I woke up at night because of a stream of cold air from the air conditioner. It was cold outside, and I had set it to heating mode. It turns out that when the set temperature is reached, the air conditioner doesn’t turn off as one would expect from common sense. Instead, it starts blowing cold air. Who programmed the system this way??? An air conditioner should simply turn off when the set temperature is reached and turn the heat back on when the temperature drops again, instead of blowing cold air. As a result, I had to manually increase the heating further to stop the cold air from blowing. What kind of surrealism is this? Otherwise, the hotel is new and good. Delicious breakfast!!! PS: I found the issue. By default, the system is set to "Fan On" mode, and it needs to be manually switched to "Fan Auto." The problem is that it's generally accepted for the default mode to be what the user expects as obvious, rather than requiring manual adjustments in the settings. If I were the building's chief engineer, I would insist that the manufacturer reprogram the system, rather than forcing tired guests to search through settings at night for obvious and expected functionality or play the role of a QA engineer.

Well the worst conditioner in the world !! Tiny ledge in shower that won't hold necessary supplies They installed those inexpensive blue lights that alter your own skin color and are hard to read by Not good light coverage. This is 5 am. The worst thing was their policy of no early check ins. They wanted to charge me $30 to check in an hour early. As a solo traveler I use less electricity and towels and I consume far less at breakfast. It's a shame there's no lenience or allowance for solo travelers. My room costs the same as for a family of 4 so I'm cheated They send lots of texts to your phone. Pillows are awful. Bed ok but I'd expect way higher quality pillows. I called the hotel next door and they don't nickel and dime their guests that way. Next time I'll be going there

This is by far the best La Quinta we have stayed at. The complex was very clean and well maintained. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms and building didn't smell of "smoke". The breakfast in the morning was well stocked with pretty good variety. We chose this location due to its closeness to Red Rocks. If this La Quinta stays this quality, this will be our go-to hotel.

As much as I dislike writing negative reviews, I feel in this case I must. We made a telephone reservation with the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Littleton on very short notice for a few reasons. First, they were new. Second, they were close by, which we needed. Third, they were available and reasonably priced. Fourth, they were dog-friendly (and at a reasonable price). I overlooked the other negative reviews, which was my mistake. When making the telephone reservation, I explained we had two small dogs and needed a late checkout (2:00 pm) on the day of our departure. The clerk explained that he thought the late checkout time was 3:00 pm, so that would not be a problem. The clerk was very helpful, and our reservation was set. When we got to the La Quinta Inn & Suites, I was greeted by the same clerk who took my reservation. When I signed in (and initialed the form), I noticed our checkout time was incorrectly noted as 12:00 pm instead of 2:00 pm. The clerk punched a few keys on the computer and said he left a note to the affect on our account. No mention was made of additional charges for needing a late checkout. Up to the room we go. My wife hops in the shower, and emerges moments later, exclaiming there is no hot water. We called the front desk, and the same clerk said they would check and let us know. After a few minutes, the clerk knocks on our door, saying everything looked OK, that the water heater was set at 140 degrees. He added that there was a vacant room a few doors down, that he had checked the “hot” water, and that it was “lukewarm,” asking if we wanted to change rooms. Now my wife had just hopped out of a cold shower and was shivering. The last thing we wanted was to gather all of our stuff and trapse down the hall to another room for “lukewarm” water. We asked when the hot water might be fixed, and the clerk replied he would leave a note for maintenance to check it in the morning. End of first night. The next day, before we departed, we checked to see if we had hot water. We did not. On our way out, we asked the front desk and were told that sometimes, if the hotel is not very full, the water only gets “lukewarm”! What kind of answer is that??? So, they cannot or will not get us actually “hot” water? Had we not been in dire straits, we would have left right there, and in hindsight, we should have. The following day, we were to check out at 2:00 pm, according to the telephone reservation I made and the conversation I had with the clerk when I checked in. At about 12:30 pm, housekeeping knocked on our door, asking if we were going to extend our stay by one night. I replied that we were scheduled to check out at 2:00 pm. Housekeeping left. At about 1:20 pm, we got a phone call from the front desk. My wife answered and was told that since we had stayed past 1:00 pm, there would be a half-day charge. Angry, my wife observed that we twice told the La Quinta Inn & Suites that we needed a late (2:00 pm) checkout, and no one mentioned any additional fees. “It is on the registration form you signed when you checked in” was the reply. No doubt it was, but what happened to a little common courtesy of perhaps telling your guest about this horrendous additional charge? Not to mention waiting until it was too late to bring it up? Needless to say, we were irate and packed up immediately. The moral of the story—do not ignore negative reviews....

