The Sea Glass Museum in Fort Bragg was a wonderful experience. It was far more educational and in depth than I expected, and I walked away learning so much about the history and science behind sea glass. The displays are very well organized and thoughtfully put together, making it easy to follow along and really understand the story being told. This is much more than just a quick five-minute stop for tourists—it is a place where you can spend real time exploring and appreciating the details.

What made the visit especially memorable was the knowledge and enthusiasm of the owner. He clearly has a deep passion for the subject and is eager to share it with visitors. The way he explained the history, the process, and the significance of sea glass added so much richness to the experience. It is rare to find someone so willing to share their expertise in such an approachable and engaging way.

If you are visiting Fort Bragg, the Sea Glass Museum is absolutely worth your time. It offers a unique and educational perspective on something many of us might overlook, and it leaves you with a new appreciation for the beauty and history hidden in every piece...

If you're in Fort Bragg and have even a passing interest in sea glass or coastal history, the Sea Glass Museum is a must-visit. Located at 303 N Main St Ste F, this modest yet captivating museum houses an extensive collection of sea glass pieces in various colors and forms, including rare finds like uranium glass that glows under black light.

Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $2 for adults, making it an accessible stop for all visitors. The museum is curated by Captain J.H. "Cass" Forrington, a passionate sea glass collector, and offers educational displays organized by color and type, providing insights into the history and origins of sea glass from the nearby Glass Beach.

The adjacent gift shop features a variety of sea glass jewelry and related items, perfect for souvenirs or gifts. Whether you're a dedicated collector or just curious, the Sea Glass Museum offers a unique and informative experience that highlights the beauty and history...

Would be an awesome little shop if it wasn't for the guy sitting behind the desk.. we were looking for a nice piece of glass jewelry as a souvenir, which they had, when we heard loud screaming in the shop. I rushed around the corner to see what was happening, and the beared man was yelling at 2 kids, and what I am assuming was their grandma, for the kids touching some lights, or buttons on the wall? Nothing had been broken, nothing was close that could be broken, and the kids were in tears. One of the kids, that must have been around 5 was huddled on the floor with his ears covered. Definitely not a scene you want to see anywhere, especially while on vacation. Will not be visiting this shop in the future. Lost our business for life. I know everyone has a bad day, but don't take it out on kids, and...

The museum is located inside a mall of sorts that has a salon and restaurants and other stores. It's a very colorful museum with all the different types of glass found. The rare purple from old apothecary bottles. The vaseline glass that glows under black light. Learning about what items these pieces used to be was interesting. It's free but donations are encouraged. There is also a gift shop with all types of glass art and jewelry as well as other items. I think it's worth a visit before heading out to Glass Beach to look for your own treasures.

I've seen so many complaints about Glass Beach on Facebook :( truth be told it does not look exactly like pictures I've seen posted online However ! It is still a beautiful place and a fun outing if you have the time to actually poke around. My suggestion would be, go after a storm or during low tide. I just went over my birthday weekend which was February 4th and this is what it looks like :) dress comfortably and we're a good pair of shoes that you don't mind messing up.
