I was a bit worried leading up to my stay after seeing the horrible reviews, but was honestly pleasantly surprised.
The rooms were very clean and the staff was very pleasant to interact with. The staff mentioned that if you select a room in the app and skip the front desk, it will let you select a room that hasn't been cleaned (maybe that's what some of the other reviews were talking about)
Our stay wasn't perfect, there are some issues I'll outline here:
The walls are a bit thin (as mentioned in other reviews). My guess is this is due to it being an old building that was converted. We could hear people stomping around upstairs, doors slamming and dogs barking. It was noticeable but I wouldn't say it kept me up, but YMMV based on your neighbors.
The breakfast is pretty awful, I know it's free and it's a budget hotel, but was expecting at least some warm offerings.
The windows didn't lock very well and were missing a screen (which was particularly concerning for us at ground floor).
Lastly, the last thing I'd mention is that, for a budget hotel the asking price of $300+ a night seemed steep.
To summarize: We had a pleasant stay here. If you are ok with the price, have tempered expectations and check in with the front desk when you come in, you should have...
Read moreSpark served our purposes for an overnight stay. It is newly opened. As is expected there were some indicators that they are still getting the kinks worked out. The pool is still full of boxes, no water yet. The front desk and breakfast host were pleasant but definitely on a learning curve. That should not dissuade travelers. I am a dedicated Hilton customer and this was the first time I've stayed at this level hotel. That being said, it was fine but not fancy. I gave it 3 stars because its a 3 star version of a Hilton, as advertised. The breakfast was continental, but we expected that from the description of the hotel. The location is near the commercial area with lots of chain stores and restaurants. Cracker Barrel is the only restaurant in walking distance. The drive to town is about 10-12 minutes. ||The pictures, labeled "Sample", are fairly accurate.||We stayed at Tru by Hilton earlier in the week and it was a step up from Spark, but you get what you pay for. We spotted Hampton Inn closer to town but can't offer any opinion of this location. ||The main reason I'm offering my review is that I rely heavily on reviews when selecting...
Read moreWe stayed for one night while in town for a wedding. First- every employee we encountered was extremely friendly and eager to help in anyway possible. We didn’t realize this was a pets welcome hotel, which we try to avoid. We didn’t see or hear any pets while there, but there is a very faint smell in the hallways that pets have been there. Our room was mostly very clean but again a very slight odor was present. When checking in I requested a non pet room but the desk clerk informed me every room is pet friendly. Breakfast is included and was the usual breakfast buffet type of offerings. Nothing special, nothing bad. Overall not a bad stay for the money spent but probably wouldn’t stay here again if I was in town again. Picture of the chair in our room that was stained. Not sure if it’s...
