My wife and I have been spending 5 months in Sunset Palm for the last 3 years, up until January of this year. We have seen the park going down hill the last 2 years, but this year was the end. In January my wife was doing laundry in the on site laundry. The floor had not been washed since we got there in the first week of November. The machines were quite dirty. The manager walked in and my wife asked him about cleaning the place as it was quite dirty, compared to previous years, when it was spotless. He told her that cleaning was done and the machines had to be cleaned by the user. If she had a complaint, "put it in writing", she was told! The cleaning lady's husband walks around the park with a sidearm, sometimes exposed and sometimes not, and in most times seems to be impared! She said that she would not put it in writing because of the concern with the cleaning lady's husband. The manager then demanded that she tell him our lot number and she refused. He became very belligerent and yelled at her that we were "kicked out of the park". He then left and a couple of minutes later returned with his wife and cornered my wife, demanding to know our lot number, again telling her we were "kicked out". My wife refused to talk to them and they left. She texted me to come get her. and we went to our triler. About 5 minutes later I went with my wife to the office to find out what was going on, and agin we were verbally attacked and threatened by the manager. We immediately went to the Yuma County Sherrif's office and filed a report. The deputy advised us to move out ASAP. This happened on a Thursday, and on Monday we were emailed a notice by both the manager of the park and the General Manager of the several parks in the group, advising us we have been "written up". We immediately found another park! We refused to go to the park office and on the following Monday went to the main office and told the General Manager that we were leaving! She said "oh, I have been meaning to talk to you about what happened" This was over a week later! The park has no gates for secutity, the roadway on the east and south side is a raceway and very noisy. Also, there was no restriction of the type of tennents, and one old dilapitaed trailer had cars and trucks comming and going at all times of the day and night! I wonder why!!||The night before we pulled our 5th wheel out, at 7:50 PM there was a loud knocking on our door, and I went and answered it to find the cleaning lady's husband there, appearing to be very under the influence, and babbling about something I couldn't understand! I was quite afraid! He finally left, and I have no idea of why he was there. A couple of days before we left, andd elderly park resident met my wife on the street and was talking to her about the overflowing garbage dumpsters, but she was afraid to say anything because she was afraid that she would be kicked out, after hearing what happend to us. She was all alone in a motorhome. The garbage in the 3 dumpsters is picked up on Monday morning at 6 AM, but by Friday they are usually overflowing, quite likely because the neighbouring housed use them after dark. As I said, there is no security!||My wife and I are both retired professionals, and worked with the public. If any of my staff treaded customers the way we were treated, they would have been fired immediately! I am a twice Past President of an Airstream Club in northern US, and have been in hundreds of parks, but NEVER treated like we were!||Management in the park is a rotating door and no continuity of rules. Dogs are required to use the dog park, but many residents cage them in their lot and they pick up after them. Very unsanitary for the next visitor! WiFi is a joke, and management does not seem to care. There are lots of great people in the park, but many are leaving because of the lack of security, cleanliness of the facility, and lack of good management. Oh, the night after we left there was a police "take down" in the park about 8 PM, and residents wanted to know what was going on, but were refused information! We are so glad to be out of there. We are now in a gated community, well managed by the same managers for 10 years. And the best part, only $400...
Read moreThis RV park is typical of those in and around Yuma. Like the others, they base their rates on a 5 month season-November 1 to March 31. The park is worth considering because the individual spaces are larger than most other parks and the rate, at $290/month, is very competitive. However, they charge about 16 cents/kwh for electricity so that can mount up. ||||The clubhouse is standard fare with an office, mail room, card room, kitchen, and combination dining room and events hall. They have horseshoes and shuffleboard facilities but no swimming pool. Like the other RV parks, they sponsor all sorts of arts and craft classes and well as hosting musicians jam sessions and bingo games, which attract locals and campers from other parks.||||The park is located in the Foothills, an area a few miles East of downtown Yuma and just a few blocks from a shopping area on Fortuna Road (Interstate 8/Exit 12). The new Super Walmart on 32nd Street is only 3 miles away and the new Fry's Grocery store on Fortuna in one of the most elegant you will encounter.||||If you are looking for luxurious accommodations, keep looking. But for the average snow bird, because of the larger spaces and lower monthly rent, this is a better...
Read moreThis is our ( myself and my wife), third year here at Sunset Palm. Effective last year a (ownership, management) change was implemented. A substantial rate increase for this year and following years was implemented with promises of streamable wifi/internet, a pickleball court, new pool tables to replace the aging broken ones in the game room. Well! We have so so wifi that we can only access when the system allows it, we have a pickleball court we cannot use because it has no net or corresponding lines, and no new pool tables. The park managers here are fantastic but they have had their hands tied by the ownership and are not able to do anything about the issues at hand. Extremely sad, this park "was" our choice for our winter home. We may start looking elsewhere as many others...
