I had a group reservation for 12 rooms on 10/10/25 for 24 members of a bicycling club, confirmed via email on 4/28/25 by Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, at the Super 8 by Wyndham Front Royal. I also called the hotel directly on 9/26/25 to confirm the reservation. When we arrived at approx. 2:30pm on the 10th, the front desk person told us that there was no record of my group reservation (which we later found out to be untrue) and that he had only 4 rooms available!!! When we asked to speak to the manager, he told us the manager was out of town and not reachable (which we also found out later to be untrue) and that he was the most senior staff member at the hotel. He told us there was nothing he could do except book us into the 4 vacant rooms he had, and he was unwilling to help us find accommodations for the rest of our group. We began calling all the hotels in Front Royal and eventually patched together enough rooms at 5 different hotels to house everyone in the group. The lack of available hotel rooms was likely due to Front Royal’s popular Festival of Leaves which was happening then. We were eventually able to find accommodations for all our group but at considerably greater expense than the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts contracted amount. Our group reservation rate was approx. $100/room but the rate if booked that day (10/10) was twice that amount, probably due to the popular festival. Read moreWe were driving back from MA and didn't know where we were going to stop for the night until the last minute. I used the Wyndham Rewards mobile app to book the room using our Rewards points as we were driving. Minutes later, when we arrived, the woman at the desk said that we had booked it for one person, not two (??). She called the manager and told us we would have to pay $6 for the "extra person". I told her that I had changed the number of people from 1 to 2 and did not want to pay on top of using points - but she said there was nothing she could do. Since I had already used our points and we had been driving for 9+ hours, we paid the $6. On top of that, the room was terrible. The room was hot when we opened the door. We later found out that was probably because the air conditioning smelled bad (like something had died in it). Luckily the window opened and it was not a hot night. The bed was VERY uncomfortable and the tub squeaked loudly when showering. The towels were stained and there was hair in the tub. We didn't even attempt the breakfast. When we left, the day desk person looked up at us but never said a word. We will not be staying...
