The only good thing I can say is the room appeared very clean with no bad odor, the AC was in good working condition, and I had room to park my truck in front of the room. The desk clerk who checked me in was friendly and helpful the first night, but after that, I wasn't impressed with the staff. Overall, I hated it and will not stay there again. It was spartan even by Motel 6 standards. No luggage racks, no place to put suitcase except on floor, bed, or corner bench seat at table. Lighting so poor it would help to bring a headlamp. No light over table, could hardly see to eat. Other than lights in bathroom and over sink counter, no light in room except one very dim wall light and bright reading light but only over one side of bed, controlled by switch on that side only, which is the side farthest from the table. No ceiling lights. The room was large and seemed larger because was devoid of furniture other than bed and small nightstands by bed, half circle wall table; no dresser other than a 2-shelf unit only 29" long. No place to hang clothes except a 29" shelf too high to reach with a couple of protruding knobs. No phone in room so no way to get wake-up call. Tub old, stopper removed and no strainer over drain to stop small objects from going down drain. Only one towel rack, in bathroom; no towel racks by sink; no soap dish or washcloth rack at tub so nothing to hang onto in tub - not safe for old people like me who are not wheelchair-bound but have poor balance. No non-slip bathtub mat although floor of tub roughened. A couple of bath towels, two wash clothes, and a bath mat provided but only one hand towel until asked for more towels. Aerator on sink faucet was missing causing water to blast out narrow opening in faucet with enough force to drill through concrete, splashing water all over counter, walls, and me. I complained several times to front desk about it but it was never fixed even though I was there for 4 days. The room had a large flat screen TV on the wall with satellite service but no broadcast or mainstream cable TV channels (so no NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN, etc. much less MSNBC), so almost nothing to watch unless you're a fan of old movies, home shopping, or the History channel, which tells me manager too cheap to pay the subscription fees. Channel names and numbers displayed on screen briefly shown when channel changed don't even match the actual channel; no program guide, so only way to find out what's on is to click up and down through the channels. So TV useless--had to stream what I wanted to watch over phone, so good thing I have a cable subscription. Fridge not cold enough to freeze anything and thermostat already set on high. Even the ice machine seemed old and tired. But at least it dispensed ice albeit slowly.
Was awakened one night at 1 am by loud banging and crashing sounds in room above, not just heavy footsteps but sounded like somebody throwing heavy objects against floor and walls. Sounded like a horrific fight going on. Finally heard voices which sounded like children. Wondered if some guy was beating on his girlfriend so called front desk and asked "Do you have security here?" Was told yes, so said better send somebody over. Noise stopped. Later asked at front desk what was going on, was told "just a party." If this motel welcomes guests that have "parties" like that, I don't feel safe there.
My general impression of this motel is that the manager must be a penny pincher who does not care about quality, maintenance, or guest services. Either that, or the motel doesn't take in enough money to make improvements. If that's the case, I can see why. I have been spoiled by many years of staying at the Motel 6 in Lodi several times a year, where the management and standards are excellent. Unfortunately it makes this Motel 6 look bad...
Read moreWe had a miserable experience with staff, room accommodations, reservations and customer service. When we checked in instead of one room downstairs two beds we got one room upstairs with one bed. The staff was totally unconcerned until one of my teammates came back to check in to her room which was suppose to be one bed downstairs and was one bed downstairs but not ready yet but now was two beds upstairs. My friend was unable to climb stairs which is why she got there early to ensure she got her requested room. Eventually we were able to trade and get her a downstairs room but with a great deal of hassle. There was a group rate, which I did not get. No one could help me or tell me why my room was more expensive than the other rooms there for the same event even though I told them at time of reservation and at time of check in that I was there with that event. When I called the manager, who was the only one who could answer my questions after the event was over (obviously I did not live in Fresno and could not come back in to talk to her in person as was suggested) she was evasive and never returned my calls. After two weeks I was finally told my reservations were made late and no refund would be coming even though I complained about the service during our stay. We had only 2 bath towels, one hand towel and no wash cloths as was the same as many of the other guests' rooms. There was only 1/4 roll of toilet paper and the staff would not give us more and we were later told they were too busy to get us TP and the towels and wash rags were in the dryer. They said they would bring them to us. They never did. We ran out of toilet paper. When we pressed the issue that we didn't have any they finally found a half used roll somewhere and told us they couldn't find any more. Many other guests had similar difficulties as there were many people in the office complaining. One couple had no sheets on their beds. Another had a room that hadn't been cleaned. Some of my friends complained of roaches. We had a few bugs. It was very noisy at night. There was no mirror in our room. We had to guess if we were presentable to leave the room. This was recommended as the best Motel 6 in Fresno. I shutter to think what the other motels of the chain are like if this was the best, although I once stayed at the Motel 6 near the fairgrounds which was a pretty scary place.||||On the positive side, the morning girl on Sunday morning couldn't help us but she had good attitude deluxe. Even though she couldn't help me she made me feel like she was concerned (the only employee I dealt with that gave me any type of positive feelings) and was actually listening to me. She was also very neat and very professional both in the way she looked and the way she talked. I hope someone can look at the schedule and give this girl some credit for being pleasant in such horrible...
Read more3 stars because the staff was polite and helpful. I stayed here from Thursday night into Saturday morning for a school event. Upon arrival, I didn't know if I was in the hood or just a bad area of town. This place looks like where people go for drugs and other questionable activities. If you're looking for a quiet place to sleep, then forget it. There's activity at all hours except the daytime.
I was greeted by Crystal, who works the night shift. I asked her for clean blankets and sheets, and she was kind enough to accommodate my requests. I am a housekeeper, so I am very cautious when staying at motels. Once I entered the room, I noticed immediately that it has not been deep cleaned in a long time. The floors looked dirty, the bathtub was moldy, and the mirrors and walls were dirty. The room itself smelled of stale smoke and urine. Thankfully, I came prepared and had my own cleaning supplies. I stripped the sheets (looked dirty and had cigarette burns) and replaced them with fresh ones. I used wipes to clean the doorknobs and nearly any surface that I touched. The next day, I went to the gas station to purchase some Pine Sol to clean the floor.
To anyone staying in Room 111 after me, you're welcome. I spent some time deep cleaning the room to make it habitable. I hope the owner reads this review and purchases better cleaning supplies for housekeepers. Higher cleaning standards need to be implemented here. It looks like the furniture, appliances, etc. have never been cleaned. Even though my experience here was disappointing, I still tipped the front desk staff and housekeepers. Please do...
