I would give 2 stars but I'm being kind because the rooms were clean for the most part. Although I noticed coffee on the counter in our room and we never made coffee therefore it shows the counters were not wiped down prior to our arrival. This place is way under staffed for as large as it is. This hotel has over 400 rooms and only 2 cleaning people that start at 7am vacuuming the hallways. Seriously..what happened to sleeping in until 8ish? But wait you can't sleep in until 8 or 9..because their complimentary breakfast ends at 9am. Mind you this is Saturday and Sunday mornings. But of coarse when you get to the breakfast there is nothing out anyways. They are supposed to have biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs, toast, bagels, waffles and pancakes. I witness a mother ask a staff member for some waffle mix on a Saturday morning and he told her no..because it's almost 9am he was not going to get any out...seriously..this mother just paid $100 to stay at this hotel and you can't get some waffle mix to feed her children. Day 2..Sunday I took my daughter down at 830am to let her eat and again nothing out. And I mean NOTHING...I went to the front desk and rang the bell no one comes. Ring again..nothing. Then a lady comes from outside smoking and ask of she can help me. No name tag on or I would have known she worked there. I reply yes who is working the breakfast area, there is nothing out? She says she is and that she supposively filled 10min prior. I said there's no way but if you did then you need to stay on top of it. You have over 400 rooms and are supposively booked to capacity(because it was a district baseball tournament). She immediately started getting stuff then everyone waiting to check out had to wait. This was completely ridiculous to be that under staffed. Must have also been why outer room was never cleaned and I had to take our dirty towels down and get clean ones. We also primarily booked this hotel because of the pool. Well of coarse the pool was out of service and I see when reading these reviews that is was 2 weeks prior also. The gentleman on Friday at check in said he was the pool guy, the front desk guy and he hasnt been able to find the chemicals to get the pool cleared up. I'm sorry but if you have a pool you should know where to get the chemicals. And unless you own the hotel then the owners should make sure they are on hand. Overall poorly managed property for the price. My 2 night stay was $250. I am trying to find a cooperate ph # to make my complaint be known instead of just on here. Will...
Read morePossibly the worst hotel experience that I ever had in my life (I am 60+ years old). I have traveled to many places here and abroad over the years...this hotel "takes the cake".
My wife had booked this hotel as we traveled across the country recently (early September 2021). We arrived at the property around 3:45 PM. There were zero (NONE, nada ) cars in the parking lot. It looked like it was closed. I went to the lobby doors and they opened. OK, I thought, this is odd. I looked around and repeatedly yelled, "hello, anyone here?" NO response. I picked up a lobby phone and called the front desk across from me. It rang and rang and rang...no response. I proceeded to go back outside and explained the situation to my wife.
We both went back in and yelled "Hello, anyone here?" No response. I again picked up the phone and called the desk. Finally, the owner (I believe) came out from the back area.
My wife said, "I think that we would like to cancel our reservation, as there is nobody else here". The fellow looked at his watch and said that it was now 4:09. He went on to state that all cancellations had to be made by 4:00 PM. I said, "Excuse me, but I have been here for 20 minutes and you were nowhere to be found". After an angry exchange, he agreed to cancel the reservation.
I then asked him for his name, and he refused to give it to me. I took out my phone and took his picture in case there was any dispute on the time, or whether or not I had been there ...and he went crazy! He started shouting that I couldn't do that and that he was going to call the police. "Go ahead, you're nuts!" I said. We left.
I checked into the Holiday Inn Express across the street with no issues. I called the Astoria hotels corporate office in Bismarck, ND. I told my story to the fellow on the phone and he gasped and said "I will have a manager call you back" and he said that he was sorry that I had such a terrible experience. I am still waiting for a callback...
P.S. Upon checked reviews (a little too late) on Google as well as Trip Adviser they are almost all terrible! I would avoid this hotel at all costs. I would give them "0"...
Read moreWe had a extremely bizarre experience attempting to stay here. The staff was very disrespectful, unresponsive, and just bizarre. My husband, myself (being 6 months pregnant) and our one year old son paid for a one night stay. I had gone to the front desk to see if there were any extra pillows, the pillows in the room were small and I forgot to bring my own, the girl working seemed bothered I had even came to the front desk and made me feel like I inconvenienced her. She was rude in giving me the pillows and in a rush (holding my child) I didn’t notice there were no pillow cases. When I arrived to the room my husband called down to see if we could get pillow cases for them and the same girl said rudely we could come get them of we wanted them. My husband told her she was being rude and that it was disappointing service, she hung up. He went down to get the pillow cases and after my husband expressed his disappointment with her response and service, she threatened to call the cops! Extremely unnecessary but she clearly did not care and was acting erratically. I then went down to talk to her, first our infant is beyond tired and needed to sleep and I also wanted an explanation. I recorded my conversation with the other employee (apparently his first night) and simply asked to talk her and get the issue resolved. It was basically like speaking to a child, he had no response, no respect, no eye contact, no nothing, just alot of “okay” and then said there would be no apology and he had no solution but to ask if we wanted to leave. She then came out and attempted to explain why she would call the cops, which was because she didn’t want to deal with my husbands direct response to her rude response, and pointed to the sign on the wall that said she could refuse service to anyone. Honestly, the most bizarre experience with two individuals that have no idea what customer service is and treat paying guest like dirt. We are still in shock over what happened and will never ever go back and highly recommend no one else to. We were hoping for some sort of resolution but people that treat others like that are...
