Motel 6 Glendale, AZ — Hotel in Glendale

The worst hotel experience in my life in just one night and I travel A LOT. This was the first hotel in my journey across the country to be stationed at my new base. I recently had surgery was unable to carry more than 10 lbs. My husband had to move everything out of the car including the cat and her belongings. Upon arrival, the front desk staff was not in uniform and did not show me where my room was or mention the check out time. We went out to celebrate a family's birthday. We got back late and clicked on the link in the email to the Motel 6 site that stated check out was at noon (at most locations). When 11:00am came, there was banging on the door and we let the ladies know we were checking out at noon. They said no check out is at 11. We called the front desk and explained what happened and she agreed we could leave at noon. About 10 minutes later, another banging at the door. We could tell there were additional voices telling us to get out. We explained to the ladies at the door we were allowed to check out at noon by the front desk staff. Mind you the banging gets louder and more disrespectful. About another 15 minutes goes by and the banging happens again. They were so aggressive trying to kick us out of the room even though we kept explaining we were allowed to check out later. Finally, about 5 minutes before noon when we were on our last run to put everything in the car, a cleaning lady was on her cell phone telling us to get out and to leave our things. The conversation got heated and I went downstairs to tell the front desk staff what happened. I walked her through my process of seeing the noon check out time on the Motel 6 policy website. She understood and let the cleaning lady know we were in the right. I explained the check out time was never stated which made me think it was noon like the site stated and the cleaning staff should have known we were given permission to stay until noon because every time they came to act like security, it kept us from getting ready and running out of that place to never return. Oh, let's not forget no toilet tissue upon arrival, stains everywhere including red nail polish on the sheets that I mistakenly thought was blood....

Do not believe the positive reviews of the rooms. Our interactions with the staff were fine- they were polite and fine with their job. They were respectful and worth respecting. I would give this place a 0 star rating, however, based in soul reason for our room and its condition.

The floor of our room was riddled with burn marks from cigarettes, as were the blankets, sheets, and the top of the toilet seat. The mirror on the bathroom door- the bathroom being a tiny space to begin with- was punched in one corner.

The door to the bathroom was covered in large thick black marks- as were all the walls. The light over the sink- located in a little area outside the bathroom- looked like it was about to fall off the ceiling.

The towel rack in the bathroom was literally held together with electrical tape. The shower curtain rod was about to fall off the wall at one end. The bathroom vent was literally hanging off the ceiling

Speaking of electrical, the outlet the TV was plugged into had one fried outlet. The TV itself, having been mounted to the wall at an angle and was not able to be adjusted, was useless. The remote had no batteries, and without which the channel could not be changed as the cable receiver was inaccessible to our room.

Also, after sitting on the bed for several minutes updating Facebook on her phone, my mom found a bug on her. It was not a bed bug- thankfully. But we could not sleep well the rest of the night because we were nervous the rest of the night about bugs.

Also, the wifi was god-awful.

The room decor looks like it'd not been renovated sense the 50's. All the furniture was this tiny ply-wood number that wasn't really useful for much. The back wall was this awful orange color you can only find on old knitted hippy furniture and the texture was like someone had painted latex over burlap. This works for them because it accents the vinyl wood-pattern paneling that made up the floor.

If the rest of the rooms were as bad as ours, there's any wonder there aren't any more horrible reviews. Or that they haven't been booted off the Motel 6 brand. Even they desire to keep their...

I just have to say more if you read up all my reviews I have to say the location is good because it’s in the middle because it was good for me probably not in the best area, but it was convenient for me. The service I have to give two stars because the people at the front desk the two ladies were very nice. I thought the manager he was always helpful until recently., I do not understand why he would not talk to me or explain anything to me and I have to agree with the one review that I did see the ladies are very aggressive like police knocking at your door even before 11 o’clock saying check out I did stay for an extended period of time off and on like I said because of my situation and I knew the policy so I would always try to pay ahead if I was extending there was a couple days that I asked, but I communicated that I would be checking out soon. I just do not understand why I’m all of a sudden DNR and the one housekeeper Bernie just constantly comes banging at your door every 10 minutes and even if you tell her that you spoke with the front desk, she is rude , I just feel like she’s out for people and wants to get certain people in trouble or such things that aren’t true you try to communicate nobody wants to listen. It’s only a couple girls that really care the manager did. I’m not sure what happened. I’m just upset because I really kept the room clean. I really appreciated everybody there and always communicated. Always gave good reviews despite the benefit of the doubt by being treated the way I was the other day and not even being talked to after everything and all the money that I put into there and even referring people!
