Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Galesburg — Hotel in Galesburg

The staff here are very friendly however what started as an overnight stay turned into multiple nights of itching and swelling. Yes, I said itching! My sister and I checked in room 322 on Saturday March 22nd and we checked out Sunday March 23rd. After leaving my sister noticed that her right thumb was itching and it was really red and swollen we figured it was irratated and maybe something bit her. We drive 4 hours back home and later on I start itching I didn’t put two and two together until the next morning when I woke up I notice large itchy welps all over so I call my sister and she is having the same issues. She contacts the hotel and they say the room is still empty and they will send an exterminator in there and follow up with us. She was given an email to send photos (which we sent). It’s now Wednesday and I still haven’t heard anything back and the worst part is we are both still itching and still have these big red swollen bites all over us. I don’t know what kind of bugs they have but this is very concerning because this is something I could have brought back to my home. My sister and I live in two different cities this is no coincidence that we both are experiencing the same exact itching and have the same exact bites this hotel is the only place we both stayed or slept together. I am traveling to Jamaica in two days on April 1st and this is very inconvenient for me to be walking if around with bites all over my body. I will be going to see my doctor tomorrow to see if they can tell me what type of bug this hotel is infested with and what bit us. I can not believe no one has reached out to me with any updates! I really wish I could leave photos so that everyone can see exactly what we are going through. Fairfield Inn is conveniently located to great grocery and supply store options as well as many fast food and in-dining restaurant options. Has healthy choices on-site for breakfast and even has small snack and travel emergency items in lobby available for purchase if needed. It is conveniently located just minutes from beautiful Storey and Lincoln Parks. It is just a short 10 to 15 minute drive to Knox College and several great restaurants off Cherry, Main and Seminary streets.

A small but nice fitness center inside is available 24 hrs...and there is an inside pool open during specified hours as well. Plus there is an inside washer & dryer available for a reasonable usage fee.

Rooms have coffee makers, TV, microwave, and refrigerator. Comfortable warm bedding for cold winters as well as cooler bedding for warmer times of the year w heater and air conditioners that keep the room cozy and comfortable.

Daily papers available as well as delicious cookies and hot teas and coffees self serve.

Good for business travelers as well as personal travelers as there is Internet and computer in lobby to print if desired.

Just checked in an hour or so ago. Walked in straight from the highway dead on my feet. I get to the counter and say that I called 10 minutes ago and you said you have a room for 108? They were talking about rabbits. She said ya, and continued to have a conversation with her coworker about the rabbits. After about ten minutes she said she was sorry for making me wait, but her coworkers rabbit just had babies. Then they looked at pictures of the rabbits while I stood there waiting!!!!! The only thing that kept me from walking out or completely snapping was looking out the door and seeing my husband and kids already asleep in the seat and I knew they were too tired to look for another hotel. Never have I EVER been so disrespected. And I'M FROM CHICAGO!!!!! Other then that there was hair all over the shower and gum on the wall. I'm so mad I can't even sleep! So I'm fumming in bed writing this review. I really hope this hotel reads this, checks thier cameras and let's these people go to a bunny shelter where their talents can be respected.
