Please accept this formal recount of my recent Airbnb experience at The Randolph Hotel, Apartment 402, from July 3rd to July 7th, which regrettably did not meet expectations.
The listing described a two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit, but the provided Airbnb images were limited to the beds, hotel exterior, and surrounding area, raising initial concerns. Upon arrival, the unit's exterior exhibited cobwebs, a missing door frame, and exposed wasp nests, suggesting a lack of recent occupancy. Inside, only the beds appeared clean. The floors were unswept and unmopped, with cobwebs and dead insects throughout, and a broken, uncovered window was noted. The unit was not a two-bedroom as advertised; instead, it was a single large room with two beds. The makeshift kitchen area, equipped with a counter, bar sink, and a non-functional refrigerator, was inadequate. A substantial spiderweb, measuring over two feet by two feet, was found in the closet. The bathroom was in an unsanitary condition, with live and dead bugs in the bathtub, which appeared uncleaned for an extended period. Cobwebs and dead insects were also present under the beds, and the bathroom sink had numerous tiny dead bugs. The toilet was not scrubbed and had fecal remnants, and the vanity mirror was disproportionately small. Furthermore, mold and water damage were evident on the ceiling throughout the building.
Given these conditions, we promptly vacated the premises and contacted Airbnb. I provided images to Airbnb, and they concurred that the apartment was not sanitary for a stay. I was highly satisfied with the exceptional customer service provided by Richelle M., who processed a full refund and secured an additional 20% credit from the host, Frank. Although the host offered to clean the unit, we declined, as it clearly required professional and extensive cleaning. Regrettably, the host did not offer an apology. Both refunds were received within five business days, even over the...
Read moreAs soon as we got to this hotel we had trouble getting in. We had a big party and had gotten multiple rooms for this night but ended up only using 3. There was no one to help us figure out how to get into our rooms. Once we got into our room we noticed a god awful stench and had to go outside if we wanted a breath of fresh air. The bathroom was so disgusting and the bathtub was filled with moldy piss. Don’t let the pictures fool you because the rooms look nothing like it. The beds had bugs all over them and nasty stains. There was also a bullet hole in the wall. We tried to lock the door but the locks didn’t work and the only thing holding it closed was a chain. Very unsafe. There was also a fish out on the dock with its organs out. Additionally, the sofa was falling apart in one of our rooms. we had to hold it up with some random peg that fell off of it. Since we had originally gotten lots of rooms we decided to try to switch to a room that was hopefully better. Every room was horrid. bugs everywhere and very messy. We couldn’t fathom having to sleep there but it was already 3am and couldn’t find another hotel. The windows in the rooms were open and would not close. We all stayed in one room which was still disgusting. The carpet was so dirty i don’t even know what color it was originally. it was 7 of us in one room. one of us had to sleep on the table because every piece of furniture was infested with bed bugs. When we woke up there were red marks on us like rashes probably due to the infestation. There was nothing good about this...
Read moreThe Randolph hotel has lots of charm and is pretty quiet and quaint. The bar hours are nice as well because no one wants to be kept awake by loud music and people late at night. The view of the lake is amazing and there isn't much I would change about my stay here. I will say that house keeping doesn't keep up with restocking or taking out trash but outside of that I really can't complain. Maintanance fixed a plumbing issue within a couple hours so they definitely keep up with issues to make sure guests can stay comfortable. The bathrooms are shared there's one on the second floor and one on the 3rd floor. I wouldn't say they are kept very clean but I will say that they are spacious and fully functional. They allow dogs which is amazing because it's hard to find cheap stays with so many positive attributes in a decent area for people with pit-bulls and the hotel gave me the opportunity to keep my service dog in training with me without a question of breed. There's a lot of nice people surrounding the hotel and the entire vibe is great. I would definitely stay here again maybe with a bigger room. Our room had no tv fridge or microwave but it was perfect for us and had plenty of outlets for electric hook ups so we managed to make due and it is very close to many things...
