practices, which I find unethical and possibly illegal.

P.S. As a follow up, and to be fair, 3 days after my review and a week after my request for an explanation of the fees, I received a refund of all the fees charged but still no explanation as to why they were charged in the first place or what they represented. No matter. I thank the reservation support for the refund but the caveat to future...
