You would be better off sleeping on the beach, or even in the middle of coastal highway.
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, by far. We arrived on Fenwick Island around noon, and tried to check in. We were told that it was a $50 fee to check in. There was 3 cars in the parking lot, and the place was obliviously not booked the night before. We then asked if they had a restroom so we could change and go to the beach, and they did not allow us to even use a restroom. We asked to speak to a manager regarding this early check in fee, and she re-iterated the same policy. We then tried to cancel our reservation, and the staff refused to cancel our reservation without charging us the entire first night's stay (over $100.) Both the manager and the front desk clerk were extremely rude throughout this entire conversation.
We decided to change in the car, and not let this ruin our weekend at the beach. We went back to check into our room, this time at 3:00pm. Our first experience with this room was the challenge of getting the door to even unlock. The lock on the door did not work properly, and barely opened. Our second experience with this room is when we tried to turn on the lights, and both the lights in the hallway AND the lights by the bed did not work. Our third experience is when we sat on the bed, and it was about as comfortable as a piece of plywood.
We let the hotel staff know about the condition of that room, and switched rooms. The new room was a little better, but not by much. The light in the hallway still didn't work, but at least the one by the beds did. The door actually locked here too. The room was still old and worn down, and was definitely not the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Luckily I wasn't planning on staying in the room for very long.
Next time I stay in the Fenwick Island area, I will pony up the extra cash to stay somewhere that isn't going to ruin my entire trip. This place may be cheap, but the price isn't worth all of the problems at this...
Read moreAfter a 3 hour and a half hour drive, I finally make it to the seaside inn. I get out of my car and stretch, then as me and my girlfriend are walking in my buddy, (who was not staying in my one king bed bedroom with and my girlfriend of course..) asked if he could change his clothing in my room once I got it. I didn't see The problem what so ever, so I told him "yeah sure". The man at the front desk, "Irvine" got very personal with my buddy after I told him that he was going to change. I went on with it trying to make it like a joke by saying my buddy had 10 minutes to change then I was kicking em out. I then laughed and so did "Irvine". This man said a couple more things to my friend like he did something wrong and was told he was not allowed on the property. Let me remind you this was right after a 3 n a half hour drive, and we literally just walked in. So after 20 minutes of 3 people getting ready using a bathroom you can barely turn around in. A knock came to the door, that "Irvine" guy was at the door. My girlfriend tells him we were about to leave, and we actually were. She just had to iron his shorts to help em out then we were going. So he's at the door and he asked for me. I stared into his eyes for 5 full long minutes with out blinking and told him exactly what was going on. I told the man, we just had to iron pants, and then we were leaving. I said my buddy would have his bags with him as he left our room. He then snapped into something and said to get all of our things and he was giving us our money back. He did as said and gave me the refund, but I just got there after driving, and my buddybwanted to change before he went to his grandmother's. I explained it all to this "Irvine" guy, and said he was staying at his grandparents about ten minutes away. I don't know if this man was having a bad day or what, but he doesn't know how to talk to someone at...
Read moreOther reviews are telling the truth when they say this hotel is VERY CLEAN! You can tell the housekeepers take great pride in making sure every room is spotless. It's not outdated at all and looks even better in person than the pictures online show. Check-in and checkout were super simple and fast! The ac was super quiet and kept the room very cool even on a sweltering day with high humidity. The pool was small but relaxing when we couldn't be at the beach due to a storm. The hotel is in walking distance to several excellent restaurants and breakfast places, which is convenient as breakfast is not offered here.
The neighborhood and hotel itself is very quiet and family-oriented. Everyone was asleep at decent hours and I wasn't woken up at all by any noises, not even the street sounds as it's a quiet area. The hotel is also situated on the beach side of the highway, so it's a a very quick and safe walk down a small residential type street to the beach access. Of all the beach spots between Dewey and Ocean City, this is by far the least crowded, most clean, and quiet. It had the feel of being very private. There is also a lifeguard on duty at this beach access.
Some cons were the uncomfortable beds (the mattress sounded like a blowup mattress for some reason and was very hard), the very slow wifi (the tv only has wifi channels), and the scratchy toilet paper. Another note: I noticed this hotel is wheelchair inaccessible. There are ramps up to the first floor on the backside of the hotel, but there is NO wheelchair access to the main office.
In all, I would absolutely stay here again if visiting...
