I’ve had the privilege of dining at over 20 Michelin-starred restaurants in my 20 years as a food critic, and I can confidently say Our Harvest held its own among some of the best. Our family visited on two separate evenings, and both times we left feeling impressed by the creative dishes, attentive service, and the team’s genuine effort to accommodate dietary restrictions.
First Impressions and Starters Right from the start, Our Harvest set the tone with their Daily Bread: warm sourdough and herb focaccia paired with a luscious apple fig butter and roasted garlic. It was such a satisfying way to kick off our meals, underscoring the care that goes into every component of their menu. The only dish that fell short was the Classic French Onion Soup—it just didn’t have the depth or richness we were hoping for.
On the bright side, the small plates more than made up for it. The Roasted Chincoteague Oysters were phenomenal—dripping with bone marrow butter, topped with gremolata, and boasting a wonderful brininess. I also loved the Flash Fried Calamari “NE” Style, thanks to its crisp rice-flour crust and a creamy garlic chili butter sauce that paired beautifully with the fried lemons and banana peppers. Even the Frites managed to stand out, with a dusting of malt powder and a garlicky buttermilk aioli that was dangerously addictive.
Standout Dishes A real showstopper was the Thai Braised Shortrib & House Smoked Pork Belly. It combined smoky, tender meat with a sweet and spicy sesame garlic glaze, plus a Thai peanut sauce that perfectly complemented the spiced peanuts and crisp Honeycrisp apple slices.
Moving on to the entrées, the Crispy Brussel Leaves were a delight—lightly dressed in a sticky, tangy sauce with a welcome pop of lime. Papa’s Philadelphia hit all the right notes for me too, featuring crispy beef tallow potatoes and an indulgent aged cheddar “cheese whiz.” Both flatbreads we tried were fantastic: the Prosciutto di Parma and Local Arugula Flatbread felt elegant and balanced, while the Devil’s Pie Flatbread was a spicy, savory treat layered with smoked andouille sausage, rotisserie chicken, Castelvetrano olives, and a drizzle of Calabrian chili honey.
The Meat Paella was hearty and flavorful, showcasing perfectly cooked pork, aged chorizo, and pulled rotisserie chicken. We paired it with the Grilled Local Broccoli, which was surprisingly memorable—simple but elevated by tonnato mayo and pecorino. As a light, snackable option, the Marinated Olives and Almonds brought a bright Mediterranean flair to our table.
Dessert and Drinks To finish, the Homemade Local Apple Pie was comfort-food perfection. Fifer Farms apples, a toffee crumble, apple cinnamon ice cream, and butterscotch caramel—all came together in one nostalgic, delicious dessert. On the beverage side, The Chesterfield cocktail (basil vodka and cucumber juice) was wonderfully refreshing, while the Chocolate Martini really hit the spot for a sweet indulgence. A Stella draft rounded out the heartier dishes quite nicely.
Service and Accommodations Perhaps the most impressive element of our visits was the warm, attentive service. The staff went out of their way to address my sister’s gluten and dairy restrictions, making sure she could enjoy thoughtful adaptations of various dishes without losing any flavor.