Staff was nice and they were constantly cleaning so I guess that’s nice. However, the construction/design was really inconvenient. The faucet on all the sinks didn’t reach out to even the MIDDLE of sinks so to wash your hands, you need to jam your knuckles against the far end of the bowl/sink. Uncomfortable and means you spray water everywhere.

The bathroom door in our room was built (assumedly on purpose) at an angle meaning when the door is open, is obstructs the path from the sleeping area to the bathroom area. Also, would open slow and EXTREMELY loud/creaking, not unlike a haunted house door.

The air conditioning didn’t seem to be regulated well because it would BLAST cold air to cool the room far too aggressively below the set temp and then shut off for an hour while it came up to temp.

Despite being very cognizant of keeping our room keys away from fobs, phones, or other credit-type cards, our room keys were disabled on multiple occasions requiring us to get back to the front desk and have them reprogram them. Quite the treat, especially when you’re parked on the opposite side of the building.

I get that dogs are now allowed in hotels, but the amount of dogs allowed to roam into the breakfast area and shake/shed was absolutely repulsive, unhealthy, and frankly inexcusable.

The hotel itself is also really inconvenient to get to as you need to pass it on the freeway, exit off, backtrack down a frontage road, and turn into TECHNICALLY the hotel next door’s parking lot (or go past that, u-turn, THEN exit into the other hotel’s parking lot) and then navigate through, all without signs to guide.

The doors to the rooms are so heavy that you’d THINK they had better soundproofing but you could hear everything, ESPECIALLY when neighboring rooms would open and allow their doors to slam shut during the night.

Finally, if you are looking for a pool, you basically get a kiddie pool that’s 3’6” at its deepest.

Unfortunately, my wife and I were stuck here for 3 nights due to a wedding in the area so we had no choice but to grin and bear it.

Will go out of my way to not...

I was charged $280 for our dog shedding in the room! Isn’t that why you pay the pet fee? We booked a room last minute due to work and our dogs were with us. Literally, that day my dog started shedding excessively and I was, admittedly, worried about it. However, the maids have to vacuum no matter what, so why charge so much for pet hair clean up? I could understand if my dogs chewed up furniture, urinated on the carpet, etc, but they didn’t do anything close to permanent damage. They claim we also smoked in the room, which is absolutely not true! My husband smokes, but is very considerate about it. He carried a cigarette butt inside because there weren’t any trash cans by the back entrance, so be disposed of it in our room in the trash can. How offensive that part of the penalty charge was because of “smoking in the room”. This has been my second awful experience at a La Quinta. The one in Loveland tried to overcharge me by $300 and I had to dispute that charge with my bank, too. I’d venture to guess that management trains their staff to charge as much as possible. I’ve never had any problems at other hotels. We won’t be staying with La Quinta ever again unless they take responsibility for ripping us off. I’d happily change this review of that happens but my expectations are low. We had other problems with booking this stay as well, but that would make this review even longer than it already is. The staff and manager also were negligent in trying to resolve the overcharge and wouldn’t call me back. They talked to my husband and only refunded a partial amount because they had to shampoo the carpet and couldn’t rent the room for a night. So, every time a guest stays with dogs, are they shampooing the carpet in those rooms because those dogs shed as well… of course they aren’t doing that. They vacuum and launder the bedding as usual. When I attempted to sort things out with a man I spoke with at the front desk, he said, “Wow, I’ve actually never seen a charge like this for excessive pet hair.” Somebody benefited at this hotel at our expense. I wouldn’t...
