Beautiful property with golf course, spa, nice pool with waterfalls, mature trees, cornhole, restaurant, grab 'n go cafe, etc. Rooms were very large, spacious, and nicely appointed. There were mostly young (college aged?) kids servicing the various outlets.
My husband is an amputee and is visibly having a difficult time with his prosthetic and walking currently. I dropped him off at the front of the hotel with staff standing out there, yet no one offered to help him get his luggage up the stairs. He had to walk to the side of the stairs up the ramp and back around to the front of the hotel (1/2 a circle) while they stood and talked. That was irritating. The 2nd day I asked if they had a wheelchair and they did! They let us borrow it then.
It was nice they had an accessible shower for my hubby. The spray wand is on the wall of the shower nearest the sink and the seat is nearest the bathroom door. There was water everywhere through the bathroom and to the front door when he'd take a shower due to the set up. Our body soap was never filled back up the whole time we were there. Just used the shampoo to bathe with. I liked the rainhead shower fixture.
We ordered sandwiches and drinks by the pool and sometimes we'd get it and sometimes we wouldn't. They were very pleasant about it, but it was really weird. I'd ask about a sandwich we ordered almost an hour later and the waitress said I ordered that a long time ago, did no one ever bring it to you? You would think she'd check with us rather than the other way around. They always charge you 18% tip on your bill, so it wasn't that we weren't tipping. In room service, we'd order 2 soups, 2 drinks, 2 entrees. Got 1 soup, 1 water, 1 drink, 2 entrees and some forks. Not once at the pool did we get a bill to sign. Never had an idea of what we were being charged.
It was a holiday weekend, we were celebrating our anniversary, and they had a brunch by the pool along with steel drums being played. We went down to enjoy and were serving our plates when a lady came up to us and said you don't have a bracelet! Yep, we don't. You have to have a bracelet to eat! Ok. It's not complimentary, it's $22 per plate! Ok. So she then charged us and we continued on. There was no one at the gate selling bracelets, no mention of having to pay in advance (we had been charging everything to the room.) No sign. Seemed like an odd way to treat a hotel guest.
They had a big jug of water with ice in it. Water had been depleted and I was waiting for it to be filled again. Then some guy reached his hand in at the top and filled his glass twice with ice. I went to the bar and asked if I could get some separate water because that didn't seem too hygienic to me. I go sit down and some young lady comes over while switching out the water jug and says to me loudly really, some guy stuck their hand in the jar?! The guy who had just done it was also looking at me. Super discrete. 🤦♀️ They had a chat. I was mortified.
Pool was nice and enjoyable. Didn't know you could bring your dog to the hotel and also let them swim in the pool. Several pooches enjoying that. Waterfalls were pretty. Kids and adults alike enjoying the spiral slides.
Was going to do a mani/pedi at the spa in the basement (got a little sunburned for a massage or body scrub,) but they don't offer those services. Went to a nearby nail...

First impressions: Nice, big room. King size bed, full and half bathrooms, big walk-in shower, overall a pretty nice room with a partial pool view. Staff was mostly very friendly outside of a couple of bartenders who seemed annoyed if you asked a question about the menu.
Looking closer: TV in the living area wasn't mounted well and hung down at an angle with no adjustment. DirectTV was unavailable and I called to see if it could be fixed and was told they would send someone up. No-one ever came, no follow-up. Why there are still hotels that don't have smart TVs where we can log into streaming apps is beyond me, but having a tv in the room that didn't really work was disappointing.
As with many hotels that I've seen lately there seem to be a lot of 'unfinished' elements in the room. Grouting looking messy, features like the tv being poorly hung, the handle for the shower moves with you when you try to turn it like it's not actually fixed to the wall, etc. Not the best impression.
They had pretty fluffy pillows, which at first sounds nice, but trying to figure out how to use them was frustrating because they're not actually that supportive, and if you fold it over to try to get more support they are too thick. Woke up sore each day from trying to figure out the balance of the pillows and the lack of support from the mattress. Similar issues with the couch in the living area, way too firm and not much support.
Elevator was super slow, so during a busy time I ended up trying to figure out where the stairs were. Finally found them after a 15-minute search and I had to ask an employee who told me to go through a door marked 'employees only' but with a piece of paper pointing to 'additional stairs/elevators'. A bit sketchy.
Pool area was beautiful and well-kept for the most part, obviously with as many kids/families running around there were the normal difficulties finding an open spot that you knew for sure was open because there were old towels in seats that had been abandoned for a while, but that's not the fault of the hotel. Pool was a bit narrow, seemed to be more form than function but as I said it was a beautiful area. Only real disappointment with the pool area was that even on a holiday weekend the poolside bar closed super early (7 on Saturday and I think like 4-5 the other two days). I don't drink much alcohol but having to go to the next floor up to the lobby area to even get a glass of water or a soda was frustrating.
Valet staff was great but the service itself should be included in the $400+/night rate, as should the 'resort' fee. This isn't specifically directed at this hotel but hopefully parent chains will take note that all of the additional fees are a big turn-off when booking a room that suddenly jumps an extra $50-100/night when you get to checkout when it could just as easily be shown in the initial price.
Overall the room was nice but based on the above I didn't really feel the value for...

Westin Stonebriar, Frisco TX: Absolutely Exceptional!!! (lengthy but well worthy review below)
This is now officially one of my favorite hotels in the US, and I travel domestic quite a bit so that is saying something. This was my first trip to the Dallas area, for a mix of business and leisure, and every single moment of my visit was perfect. So much so, that I am already planning a return leisure trip before the year is out. The level of service was what I love and expect from the Marriott brand but I have to take a moment to give acknowledgement to a few staff members who were above and beyond... Marcus - he assisted me at check in, check out and everything in between and was the epitome of attentiveness, professionalism, knowledge (of the hotel and surrounding areas) and pure delightful charisma; highlight of the staff IMO! Roxy and Monica, at Beans & Barrel - amazing service and gave great recommendations! Raul, at Herd & Hearth - perfectly attentive and remembered my coffee & seating preferences after day 1 through checkout! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, the room, the grounds and the interior spaces - as pictured and in some cases even better in person. I look forward to getting out on the greens and checking out the spa next visit! The location is excellent as its very near to Legacy Shops and Lone Star...and it sits right on a golf course!
With this praise comes some critique... The whirlpool/hot tub did not work the entire weekend; the water was cold (at times even colder than the pool). I hope this is fixed by my next return. There was one staff member I encountered, shortly after arrival, who was not at all at her best that day. Barbara; she was the bartender at the pool on Friday. She did not give any acknowledgment as I walked up, and seemed bothered when I asked for a menu after standing there for several minutes. She complained the entire time she spoke to me, made a very poor Paloma and failed to wash her hands prior to making my drink and touching my lime. Thankfully, I chalked it up to her having a bad day and didn’t let it ruin the wonderful experience I had the entirety of my...
