Waffle House — Restaurant in Gulf Shores

WORST experience EVER!!! We all know there is a Waffle House just about everywhere we go in the South. After a long day of traveling my family and I of 12 decided to go to this Waffle House since it was directly across the street. Upon entering I notice ALL the workers were sitting at tables just talking. Of all the workers there ONE gentlemen begin assisting us while the others remained seated. We were given menus, utensil, and the beverages we ordered. We were asked how the checks would be split and he begin taking our orders. After taking the orders on one side of the room he begin calling out the orders in the area of the seated workers. We should have known something was up because still no one got up not even the cooks to begin starting the orders. The waiter came back and made an announcement that the register had just gone down and we needed to pay in cash. At this point another worker decided to finally get up while the others still remained seated and asked if we wanted to just leave our card numbers for them to charge later. The waiter assisting us proceeded to pretend he was trying to fix what went wrong with the register with someone on the phone while the others remained seated. Now we all know things happen all the time beyond our control, but noticed he said the register went down not the card processor🤔.How did he know this when no one else was in the place but us and no one was using the registers because they were all still seated🤔. They did not want to work this day and had no plans too from the moment we walked through the door or maybe this was a clear sign of discrimination😡 If not, word of advice, next time STAY HOME IF YOU DON’T WANT TO WORK or get your lie together from the beginning next time. Was by far not a great experience for my spouse and myself today ... They had a few people already there and eating when we walked in but took almost ten mins to b greeted by our server. She walks up and says r y'all ready... So of course seeing we had all this time yes we were ready... Took forever to get food and by this time they were pretty much cleared out ... Trying to stay positive as this was our breakfast/lunch before hitting the beach for the day... I ordered steak and eggs and got my eggs took another ten mins on steak in meantime she brings my boyfriend's food and he quickly noticed he had bacon on his sandwich not sausage like he ordered and bacon was burnt his hashbrowns had black throughout from dirty grill call her back and question about my steak and let her know he needed sausage she liked grinning because we had things not right like it was funny .. all while we watched her and hostess on and off phones while manager carried on loud convos with employees ... I hate to fuss as I have worked the business for 25+ years and I know how it is but once we complain and let u know in a nice way things aren't right u fix them not shrug it off like o well .. confronted manager and he didn't make us pay but we wanted to let him know his issues so they could b addressed but he also didn't seem to bothered other than here free meal ... That is not why we complained but appreciate not making us pay for a bad experience all way around ... Just floors me that a place right there by beach and that is what u...

Whitney Love at this location on 5/20/24 at 2:15 AM told us to leave the restaurant as she was calling the. GS police. We go to this Waffle House at least 3 times per week with our staff to decompress from a long night within the same industry. There is a full menu out for display that is white with all the list of menu items for a variety of choices. Whitney came and ripped the menu from my friends hands without explanation or being asked for it. We use the other menu because we work in a restaurant and like to get a variety and try menu items not on the main. The food is always good and we are always satisfied with the normal staff. Completely rude, unprofessional as Whitney Love the District Manager spoke to us and told us to leave We like the regular staff not this woman who was is unsuitable for her position and not capable of being a district manager and handle communication. Coming from my daily experience at both the restaurants and Nightclub I oversee I would be sure to steer clear if she is at any location.

Update 5/21/2024: no one has called however we ran into someone with common interest and stated that Whitney has now reprimanded others for giving the menu that sits out in the open and continues to create a toxic environment for her coworkers and staff. I await someone to reach out to me so we can continue visiting our late night venue and support the local...
