Comfortable, clean, friendly, quiet, and clean (i know i mentioned it twice, but it was)... all the things you want when looking for a hotel room. Had a refrigerator also, and the A/C worked fine. I made the reservation online, and I thought the date was for the same day. It turned out to be 3 days later. I called priceline to get a refund. It hotel was nice enough to switch the dates and keep the rate. Although they didn't have my room request (King), they discounted my room and put me in another (Queen). The room was a large room. Sure, the building is a little old, but look in the mirror, we aren't going to stay young and fresh forever! The breakfast was in the hotel across the parking lot, and it was ok. They ran out of scrambled eggs, but as I was in a hurry, I didn't care. They also had waffles to make (large or small dollar size), potatoes, hard boiled eggs, fruit (looked good and edible, i had 2 bananas), cereals, yogurt, breads (English muffin, bagels, wheat), and your drinks (coffee, oj, cranberry, and a kiwi flavored electrolyte water). My only gripe is when I wanted to check out in the morning, the staff person was next door gabbing with her friends. I was waiting for a good 5-10 minutes before the maintenance man walked by and told me to look next door. I needed a receipt for my road travels (business). There were no postings saying she was next door. I felt that part of the stay was very unprofessional. You are here to work, not socialize... do that after work, not in the morning when people might need your attention. The gripe is the reason...
Read moreThe room looked to be recently remodeled. It was clean, the AC was very cold on the 100 degrees day we were there. The location is good, etc. However, the hotel itself is not the reason for the review. I hardly review anything. The review is for the wonderful staff.
We were camping at Makoshika when the wildfire started July 2nd. Just an hour or so prior to the fire, a rock put a hole in the radiator of my vehicle. Hyundai Roadside Assistance wanted to tow my Santa Cruz over 200 miles, in The wrong direction, while leaving my camper, family, and dogs behind. We were in a bind.
A Google Maps search har Glendive Lodge on top of their list. I called, they had one dog friendly room left. The front desk clerk graciously offered to hold it, with just my promise that we would be there, no deposit, no credit card, just my word. When we checked in, she even waived the pet fees because of our situation.
The story doesn't end there! There was one radiator shop in town, and it was open on July 3rd. They had no one on their schedule, so they took my truck in to patch the hole. The whole repair would take hours to complete. The same employee let us stay in our room until the repair was done at 3:00 that afternoon. It was a 100 degrees day and we would have had nowhere to go. I really didn't even have to ask. She was going to take care of us, no matter what.
It was a really challenging 24 hour, over 1400 miles from home. In those times certain people seem show up in your life, right when you need them most. This was one of those times and we are...
Read moreThe hotel is dated The lobby area looks nice and modern but as you start on the hallways you realize you're taking a trip back to the early 90s. When we walked into our room, we were greeted with stained green carpet, furnishings of an old school super eight, updated bedspreads and some burnt wood shelving to try and make it seem less run down, and a ton of humidity - more than outside. Aside from the floor, it was very clean. The problem is that it seem to have an air conditioner from 1980 and it was beyond time to retire. At about two in the morning with a room being in the 90° range of temperature we couldn't handle the fact that the AC machine wouldn't cycle to cold unless we physically got up and turn the thermostat all the way down at all the way back up on the machine... and even then it would only get cold for one cycle and would not come back on. We had to get out of there! They don't have a 24 hour desk so you have to go to the hotel next-door to ask for help and the guy over there basically said tough, you paid for it. I thought this might be a one off but as I was coming back in from having to run next-door to try to get help, another customer was storming out of there because he said he couldn't handle being in a sauna any longer... We left for the hotel across the street which had newer AC units that got it nice and cold. Save yourself the trouble, give another hotel the money to start with because you won't get anything back or any help when you are left cooking in one of these...
