My wife and I made the 1000 mile trip south to visit Gulf Shores for the first time a few weeks ago. We went with no previous reservations for a hotel/condo, and figured with it being the 'off-season', we'd just find a place to stay when we got there (not a recommended strategy...lol!). We ended up here. The Good- ~Anna at the front desk was super-helpful! ~For being a 3-star hotel, the entire facility was impeccably clean. ALWAYS. And this is with alot of returning beach and pool traffic throughout the day. ~The pool and surrounding area was very nice and relaxing. ~The free breakfast was the best I have ever been to in a 3-star. Always busy, but never out of anything for long, and kept remarkably clean as well with a good variety. 5+ stars for the breakfast! ~Our room (417) was facing the beach and the balcony (with big sliding glass doors) was nice enough, but with the construction of another beach side high rise going on across the street, the view of the ocean was now very limited. Construction was noisy at times as well, but not much can be done about that. ~Very nice and big tv in the room. ~Mattresses were very comfy.
The Not So Good- ~The t.v. (and remote) were barely functional, as the tv signal regularly dropped, and many channels that were supposed to come in, didn't. It was supposed to be HDTV, but felt more like you were watching on an old tv in the 80's. We complained about this, and even went and tried to find another place to stay because of it, but honestly?...what we found and looked at wasn't as nice, and was wayyyy more expensive, so we chose to just stay put here. They were very gracious to us as we looked. ~We brought our like new laptop, and wireless was good, when it worked. Signal was sporadic most of the time, and would require some patience to surf the internet. If your idea after a long day of tourist'ing is to come back to the room and enjoy an evening of high quality tv and using the wireless, this may not be the place for you. ~Water pressure in the shower was abysmal, and the water doesn't get near hot enough with the way they have the adjustments set. This was very irritating for my wife.
We would prefer to be beach side for sure, but would definitely stay here again. Except for the tv/shower issues, I'd say it was overall the nicest Comfort Inn I've ever stayed at in my many decades of life. While it's about a 4-5 min walk to the beach, the hotel is close to everything, and overall very nice. We recommend it, and can't hardly wait to go back to...
Read moreI recently stayed at this Comfort Inn location and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience that fell far short of basic expectations for comfort, cleanliness, and service.
First and most concerning, the bathroom in our room had visible mold on the ceiling. I have photos documenting this and would be happy to provide them. This raises serious health and safety concerns and is not something any guest should encounter.
In addition, the room showed signs of poor maintenance: the doorstopper was lopsided and ineffective, and one of the laminate flooring slabs was loose and unstable — again, something I can provide photographic evidence of.
The housekeeping service was also inadequate. The room was clearly not vacuumed on the second day of our stay, and the maid seemed to have simply remade the bed without any actual cleaning.
Another major issue we faced involved the mini fridge. It was set to an extremely cold temperature, which we discovered too late. My girlfriend has celiac disease, a serious autoimmune condition where consuming even small amounts of gluten can cause severe health problems. As a result, we travel with our own safe food. Unfortunately, all of our refrigerated items were completely frozen overnight, making them unusable. We had to throw everything away and replace it — a costly and frustrating inconvenience. We later found out the thermostat was hidden behind the fridge, making it practically impossible to adjust. This is a serious design flaw, especially for guests who rely on proper food storage.
Lastly, the breakfast offerings were very disappointing. Not a single gluten-free item was available. When I inquired with the staff member overseeing breakfast, her reaction was unexpectedly defensive, almost offended that I had even asked. This response was both unhelpful and unprofessional. As paying guests, we should at least be able to enjoy part of the breakfast we paid for — especially given the increasing need for dietary accommodations.
In light of all these issues — unsanitary conditions, poor maintenance, inadequate housekeeping, food safety problems, and lack of consideration for dietary restrictions — I am requesting compensation for this stay. The experience did not reflect the standards we expect from Comfort Inn, and we feel that a refund or partial reimbursement is warranted.
I sincerely hope someone from management will follow up on...
Read moreDO NOT STAY! Customer service is HORRIBLE. I would leave a zero star review. I never leave bad reviews for the sake of a business, but I had to this time.
Thursday night I was searching for a place to stay in Orange Beach, AL and came across this hotel. The price looked reasonable especially for Memorial Day weekend. As a retired veteran it was disappointing that they did not offer a military discount, but I realize a lot of hotels can not meet those discounts due to current events. I decided to book through a third party, unfortunately the dates ended up being wrong and instead of booking one night for May 24- May 25(Memorial Day) the booking was confirmed for May 21-22. So the booking was for the same night that I found the hotel at 7pm(We live four hours away and could not make it for that night) I immediately called Comfort Inn, of course I was met with someone who was very hard to understand but we managed to navigate the language barrier and the representative explained that I must reach out to The third party I booked through, which I did. Upon calling Expedia and explaining my situation they called Comfort inn in Orang beach, at this point three different people had spoken to the manager at this location and explained that there was an accident in booking the wrong dates and this mistake was made literally 5 minutes prior to the hotel receiving the booking.
The hotel REFUSED to sign the waiver to refund my money which was $192. Meaning I am not able to book ANY room now due to budgeting. On Memorial Day weekend, knowing it was an malfunction, and knowing that I WOULD NOT be able to stay in the room that was paid for the same night.
The customer service was horrible
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. ESPECIALLY NOT FELLOW MILITARY MEMBERS OR VETERANS
*On a different note, you should book through Expedia who said, although the hotel supervisor who COULD HAVE EASILY MADE THE CANCELLATION and ISSUED A REFUND so that I could find another hotel for Memorial Day DID NOT WANT TO MEET THE REQUEST OF MYSELF AS A RETIRED VETERAN OR THE REQUEST OF EXPEDIA
Expedia tried to help, they were polite.
Comfort Inn did not care that a mistake was made or that they knowingly took money for...
