I had a great time at my stay at Johnson's Beach in their new tiny homes. Their tiny homes had opened up Labor Day of this year and they are well designed and equiped with most of what you need to have a great "glamping" experience. Originally I was planning on glamping at a luxury tent at Autocamp nearby, but they weren't available for Saturday night. I'm so glad we ended up here because it was a better value with more of the little luxuries with direct access to the river and downtown. It was convenient to load and unload the car since we parked right next to the tiny home. The interior of the space feels much bigger than it is, and it helps that the table inside is a retractable leaf from the wall.
The good: the huge king sized bed felt unreal shower is big and water got warm quickly large basin kitchen sink w/own sponge and soap. Having the burners and the fridge was a luxury. quality Malin + Goetz shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap low profile baseboard heater and standing fan included lots of built in shelving in the main area fridge quality fixtures, windows ,and great warm ambient lighting options. Small handheld lamp was also a nice touch Checking in was a breeze and staff are soo kind and helpful
Could be better: blinds for the entrance left a large gap through the side to see in still. We had to drape a towel we brought over to cover the gap window next to bed had too long of a paper/crepe type of curtain that got the bed and I kept bumping into under the sink shelf in the restroom would be nice to have our toiletries stored in diagram photo in the booking showed camp chairs outside. There is actually only a small fire pit and a picnic table. facilities offered wifi on the check in brochure, but it wasn't reachable in the home. Not sure if that was intentional or not. Either way, I was not expecting to have wifi. a few more sets of silverware and perhaps a larger bowl would be helpful
Overall I'd stay here again and recommend it to all my friends! They did a lovely job taking into consideration the space and investing in the tiny homes. Photos taken were from when we had...
Read moreIf you are looking to rough it away from the city this is NOT the place to stay. If you are looking to take your child somewhere but are unsure how they will take to camping this IS DEFINITELY the place to go. ||||We did a family trip with 2 other families with kids aged 2-5 and they all LOVED IT. This is a super family friendly spot with SUPER close beach and river access. The beach rental gives away free life vests (much appreciated by parents). The camp site has smallish spots depending on which spot you get. HINT for reading the map: The cars all drive into the campgrounds using the road between camp spots 25-29. 27 is a HUGE spot. The camp site is located 1 block from downtown/main street, so there is definite noise from cars and when the bars let out it can get noisy. The spots 1-3 and 37-31 are located next to the river bank (but there is a fence to keep kids safe) and I believe they are quieter sites. ||||You give a $5 deposit for the restrooms. There are showers available for .50 for 6 minutes which is a LOT of time to shower even thought it may not seem like it.||||The front desk guy was FANTASTICO!! Super helpful, nice guy. He ran after us when there was a hiccup with getting our receipt to us via email. He didn't have to but he wanted to make sure we got our receipt. The front desk person does walking rounds to make sure the campers and spots are okay and for security. ||||You have 24/7 access to the beach. The public only has access from 10 a.m.- 6p.m. You can rent an umbrella for $10 for the whole day, so go early, grab a umbrella and then ditch your gear if you want. They have pedal boats and canoes for rent. The snack bar at the beach has hot dogs, garden burgers, burgers, and grilled cheese, etc. The hot dogs were AMAZEBALLS. ||||The nicest thing is if you forget something you are 2-5 mt walk to stores. If you have littles they will LOVE this place. My kids are already asking to go back. We are definitely...
Read moreThis is more like a summer camp than a motel. There are various duplex buildings on stilts you park under the buildings (very tight and not for the fat).|The setting is large old trees (black walnut and sycamore) and is just a bit funky. The rooms are clean and the beds are soft and comfy, The pillows are large and very nice. No TV, clocks or radio. The WiFi is very strong when we were there (not too many visitors at the time, wrong season). The Russian River flows in the back yard although there is a large dirt "parking lot" between the camp and the river. Real nice camping spots and small houses on wheels to rent. There was a kitchenette in our "balcony" room. Induction stove top was full of ??????? and it takes many many minutes to heat water for coffee or tea. Some kitchenware provided. |Being october and fall the weather was good but cool to cold at night. There was something that looked like it could have been a space heater on the wall but I could never get it to give out any heat. To nobs neither of which seemed to do anything, no tell tale lights to show anything and no fan it seems.||There was a nice comforter and indian style blanket on the bed but it was COLD ALL NIGHT in the room when we were there.||Funny with all the black walnut trees dropping nuts, when cars drove through the parking lots and ran over the nuts it was like shots going off and a bit disconcerting until it became humorous.||Decent value in a small town. Must hop...
