Fox Lake Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Fox Lake

I came in sat at the counter ordered food to go. As I sat there one of the workers had brought dishes over from people that were done eating, she asked for another plate the other 2 plates had pancakes on it. She proceeded to rip pancakes with her BARE hands without washing them or using a fork and knife. I told another worker that, that was 1000% disgusting. She spoke in Spanish to someone else and she came and told me that they butter toast that way all the time and they laughed it off. Yes I called the Lake County Health department. A couple weeks later I go back a with my dad, and another worker gets in my face and says why did you call the health department? I said really you guys touch people's food with bare hands!!!!! I informed them I would NOT BE EATING just sitting with my dad. That same worker accused me of giving her a dirty look and informed me the manager wanted to talk to me. Terrible experience. Was brought water, that when the MANAGER went to set down, spilled all over me. She apologized and then carried on. When the waitress came by I mentioned that there should be some sort of compensation for this mistake. Now mind you, I'm not a jerk nor am I stingy when it comes to money, and I understand mistakes happen, but doesn't management still want to take care of their customers and make sure they're well taken care of? Well I sure wasn't! I shouldn’t have to ask for a discount. There was no effort made to accommodate the customer, I had to initiate the request. I felt VERY UNDER-APPRECIATED as a customer. The waitress brought over the manager, the same manager who spilled the water, who came back and said, "Sure we'll compensate breakfast..but nothing over $10." Seriously? What the hell is that? I guess they're the stingy...

Terrible first experience. There’s nowhere to wait for a table so we had to keep going back and forth as people were either trying to leave or trying to pay making it super uncomfortable while we waited. We paid $90 for a family of 4 apparently avocado on chilaquiles is an extra $4! Extremely overpriced with food incredibly bland. You can go to Dennys for $60 and get more food and better service. And also an old rude waitress came up to me and told me to switch places with my babies car seat we were in a booth she wanted him inside first and then me like I don’t know what business it was of hers or what it mattered to her three kids I’ve always done it that way and have seen everyone do it.
