Reasonable rate for the area, but needs some upgrades, routine maintenance, and better cleaning procedures. Only real pros are the proximity to the highway and friendly front desk staff. I stayed at the Microtel in Clarksville, TN and had a great experience there. I was expecting a similar experience here but was disappointed. The common areas are in need of a good cleaning and deodorizing. There are stains all over the walls and carpets and the entire hotel has an old, musty cigarette smoke smell. As for our room, it was VERY small, but it was one night and late so it didn't matter to us. What did matter was our toilet did not flush properly- it didn't evacuate the bowl and anything that was put in there, stayed in there, if you get my drift... We noticed an ant on the desk when we first walked in the room. Then more throughout the night. It appears they were coming in from behind the TV. Considering how unclean the room appeared, it was not surprising. Stains on walls, big cobweb in the corner by the window. Fridge was obviously not cleaned- there were sticky spills on the shelves. The "Clean Remote" was definitely not clean and had crusty white stuff on it. Hairs on the bathroom floor. Our sheets had stains on them and the top sheet had a hole in it. There were long hairs of various colors on the sheets. The hotel does laundry on site so assuming (hoping) the sheets were cleaned and the washer/dryer are cheap/overloaded and couldn't get them off. The fixtures in the tub were rusty and considering the condition of the rest of the room, we didn't even attempt to shower so can't speak to that. I travel extensively for work and expect a much higher standard of care and attention to cleanliness for the...
Read moreI've stayed here 3 times prior, for multiple days while visiting my son. I don't actually leave a lot of reviews, but since this is probably my last stay--since my son is graduating, I thought a review would be helpful. Rooms are great, they are clean and have everything you need. The cleaning service workers are awesome. My bed was made and there were fresh towels daily. The little breakfast is just enough. Front desk staff is really good too...for the most part very friendly--until I checked out. My son had a class until 1230, and I had a 330 flight out of Cincinnati. So he was going to pick me up after his class and take me. I called down to the front desk, explained the situation and asked for and extra hour before I checked out. The guy at the front desk who's been here every time I've stayed, and honestly the least friendly of the staff, said for $20 more I could stay until 1pm...thats 1/3 - 1/4 of room price for 2 hours. I said that I only needed an hour, and then I'd just wait in the lobby. All he said was that I was welcome to sit in the lobby. I get policies...I do...but I simply asked for an hour, while my son finishes his class at the local college that probably brings them most of their business. I could be wrong here, but the situation just bugged me a bit. Maybe it's because 95% of the people I've met here in Kentucky over the years are just fantastic people. Anyway, my sons graduation is next month, and I'm going to give one of the many other local...
