My stay at the Best Western Hotel in Gardena was, frankly, marred by an appalling encounter with one particular staff member that left me utterly disappointed and outraged. While the amenities and water pressure were decent — albeit due to questionable water-saving policies — my experience was overshadowed by the unprofessionalism, rudeness, and outright deception exhibited by this employee from house keeping room services.
From the moment I arrived, I was met with a dismissive attitude that set the tone for the entire stay. When I inquired about room service and asked if my room could be cleaned, I was met with a baffling display of ignorance and evasiveness. The staff member acted as if she didn’t understand English, despite her later revealing her name and clearly communicating in fluent language on my last day and upon checking out. Her behavior was not only unhelpful but also condescending, as if she was deliberately avoiding her responsibilities.
On Saturday morning, I took the initiative to clean my own room because of first encounter and experience with her, I had to call the front desk and ask them to have the room cleaned. I was told by the front desk that she couldn’t access my room to clean it from the previous day before— a blatant falsehood that I later confirmed was a lie. When I asked her directly whether she would be cleaning the room or if I needed to call the front desk again on my second day , she assured me she would take care of it. Yet, upon my return, I discovered she had done nothing. No cleaning, no bed-making — nothing but a facade of service that was utterly insincere and unacceptable.
At check-out, I finally voiced my frustrations to guest services. I explicitly informed them that I refused to accept her feigned ignorance of English as an excuse for her poor attitude and lack of service. When I asked for her name upon checking out, she provided it, further exposing her deception. It was clear she was putting on a facade and deliberately acting unhelpful, which is beyond unprofessional — it’s downright disgraceful.
This singular encounter tainted what could have been a decent stay. While the hotel’s amenities and water pressure were satisfactory, I cannot overlook the egregious behavior of this employee, whose rude, unhelpful, and deceptive conduct made my experience profoundly unpleasant. Such blatant disrespect and lack of accountability are unacceptable in any service industry.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience, particularly due to the conduct of this individual. If you value respectful, honest, and professional service, look elsewhere. My stay was salvaged only slightly by the hotel’s amenities, but the overall experience was deeply disappointing and will certainly influence my...
Read moreI have stayed at this hotel MANY times and unfortunately, my recent stay was less than pleasant. As I've done before, I booked my room on the AAA website and checked in as usual. My room was clean upon arrival and everything appeared well. I reserved the jacuzzi room but had no reason to inquire if it worked because, silly me, I thought that IF there was an issue with the room, the staff would share that information upon checking in, right? WRONG! Considering the charge for this room was more than the basic room, ALL advertised amenities SHOULD be in working condition, correct? WRONG! Let's NOT mention that the room is located near the fitness room and directly across from the dining hall that begins serving breakfast at 7am (which means heavy traffic and noise). Let's also NOT mention that there were children crying on the same floor and loud running on the upper floor. Upon realizing that the jacuzzi didn't work the desk was immediately notified and the response received indicated that the hotel KNEW the jacuzzi was out of order prior to my check in but failed to share that information with me! Lastly, I made numerous attempts to resolve this issue prior to leaving this review and was only offered an option to rent the SAME room for the SAME price! I was told that this offer was "the best they could do". REALLY? So, I'm being offered the SAME room, with the SAME broken equipment for the SAME price and this is the BEST that can be done? Exactly WHAT is being done?!? I tried to contact the owner and left THREE messages but, to no avail, I have yet to receive the courtesy of a call back to rectify this situation. So in summation:
I stayed in a room with defective, no BROKEN, equipment which the staff was aware of upon my checking in. I didn't get much rest due to the crying children, loud movements on the floor above me, and being in the room directly across from the dining area and fitness room. Nothing has been done to correct this uncomfortable stay(but I have hope).
It's unfortunate that this is the way this matter is being handled because, as I said in the beginning, I have frequented this establishment many times before and have been pleased with the assistance from the staff, especially Johnathan (he's AWESOME!). The owner, Vic, has been extremely busy and has yet to address this issue so we shall see. Hopefully I can return with a positive update but if not, make sure you INQUIRE about ALL equipment PRIOR to checking in to ensure that EVERYTHING works and avoid the 2nd floor if you want to get rest and/or sleep a...
Read moreSorry this review is long but it is a helpful review and hopefully will answer a lot of questions. I will book this hotel again for sure. While looking for a hotel for our family vacation my husband wanted a Double Tree or Hilton but honestly this being a 3 star hotel, with a Google rating of 4.5 stars, I think I got a better deal here at this Best Western. Especially compared to $400 a night. Nah we got a way better deal and way better bang for our buck here at the Best Western. The rooms were clean and at the price I booked I thought I was just getting 2 beds and a desk, but I actually got a loveseat, and 3 chairs not counting the chair that was with the desk. Lamps so I didn't have to have to have the room super bright. I was able to also have it nice and dim. Great AC. We booked for 3 nights. Room service came everyday even though all we needed was the trash taken out and fresh towels everyday. I worked at a Hilton was I was younger and we didn't even ask guest if they needed fresh towels until the 3rd or 4th day. Free parking, we even had 2 cars. 24 hour coffee and tea in the lobby. No coffee maker in the rooms though. I felt that was ok, because going out of my room to the lobby gets me a couple of steps in. Have to have your key car for even the elevator to work, which I honestly appreciate the extra security. Some may not like that but I don't blame hotels having to go through extra measures because of misuse of rooms and reasons for booking. A wide variety of breakfast options from yogurt and oatmeal to eggs, burritos, pastries, bagels, cereals, waffles, fresh fruit. It was even better then the Hilton I used to work at, and that was a new Hotel when I worked there, had only been open 1 year. Very kid friendly hotel, the breakfast room has beautiful decor and ample seating for families. Me, my husband and 3 kids, (ages 13, 10, 2), very much enjoyed this hotel and seen other families having a...