Final Thoughts All in all, Our Harvest offered an inventive menu backed by friendly, top-notch service. It’s clear that the chefs and staff pour their hearts into delivering a memorable experience for every guest. If you’re looking for a restaurant that’s both creative and comforting, you’ll find plenty to love here. I know I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreWe had the opportunity to dine at Our Harvest during a recent visit to Fenwick (our daughter's Spring Break). We were ready for a special culinary experience, given all the wonderful reviews and an enthusiastic recommendation from our friend who lives locally. There is much to enjoy about OH. As you enter the restaurant, the ambiance and decor are beautiful... the rustic yet elegant setting, warm and welcoming. Our server was friendly and attentive, explaining the menu and answering any questions we had, since it was our first visit. We opted to choose various small plates as the feast option seemed to be a bit too much for our family of 3. Plus, my husband and I wanted to try various styles of protein and artisanal preparations. From our craft cocktails to our fingerling potatoes, it was obvious that everything was prepared with the freshest and highest quality of ingredients. But sadly, we found the combination of flavors to be a bit dull and mismatched. The Mezcal and Pelon cocktails were refreshing but not too terribly interesting. The Almost Traditional flatbread was very underdone, no crispness to the crust. We ordered that immediately because our daughter was overly hungry, so perhaps our server put a rush on it, which resulted in it not being cooked to its desired potential. The "Daily Bread" board was lovely, plentiful - the house-made butters and dipping oil were delicious but we found the focaccia bread to be way too heavy and dense. I guess we more prefer the rustic, crusty, airy baguette type of bread. My husband had the grilled calamari and roasted oysters and felt as though both missed their mark. The calamari seemed bland. And with respect to the oysters, he felt the combination of chimichirri and cheddar did not blend well together at all. He found the taste of the oyster to be completely lost and was disappointed he didn't choose the simple style of raw oysters on the half. Last to mention, I ordered the flank steak and was told that the chef prefers the temperature to be medium rare. I asked for it medium and it came out medium rare. I thought that was kind of funny. It was tender and flavorful but I didn't quite get the avocado accompaniment. The fingerling potatoes were probably my favorite, cooked perfectly. I loved the outside texture especially. Again, I felt like the choice of ingredients (the chimichurri sauce) wasn't necessary. Sometimes simpler is best. I should also mention that my husband wasn't totally in favor of me writing a review because we were given much opportunity to voice our disappointment during the meal. Our server checked in with us often, a manager came by several times to see how we were enjoying everything. But when you are 80% satisfied, is it worth being negative to staff, when it's obvious Our Harvest is doing an exceptional job in making sure your dining experience is special. There is a lot to admire about that. I just felt like we tried many varying selections from the menu, hoping that one would finally "wow" us and that didn't quite happen. Thank you for listening to our feedback. This is only one couple's opinion (and tastebuds). We're extremely discerning when it comes to eating out because we cook most of the time at home. We understand our opinions, in this case, are...
Read moreOverall this was a very good restaurant and I really enjoyed the meal. From the second we walked in I got a vibe about the place which was very warm and welcoming. The place felt like a cozy cabin in the woods where you can snuggle up at the fireplace. When I walked in what really stood out to me was the open kitchen. I was seated right next to the kitchen so I was able to observe the chefs cook and one of the chefs even smiled at me which felt very welcoming. The first thing to come out was the daily bread. It was a sourdough and a Texas toast with blueberry butter, regular butter, and olive oil. The bread was very good and the butter was also sweeter which made the this a really good appetizer to the start of this meal. Next thing that came was flatbread or pretty much a crispy pizza. I didn’t try the spicy one because I’m stomach isn’t feeling too good. However, I tried the prosciutto pizza and it was delicious. I didn’t expect the flatbread to be too good but the crust and bottom of the flatbread had a very good browning. The cheese also had a very good pull and it was very good. The prosciutto and the basil complemented each other very well and it was a good start to the meal up to this point. Next the meat came out which was very delectable to be short. The wagyu steak was very good no matter what the dads would say. It was juicy and the crust gave the steak a great crunch which really wrapped the entire steak together. It also had a lot of toppings on top like cheese, vegetables, and some other stuff that I can’t recall. The vegetables were very fresh and gave the steak a freshness about it that made the steak even better than it already was. There was a paella which was also very great. The rice was very good especially combined with the sauce which made it wet but not damp. It was coated enough where you got the flavor of it but not make the rice soft. Also the meat and vegetables with the rice really made the rice paella really exquisite and scrumdiliocious. Lastly, the MVP of the meal was the tomahawk. Just amazing, the flavor would just burst out of the meat and just cost the inside of your mouth. It was soft, juicy, tender, and the flavor is just unmatched. This great piece of meat was amazing it could move me to tears. Actually, I lied it won’t move me to tears but you get it, it was really good. Now to talk about the things I didn’t really like about this place. Firstly, the pizza was a little bit wet, because of this the ends of the pizza would flop down which made it a little difficult to indulge in. Secondly, the tomahawk was medium rare which personally isn’t my cup of tea but still it was very good so I’m not going to knock it too much. Lastly, I don’t like how you have to pay extra with card. There’s probably a reason for it but I don’t care. In conclusion, this meal was very good. With the vibe of this place, the good customer service, and of coarse the very good food This place was a great way to wrap up this vacation. Overall I would rate this...
