I never write negative reviews, but my experience tonight was unacceptable. When I placed my takeout order the female on the phone was unfriendly & acted like it was a major inconvenience. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess with long dark hair did not greet me when I approached the stand & helped 2 men who came in after me first. Finally, the male host came over and helped me.
I was charged incorrectly for my order ($19 for a burrito and 2 sides, which should have been $12). I pointed this out to the male host and she turned to look at me for the first time and rudely said “Chips are a dollar extra” and went back to helping other people. I said that’s fine but then they still wanted to run my card for $19 when that should have taken the total down to $13. The male host ultimately ended up working it out with the manager after I insisted I still wasn’t overpaying $6.
He was friendly and apologetic. She shot me numerous dirty looks and, while waiting for this to get resolved, I witnessed her be super flirty with men who approached the hostess stand and cold to female only parties. Before I left, I let her know that I would have appreciated friendliness on the phone and being greeted warmly when I entered instead of ignored. She rolled her eyes and said “mmhmm” and went about her business.
Worst of all when I got home the food was not good. There was no avocado or cheese in my burrito as advertised & most of the rice was crisp and over cooked. I’ve eaten here countless times before and never had a problem. The food & the male host have always been great. Had it been just the food that was a problem I wouldn’t have taken the time to post this, but the rude unapologetic hostess really left a bad taste...
Read moreI love going to Boca and it’s a place my friends and I love going to regularly on Friday nights but yesterday our server (Robert) was SO RUDE! He seemed like he just didn’t want to be there which we tried ignoring. But our table of 7 ordered margaritas and asked for Sugar instead of Salt and he brings them back all with Salt. We mentioned it to him the first time and he didn’t seem to care. We ignored that again... we do another order of margaritas and explicitly say and remind him sugar not salt especially because I can’t have salt in those quantities and he brings back salt!!! My boyfriend mentions it to him and his response is “bro that’s sugar” how unprofessional and rude. My boyfriend tastes it in front of him and says no this is clearly salt And I can’t have that and he says he will take it back and remake it. He comes back with the new one and guess what.... it’s still salt :) needless to say they don’t know the difference between salt and sugar nor what good customer service is like....
EDIT: Thanks to the owner for responding I greatly appreciate it! We went back last night and it was a great time like usual so I am assuming that the situation described above is not common to occur. Additionally, we appreciate you taking your time to try and fix the situation because that is all we really wanted since, like I said ,we love eating and getting drinks at Boca. Again thank you for responding and fixing...
Read moreVisiting Gainesville for a film shoot and was told aboit Boca Fiesta. A few locals agreed it was a solid place and so I made it a point to go. Got there around 8? Didnt seem too busy but it was also raining. Had a good energy. Decided to sit at the bar. Ordered a beer and queso to start. Queso was good and came in a nice sized mini cauldron. Beer was in a mason jar and given the day I had, may have tasted extra nice. Before ordering I saw they had gator and knew I wanted it but also acknowledged that it was taco Tuesday. Their deal was out of a selection, 2 for $5. Pretty good deal. Choose between hard, soft and traditional. Ended up getting a hard gator, soft chicken and traditional pork. Food came out in a timely fashion. The gator was certainly my favorite of the three. Perfectly fried and the chipotle sauce with it was nice. The pork is shredded but didnt quite taste like carnitas. It seemed closer to a stew pork if that makes sense. It was good. The chicken kinda of fell flat for me, nothin special. I also didnt like the plain bed of lettuce in my gator taco as well as on the plate for said taco. It just, didnt do anything. Not enough sauce to coat and too much to pack into my taste hole.
All in all, its a solid spot with solid prices but I wasnt blown away. Check it out, sit at the bar and have a taco/beer. The bartender,...
