So I had some unplanned time this morning and given that I am no longer a fan of the big chain coffee stores, I found Summer Moon on Yelp and based on all of these fantastic reviews, it seemed like a no brainer… I found my experience however to be disappointing. I was unhappy and as my readers know, I give details, so here we go….
Location is great, easy access from 121. The location has a great atmosphere and is clearly a local spot. If you are a first timer, going during the morning grind may not be the best as I was received by local patrons as being a nuisance to their routine. Maybe this is different at other times of the day but I cannot comment. Parking is okay with accessible spots for persons with a disability but limited seating on first floor as second floor only accessible via stairs.
I knew the backstory of the company and had some idea of what I wanted but received no assistance from staff when I made my order. I even humbly offered that I was a first timer. I settled on a 20 ounce cinnamon latte. My experience was COMPLETELY OPPOSITE of all reviews I read from other patrons. No conversation, no chit chat, very cold and unwelcoming.
The order was prompt and the beverage was good. I was impressed by quality of the coffee beans and found great favor from beginning to end. This sadly was my only strong and positive piece of my review.
Seating also appears to be held in regard by the locals who have computers and accessories covering entire tables but only using one seat or moving tables to accommodate their personal needs. I was raised differently so this may be the norm but for me is a turnoff and elected to sit outside and be uncomfortable with the heat in lieu of the rude clientele.
The bathroom in general was clean but the floor had a lot of hair in corners and such.
So to my followers, if you want just a great coffee, definitely come and get a Summer Moon Coffee, but know what you want or hope you have a barista who wants to help. Otherwise, this business shadows the other chains with their routine customers who truly ruined my first-visit experience. I am unsure if I would return for...

I waited in long line. I ordered 20oz full summer moon latte when it was my turn after waiting. Then, I kept on waited and waited, everyone who came after me already left like 6-7 people. I was curious so I came and asked the barista. He said, he will look into it and turned out that the lady had my drink but was busy chatting with her male coworkers, and did not make the drink. Finally she gave it to me and knew I waited for a while, did not say anything. Turned out she made the wrong drink. I ordered full summer moon, but I barely tasted any summer moon just coffee. I come to summer moon often and know how my drink should taste like. I came back and asked for a remade because I paid for the coffee. But, her coworker gave me a different one. They were reluctant to give me the coffee or to remake it.
This is the remade coffee after opened the lid, not drinking anything yet after getting inside my car, not even filled… I paid for 20 oz and got a 16 oz drink remade not filled… I got upset so I left and did not want to argue with them.
I did not do anything nor even got a chance to talk to her, I just wanted my order to be right and got my coffee. But I had to wait so long, got wrong drink, and just upsetting. I will not come back to this location. I don’t know why that lady treated me this way.
Summer Moon is my favorite coffee around DFW, did not mind the drive to go get it, but this is not right on how to treat customer this way.
I usually do not give much negative reviews unless it is bad. I do lot of reviews as I want to share with others. But this is unacceptable rude!
Very upsetting and...
Read moreHere’s a suggestion for the establishment: have more two-seater tables for customers inside the store, as some people seem to come to Summer Moon by themselves, grab a four-seat table to read or study, and then cover the remaining seats of that table with backpacks, computer, their coats, you name it. So these customers take only one seat for themselves and their backpacks and jackets need to “seat” too, taking all the four seats. Meanwhile, there was a family standing up with their coffees waiting for a table and my husband and I, waiting as well. We had hoped to be able to enjoy more of the coffee shop’s ambience when we decided to visit this location. Instead, we had to grab our coffees, our food and leave. Yes, they have seating outside, but it was a rainy evening. So maybe the place could have more two-seat tables for people who go there by themselves and less four-seat tables that get completely taken by one person and their belongings. As for the coffee, both the Christmas cookie latte and the chestnut latte were delicious. The veggie Mexican breakfast tacos were a happy surprise — also delicious. Customer service was ok, but the seating situation needs...
